We stayed here for a retreat and booked several of the cabins. I think I stayed in #6 which was the largest cabin and had two bedrooms, big living room, one bathroom, and a fairly large kitchen with space for all 14 of us to sit at a table. The cabins reminded me of my childhood home - the carpet, the couches, etc. It's all very early 80's. Oh and the artwork. Wow. There is nothing fancy about these cabins. In fact, I thought the kitchen was pretty drafty and not well insulated. There is a nice little outdoor area where you can eat or just sit if the weather is nice. It is just steps from the Big Thompson and there are little tables out by the riverside too. It's a lovely view. The cabins seem pretty pricy to me though. For my money, I'd stay at the YMCA of the Rockies instead. Those are also rustic but (at least when we stayed, first week of October) cabins were available at a much cheaper rate and seemed pretty comparable. Plus the Y has more activities onsite. read more

Overpriced. Things are old and may not work. We had a jacuzzi in our room- but not enough hot water to fill the tube even once! - cabinets not cleaned between visits (or possibly ever!) more like walking into an unkept spare bedroom of a relative who doesn't care. - when we asked for napkins or paper towels or tissues, they said, "we don't stock those items- just toilet paper." - the oven had a mind a mind of it's own (& I know how to work an oven!) turning the control to a lower temperature caused the oven to heat to 450°F- turning the knob down- and it stayed at 450- there was no way to lower the temp without just turning it off. When we asked if there was a trick to getting the oven to work- inn keepers response was, "you can't tell what temp it is, it just goes on or off" We were 2 people- one on queen bed the other on pull out sofa. When sofa pulled out- it blocked front door from opening (can we say: "fire hazard"?) We should have used the fireplace on the last night instead of the first night- even with all the smoke-screen glass doors closed (& the flue open) a charred ash smell heavily lingered in the room for our entire visit. The room doesn't vent very well. We stayed 3 nights in Cottage 7- attached to the inn keepers house- $150 per night End of July (no vacancy in most other places) - despite all mentioned above, it was a place to stay when every other place was booked- in between Estes and entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park- so it gets 2 stars instead of one. read more

I have stayed at a lot of places in my life but this was by far the ABSOLUTE worst. The owner is a quirky 80ish woman who does all the cleaning herself. There are ALOT of repairs needed and I am sure many health code violations. The road noise sounded like a freight train coming through the room. The fan was falling off the ceiling. And the TOILET DIDN'T WORK. Don't stay here! I'd rather sleep in the car. read more

Go somewhere else!!! Sue charged us $350.00 on our CC 2 nights because when we arrived to look at it, it was NOT what she told us!!! It was right on the road with cars driving by non stop!!! I told her we did not want that and she offered me another for $250..00 a night but that did not change the fact they are all on the road, she did not tell me that when I called and asked what kind of view they had. She was so rude she left me standing in her office and never came back even when I knocked on the door. So my CC co. credited back our money (Thank God!!!) and we found another place to stay the rest of our trip. read more

Horrible fraudulent experience. STAY AWAY! Booked the cabin 1 month out being told it had great river views. Knew there were possible travel concerns and asked up to what point we could cancel the reservation, told that we could cancel at anytime and not be charged. Unfortunately, we did need to cancel 1 week ahead and we were told we wouldn't be charged. Then a $210 charge shows up on our credit card statement. We tried calling and getting a hold of the place for 2 weeks, they wouldn't call back or answer emails. I had a local friend stop in to try and understand the charges. The lady insisted that have a cancellation policy, my friend opened the website on her phone and explained we had combed through it and could not find one. The lady said she didn't have her glasses but yelled that it was there and she had better things to do. My friend calmly asked to see the policy in print which they did not have. The lady threatened that she was a lawyer and to take our complaint up with the county. She tells a story that the owner is out of the country but will be back in two weeks. (I suspect she was an owner). My friend asks whether they'll follow up with us. She wouldn't answer. It turns out they close for the season in 2 weeks. I read on trip advisor later on people suggest sleeping in your car is better than this place. Stay away. Worst customer service experience ever. read more

We high tailed it out of this Bates motel a day early it was so bad. Stay away! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We stayed in unit 3. It was dirty, sheets and towels smelled like spoiled milk. Carpet hadn't been cleaned in years. Window blinds were covered in dust and filth. Mattresses were very old and uncomfortable. Pull out beds were broken and impossible to sleep on. The screen doors kept opening in the night, keeping us up on top of the lumpy uncomfortable beds. The outdoor grill was filthy. The entry way had exposed nails with a layer of duct tape as a repair. It's ok to have an older place, but the innkeepers need to keep the place up and invest in their cottages. read more

Horrible, horrible place for the price paid. The cottage we stayed in was number 1. Where do I start? The front door wouldn't stay closed unless you locked it, the shower stall was big, but the shower head came out of the wall at my neck. The bathroom was so small that I could barely turn around in it, the toilet was so close to the wall in front of it that I had to sit almost sideways to use it. The queen size bed was hard as a piece of wood, was against the wall with the tv on it (I had to move the bed to the other wall just so I could see it from the bed). The fold out couch would not open all the way without moving the desk away from the front of it (and where the hell was I supposed to put it, there was no room!) The place was dirty (when we attempted to unfold the hideaway bed, we found old dog chew bones underneath). The bathroom floor looked like it had a shit stain in the corner. The decor, everything down to the cabinets and plates looked like something from the 1940's. The owners dogs were constantly yapping, the surrounding walkways going down to the rivers edge were in poor shape, not level, and even the deck wasn't level. Half of the lights on the property were hanging from their wires where they were broken. It was noisy, crappy parking, and hot as hell; no ac, didn't even offer a packet of coffee for their little tiny 4 cup pot. I even asked if they had any at the front counter and they said don't offer anything. I paid $120 a night to stay in this dump. Never never never again! read more

So, here is the story, I wanted to take my family, who was visiting from Brazil, to Estes Park. I was looking for a cabin large enough for 6 and 2 toddlers. This place looked alright on the web, a little bit pricey but had everything I wanted. River views, fireplace, grill, enough space... We got there and it looked a little dirty, but ok. The first night was fine, we barbecued outside and life was good! Second night we decide to cook and that's were the trouble started. We turned on the oven ( menu was salmon and pasta) and started the water for the pasta, when suddenly we got a blackout. We look outside and the cabin next to ours also did not have energy, but the others did We go to the front desk, the lady who apparently runs the place by herself ask my husband: "where you doing something funny...?" (what??!) So my husband, a little annoyed answers - No, we where cooking but nobody was laughing... So after trying to solve the problem herself for about half an hour, she finally calls someaone, and after 40 min they come and the guy tells us there is a problem in the circuit for the cabins (old) and we should use the least energy possible (heat is electric) and do not turn the range or oven on. We are starving and order a pizza. Next morning we are about to leave I ask the lady for a discount, since we had to order pizza and cannot cook breakfast, also for staying about 2 hours in the dark, with too screaming toddlers. She tells us no, the guy never said we could not use the range, just the oven, and that we would have plenty of time to cook breakfast if we still wanted to (we had 35 minutes from checkout time). I told her, look, we are all packed, we were told that we were no supposed to turn anything that wasn't necessary on, and I thing that for a $140 / night, we were supposed to get a working kitchen. She had the audacity to tell me she would give me $5 back, I told her not to bother, so she practically throw a $20.00 bill at me. I leave, thinking about how happy I was to have sign out for yelp so I could bitch about the place. read more

Very, very overpriced. We paid $200/night and we had to deal with the garbage and towels ourselves. Room was small and stuffy (and not all rooms have view of river, fireplace, and other amenities) and some stuff in the bathroom was broken (faucet and doorknob screws coming off). Low water pressure in the shower. Decor was old-fashioned but fine. The owner was very nice. read more

Skyline Cottages Review I recently booked a cabin I found on an official Estes Park website, and was defrauded out of $405 ! Skyline Cottages has photos of their rooms and outdoor areas on their website that are at least 30 years old, and there is now virtually NO UPKEEP performed on the property, inside or out! The owner DEMANDED FULL PAYMENT for the 3 nights we reserved BEFORE she showed us the room! We soon found out why......it was DISGUSTINGLY SEEDY and FILTHY! We asked for a different room, which turned out to be not much better, but my elderly Mother & I were exhausted from driving 5 hours, so we felt we could not set out to look for other accommodations that late in the day! But after a night of very little sleep, we left the next morning, and the owner, Sue Lamb, refused to refund any of our money! We later talked to 2 other resort owners in Estes Park, both of whom were aware that Ms. Lamb frequently defrauds her guests, some of whom came to them in tears, after a sickening experience trying to sleep in these awful, dilapidated rooms! They also were forced to pay before seeing their room's condition. It's apparent that this is the modus operandi for this establishment. I feel the Estes Park business community should have better oversight of resorts that appear on their website. I know I will NEVER set foot in that town again, and I imagine the other people who were ripped off feel the same way! DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, CONSIDER STAYING AT THIS MOTEL ! read more

I would not stay there again. It's more expensive than a motel and not as comfortable. The website promises "sparkling" cabins, but pull out a table to plug something in and you'll see otherwise (plenty o' cobwebs!). The bed wasn't comfortable, and the room is smaller than the photos online make you think it will be. Oh, and you get to empty your own trash, clean any dishes you used, and turn in used towels at the office and bring back clean ones to hang up for the next people who stay there. Since you have to do all that, it seems like it ought to cost less, not more, than other places. read more

I am very disappointed in this place. At first I thought that the customer service was great but that all changed the next day. The rooms are very outdated, which we can deal with but the bed was HORRIBLE. It felt like we were sleeping on springs. I brought it to her attention and we tried to figure out a solution so we could stay our second night but we didn't. We left and she wouldn't give us our money back. We couldn't stay another night on that bed, it's there fault that we had to leave since the bed was so BAD. She ended up renting the same room that day, so not only she DIDN'T give us our money back but she made more money renting that room out after her keeping our money. Wonderful Estes Park Vacation spot for Couple or Family. This is a beautiful location @ the base of the Rocky Mountain National Park. I don't think you can get much closer. Cottages were clean with full kitchens. Owners were very nice and we had a great time watching the wildlife across the stream. We cooked out and drank wine in the evening by the water. This place has everything I wanted. Here's what we got in Unit #7: Most important, terrific location. Five minutes to the Park entrance. Scenic river right at the back of the property. Estes Park is close enough... but not too close. The unit: Spacious porch, an outdoor grill. Big bed, and sofa-bed. A skylight. Baseboard heat for those chilly mornings. Tiny kitchen with everything we wanted. Jacuzzi. Internet. Everything is spotless, cheerful, everything is working. Everything is homey and nothing is new. There's soap in the bathroom, but you're asked to take out your own trash when you leave. That's the level of service I was looking for. Finally, the host Sue was friendly, helpful, but unobtrusive. I would come back here any chance I get. read more

6/16/15 Our stay was a very pleasant experience. Our cabin was right over the Big Thompson River. Had a nice deck to enjoy the rushing river with a nice glass of wine. The unit had plenty of space with a separate bedroom. Was clean and comfortable. These are cozy clean and charming cabins. They're away from the hustle and bustle of Estes Park yet close enough to run pickup anything we forgot. Would highly recommend a stay here. read more

This is not a nice place. The facility is desperately in need of repair and updating. Electrical and plumbing is so bad that I don't think it's safe. Our shower flooded when my wife took a shower. I told the lady who operates it and she got mad at us because she needed to go somewhere and didn't have Tim for it. I would never recommend this place. My family and I have been going to Skyline Cottages since 2011. Over this period of time we have stayed in the majority of the cabins. In 2012 we had a family reunion and used all of the cabins. Everyone of the cabins were exceptionally clean and the decor in each was different and extremely nice. There is a river walk right on the Big Thompson River with plenty of tables and chairs. The view of the river coming toward you was great along with the view of the mountains. There is also a large deck with tables and chairs that overlook the river and the mountains. We went back in 2013 and 2014, and just recently left there after a stay over memorial weekend. We have already made arrangements for another family reunion in 2016. Sue the owner always goes out of her way to make sure we are taken care of. It is an absolute great place to vacation at. All of our family can hardly wait until we can go back. read more
