Bunya Tree Spa is my new go to spot for massages. Prior to coming, like another review had mentioned, I was a bit skeptical because I saw that the location of spa was located inside a house in a residential area. However, that concern quickly faded away when I entered the spa and saw how clean and professional the spa was. I was also immediately greeted by June who was very warm and welcoming. In regard to the massage itself, I absolutely loved every second of it. Rita applied the perfect amount of strength and time to address the tense areas of my body noted on the intake form. Additionally, Rita used her forearm and entire hand throughout the massage which I really appreciate (I mention this because many of the masseuses I've worked with at other spas use their elbows and lower palm to apply pressure, leaving me with more pain that I already came in with). My first time at Bunya... I usually get a deep tissue massage and June didn't disappoint. She made sure to ask throughout the therapy if the pressure was good adjusting as needed. I also like how she incorporated stretching . I believe that would be the Thai massage. I'm able to get that extra stretch that I otherwise wouldn't be able to accomplish by myself. What a special place. You are welcomed by a sweet little garden in front with flowers and windchimes. Once inside, you immediately feel at home (literally). Extra touches abound, like the warm footbath upon arrival when you are filling out the intake form. The massage room was very warm and smelled good. During the massage, each time I was moved to a different position, the masseuse put a warm compress on my back or under my neck. The amount of pressure was just right. I choose a partial Thai massage customized with hot stones and traditional massage. The menu is thorough with add ons available. The location is easy to find with plenty of parking right out front. I had an amazing first massage today at Bunya Tree spa. I chose "custom massage" because I didn't know exactly what I wanted. As soon as I walked in to the very unassuming building, my feet were put into a bath of warm water with orange slices. It only got better from there. June was amazing, and very responsive to particular instructions for more/less intensity. The heated oil and towels were a nice touch. I left feeling relaxed and happy. Had a 60 minute deep tissue massage and it was fantastic. I didn't get the name of my masseuse but she was great. The studio is very clean and everyone there was very welcoming. When you arrive, they welcome you with a foot soak and a foot scrub which a lot of massage places around the Bay Area don't tend to do. It reminded me of the massage studios in Thailand where they also proceed a massage with a foot scrub. It's the extra little things that can make an experience from good to great. I received a 90 min Thai massage from June and it was wonderful. Before the session, I received a warm water foot bath and a pair of pants to wear during the massage. The pressure June provided was perfectly attuned to the tension in my body and muscles and I felt well cared for. Oh my goodness! I just had the best massage I've had in decades at a hidden gem in my neighborhood called Bunya Tree Spa. I was skeptical because it's located in a house, but once you get in you'll understand that it's a whole place of business. I got the 90 min Thai Massage. It was amazing! She kneeded the kinks out of me, and stretched my limbs out so well I cried. I made another appt. for two weeks from now. My fiancé surprised me with a deep tissue massage at Bunya Tree Spa and it was a surprise driving up to what looked like a home, but don't let that fool you. I had what I would describe as one of the best massages I have ever had! The experience started with a relaxing foot soak while sipping some DELICIOUS tea. Followed by a really spectacular deep tissue massage. Somehow the masseuse was able to balance deep tissue with slow precise movements that left me relaxed. I hold lots of tension in my neck and they were able to massage and release tension that I had never experienced before. I highly recommend a deep tissue massage here.
