Counter was clean and big in kitchen. Fridge and stove were also clean. Lots of cooking ware in the kitchen as well as utensils. They have a microwave. No toaster (that I saw.. I didn't look too hard haha). Bathroom was pretty spacious and I think they had heated flooring in front of the tub?! Water was a little confusing to figure out. Left is hot, middle is to turn from tub faucet to shower, and right was cold (turned cold just slightly- controls were touchy). I started to freak out not seeing reviews specific to this cabin. Trying to provide as much detail as I can to avoid outdated reviews scaring new visitors from this beautiful remodeled cabin. Kim and Q from Iowa - we loved this cabin. Now onto some cons: 1. Because of the wind and nature itself, there is a lot of dirt and debris that gets in. I wish I had brought my own slippers. I wore socks or shoes inside to avoid getting dirt in the bed. We had the windows open, so dirt and little debris ended getting in anyways. 2. The window in the bedroom has a slit in the netting. Again, we got debris and bugs like mosquitos inside because of it. (At least we got good air flow lol!) 3. The hot water pressure is not as good. But the water does get hot and it gets hot fairly quickly. 4. I wish the bathroom had some cheap hand soap in it. I brought my own hand soap in case they didn't have any. Good thinking on my end. I am not using shampoo to wash my hands after using the restroom. Other than those minor details, this stay was amazing. Again, we loved the cabin and hope to come back someday. :)

Everywhere you look there is charm. We stayed in the "Cowboy Attic Suite". My mom immediately had an "experience". I heard a grandfather clock chime throughout our stay. I never saw one and forgot to ask where it was located. I love old clocks. My aunt had her own experience that woke her from her sleep. Everyone we encountered was nice and we appreciated the cander as we asked for their stories/experiences there. The bad....for what we paid, it was not worth it. The floor feels dirty. It is as though they have not thought to clean the carpets in quite some time. Under the bed is a nice layer of dust. The whole hotel could use a moist cloth and a good wipe down. The dust in the display cases throughout the hotel is obvious and off putting. We met Hannibal. Wish we would have booked the seance, but alas, we ran out of time. He was a hoot to talk to.

The entire outside of the hotel is torn up and under construction. There are very few parking spots available, and they are not reserved for hotel guests. We had to park at the Aspire Hotel and walk all of our luggage and belongings up to check in. We stayed in Room 215, which becomes extremely hot in warm weather because the sun sets directly on that side of the hotel (see photos provided). Since the hotel was built in 1909, there is no A/C. When we spoke with the front desk, we were told that once the sun set and temperatures dropped, opening the windows should cool the room down. Unfortunately, the room only cooled from 82 degrees to 79 degrees, and we could not sleep comfortably. Sunday morning, we requested a fan, and a box fan was delivered. Sunday night, the room finally cooled to 74 degrees -- but not until around 5 a.m. Paying $400 per night to be that uncomfortable was very disappointing. We recommend not staying at the hotel until construction is complete. If visiting during warmer months, make sure your room faces the front side of the hotel to avoid the intense afternoon and evening heat The bright spot of the stay was the staff at the restaurants and coffee shop, who were wonderful as always.

We really enjoyed having the hot tub in the room. The bed was super comfy and the linens and towels were plush and soft. I loved the heated towel rack next to hot tub so you were super warm getting out of the tub. Having a fire place was nice to fall asleep to. The cabins reminded me of my childhood home - the carpet, the couches, etc. It's all very early 80's. Oh and the artwork. Wow. There is nothing fancy about these cabins. In fact, I thought the kitchen was pretty drafty and not well insulated. There is a nice little outdoor area where you can eat or just sit if the weather is nice. It is just steps from the Big Thompson and there are little tables out by the riverside too. It's a lovely view. The cabins seem pretty pricy to me though. For my money, I'd stay at the YMCA of the Rockies instead. Those are also rustic but (at least when we stayed, first week of October) cabins were available at a much cheaper rate and seemed pretty comparable. Plus the Y has more activities onsite.

We had a jacuzzi in our room- but not enough hot…read morewater to fill the tube even once! - cabinets not cleaned between visits (or possibly ever!) more like walking into an unkept spare bedroom of a relative who doesn't care. - when we asked for napkins or paper towels or tissues, they said, "we don't stock those items- just toilet paper." - the oven had a mind a mind of it's own (& I know how to work an oven!) turning the control to a lower temperature caused the oven to heat to 450°F- turning the knob down- and it stayed at 450- there was no way to lower the temp without just turning it off. When we asked if there was a trick to getting the oven to work- inn keepers response was, "you can't tell what temp it is, it just goes on or off" We were 2 people- one on queen bed the other on pull out sofa. When sofa pulled out- it blocked front door from opening (can we say: "fire hazard"?) We should have used the fireplace on the last night instead of the first night- even with all the smoke-screen glass doors closed (& the flue open) a charred ash smell heavily lingered in the room for our entire visit. The room doesn't vent very well. We stayed 3 nights in Cottage 7- attached to the inn keepers house- $150 per night End of July (no vacancy in most other places) - despite all mentioned above, it was a place to stay when every other place was booked- in between Estes and entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park- so it gets 2 stars instead of one.
