Unbelievable change in prices. Yet another business taking advantage of the pandemic and subsequent inflation. My wife and I had a double burger and 7" beef. I asked if we would save money if we got both orders as "meals", we were told yrs. We'll here's the deal, we saved 29 cents on each meal for a total of 58 cents total savings and then were charged over $12 for the drink and fries. Total cost for 2 meals was just under $30. I even spoke to the manager and confirmed this was what I was charged. I can tell you for fact it wasn't this way pre-pandendemic. WARNING!!! DO NOT TRUST THEM TO MAKE GLUTEN FREE. We ordered and it is clearly stated that we required a gluten free pizza for my daughter which they clearly advertise and offer. Turns out the cant even relay that to the cooks so my daughter is now sick due to getting glutened by them. When asked who will be paying her medical expenses the state that it is not there fault. You have to be able to trust places to live up to what they offer and buona surely did not and wont even stand behind the fact that they screwed up. This review is for their sausage sandwich. I've lived in IL for close to 5 years now and never tried the sausage here until about a month ago. I was amazed. It was better than the rest I've had for the mos part. Big fennel pieces! Reminded me of Premio brand back in NJ for the first time since moving here. To make it better.. their grilled onions are uniquely prepared. It's a red onion thinly slice, lightly charred.. amazing! Jay's Beef was my hands down favorite from NW Chicago but now I must say, The sausage at Buona is right up there too! Gotta give credit where it's due, even if it's a chain. read more

Had the chicken avocado bowl today. Went through the drive-thru. The bowl was so good, served warm with a generous portion of chicken and avocado. The flavor was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised! We've been here a few times as a family for dinner, by myself for lunch, and with guests from out of town on a busy day, and have yet to have a bad experience! We went here for dinner. I normally go to Portillo's but this is close to my daughter's home and she and my grandson like it. I ordered beef with sweet peppers as did my daughter and my grandson ordered the chicken parm sandwich. The wait wasn't too long but they brought my grandson a different chicken sandiwich. When we told them there was an error, they were speechless and looked at each other as if this was a big problem. They were polite but no one took action. So we repeated the error and they said OK, they would make the right sandwich. My daughter stopped them from taking the whole order back and asked them to pleave the fries at least as my grandson was hungry. It took about another 15 minutes to get his order and they brought it without fries because we asked them to leave the other ones. I just felt that they could have brought out a complete order. Kind of petty but not mean. There were plenty of sweet pepppers and the beef was OK but the wrapping was wax and it smelled like melting candle wax on my food. We all agreed on that. Paper is better because the wax actually nelts on the hot food. I hope they change that. The fries were good and the ambiance was OK, kind of cold and high tech, but clean. I think it would have been nice to offer a cookie or another order of fries in lieu of the error that puzzled them but all places these days have their issues with not enough people and COVID restrictions. I ordered online, with a promised pickup time of 5:27pm. I got there at 5:25pm and was told to park in front of the restaurant and my order would be right out. I waited a long time and finally asked someone who was delivering another order where my order was. I finally got my order at 5:58 and by the time I got home, my food was cold. read more

They were great early on during COVID, but last few months seemed to have slipped. Takes multiple times to explain the order to a few of the drive thru attendants, sometimes on a simple burger - it gets frustrating. I ordered with the app once, said food would be ready and I wasn't early at all, and sat for almost 10mins in the designated spot. At Culver's, they come out instantly. Today, ordered two burgers and fries, the special for today. For some reason, we had to wait about 5mins for these, at what is a burger / beef / fry joint, and when I got home less than 2miles away, they weren't that warm except for the fries. I'll continue to go here and support a family owned operation (I actually handled a claim for Carlos B. when someone T-boned his Corvette some 20years ago, really nice guy!), but either there is new mgmt here or the staff has just regressed. Sunday afternoon, only my second time there. No napkins and black bug in my ice water. Ugh! No napkins holders on any tables, so I couldn't even go to another table to get some. Waiter didn't bring any. So I had to get up, leave my sandwich on the table and go ask the counter clerk for napkins for the drippy sandwich. She said I'll being you some, and she did. I grew up eating at Buona and always thought it was just okay. After giving this new location in Wheaton a shot I was blown away. The food was really fresh tasting and delicious. There was ample, comfortable seating. It's not like some other spots where you have to fight for a table. It was also very clean. I had kind of glossed it over when they first put this restaurant in, but I would love to come back here. We ordered delivery on Jan. 1. After ordering online at 7:50 pm, we saw that delivery would be done by doordash. We could see the order in progress and got a notification that it would be ready by 8:25pm, so we figured by 8:35/8:40 it would be delivered. It was snowy outside, but we live only about 5-6 min away. It wasn't delivered until around 9:15 pm. Everything was cold. A salad that we ordered and paid extra for chicken came without chicken. Another salad came with no dressing. The beef bowl came without peppers. All of our orders were missing something. I called and talked to someone who said he was the manager. He said he would refund me only for the missing chicken if I gave him my email, and the refund would come in 24-48 hours. He should have refunded our entire bill, since there were so many mistakes and it arrived COLD over 30 minutes late. 3 days later and I have no email, no refund, no response. read more

First time at Buona and I am impressed. Really friendly service and the restaurant is super clean. As for the food, kept it simple... just did beef. Very flavorful and the original way is the perfect amount of juice. They even let my son get his kid's beef the Rizzo way. Seems like a win for the whole family! read more

Ordered food just a beef and cheese fry placed my order at 630-640pm didn't receive my food till 810pm the food was so cold I had to reheat everything only to find a long hair in my beef. Very unsatisfied never had this problem at portillos. read more

DO NOT ORDER CATERING. I ordered a simple catering order from this location, the box leaked all over the back of our car, and there wasn't any erratic driving involved, just a simple drive straight home on roosevelt road. The large trays were not boxed or bagged securely and it leaked all over our car and the box was a soggy disaster that we had to deal with when we attempted to remove the food and put it out. In addition to the leaking all over the car and mess we had to deal with, they also included only half the rolls we needed for the beef sandwiches. Furthermore, I even paid extra for rolls for the sausages and they didn't include those. I ordered catering to make an event at my house more convenient to manage, instead I found myself cleaning our car and putting towels down on our buffet station to mitigate the damage from the the leaky boxes, and running to the store in the middle of the party to get rolls because Buona couldn't get the order right. Buona won't reimburse me for the detailing to my car, but they'll definitely be sure to charge me for the entire order and upcharge for extra (ghost) rolls. read more

I visited Buona Beef one time right off Naperville Rd near Ogden many many years ago wasn't impressed, so on this particular day my grandson wanted me to drive to portillos I agreed that I would, I waited to late to decide to go, it was rush hour now so I told him there's a Buona Beef down the street would you like to havetry them he immediately said No! I rather have portillos I told him it's too much traffic now, he said "ok I try Buona Beef" not only did this kid get a beef and fries after he destroyed that beef he wanted a pizza to take home. Oh! In the process of destroying that beef he looked me dead in my eyes and said Portillos is out of here, this place have them beat this is my new beef place. Honestly I had to bring him back the next day and you would have thought this was his first visit to Buona Beef. I have to admit it's my new beef place too. Only complaint I have is the workers/servers talking and reaching over customers food in the back area, as I observed this I did see little splashes of saliva exit ones mouth not sanitary at all let's be mindful staff otherwise the environment is friendly and relaxing.
