My local go-to Chicago style hot dog place closed so I'm on the look out. Small place with a few tables, was really hot inside. People must like them, they had people waiting when we got there, more came while we were waiting & they got a few phone orders. Huge menu from hot dogs & italian beef to tacos & nachos. We ordered a combo sandwich, hot dog, 2 pizza puffs & 2 fries = $38. Seemed a little high to me. The food was ok. The beef in the combo was bland but the sausage was pretty spicy. The guy taking orders was very friendly, guys making the food were fast & efficient. Seemed like a great team! However between the price & not being knocked out by the food, we'll keep looking. read more

Me and my wife recently stopped her while we were in the area to see what was featured here. I enjoy the location of the hot dog joint just because everything around it is ethnic business wise. I ordered some hot dogs to dine in while my wife ran out to grab some Ethiopian food next door. The food here was great but i felt that the staff just wanted to rush me out of there even though there wasn't any other clients at all. Food here is solid and it hit the spot really well. Prices here are just a bit High but is a small family business so understandable. Place is showing its age a bit too. Overall, solid recommend to stop at for casual visit. read more

Do not try the Italian beef compa deff made me have to use the bathroom after. Charged extra for cheese and peppers wouldn't consider it an Italian beef on the DHZ. Only good thing was the fries not even gon lie. read more

Upon walking in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and I loved that. The guy working the counter was super nice. Place is over small and so is the dining area but I ordered my food to go. Ordered the hot dog special; mustard, relish, onion and sport peppers only. No tomato or pickle. Opened the first dog, their attempt at a Chicago style dog. Second was the same. Fries, unsalted after asking for extra salt. Who doesn't salt fries? If you don't salt them when they come out of the fryer, they are not going to be good. All potatoes need salt no matter how you're serving them. Took the food back and they just pulled the pickles and tomatoes off the dogs and threw some onions on. Didn't even give me fresh fries. Diana's has a menu with a good variety of food types, From Mexican, American and Greek to who knows what else. As the name suggests it's a hot dog place. However hot dogs seem to be more of a sideline to their packed item choices. Burgers, Dogs, Gyros, Tamales and the list goes on. My most frequent order is either the two dog and fry special or the gyros. Today was the two dogs and fries. Their dogs are Vienna beef brand which is my favorite. They serve this on a steamed bun, I get mine Chicago Style, with all the great garnishes. They wrap the two hot dogs together with a sizable portion of fries and off you go. I don't like how the buns get squashed with this method but this is a common way with hot dog joints. The fries are the medium thickness type and always cooked to perfection fresh to order. This place is a hole-in-the-wall but this type of restaurant typically has great food and this one does as well. The owners, service and employees are over the top friendly. Always very welcoming and polite. I have been going here for many years and plan to continue for many more! read more

I popped into Diana's Red Hots on a whim and am glad I did, it's a great spot to grab a bite! The truth is, I had a craving for a gyro and (naturally) wanted to try someplace new. Stumbling across Diana's here on Yelp I had to give it a shot. The reviews do it justice, it's a wonderful little spot. I arrived well after the lunch rush so there wasn't really anyone (customers) inside eating. Which was fine, b/c it's a cozy place, they have about 5 or so tables? After placing my order I sat down and had to wait only a few minutes for the food to be hand-delivered to my table; what service! I had a gyro meal (it came with fries and a drink) plus a Chicago-style hot dog. Everything came out hot and tasted fresh. In fact, the fries were so good I could not stop eating them! The hot dog was nicely made and the bun was so soft (no poppy seeds though...). And the gyro was a good-sized sandwich with plenty of meat and sauce (just how I like it). The guy who took my order, I think he's the manager/owner?, was the nicest guy. He's the one that delivered my food and he was also super nice about helping me set up a high chair. On top of that, a regular customer came in and seeing the interaction b/t the two really drove home the point of this small business with a homey feel. Moved here in the summer and Diana's gyros have become a weekly craving. I was new to it the first time coming to this place and have absolutely fallen in love with the Chicago gyro. After being here 6+ months, Diana's is still the go-to spot. No one beats the price or amount. Ask for the gyro special. 9.99 for a HUGE gyro, fries and a drink. I'm a big guy and this thing gets me STUFFED. I usually order an extra pita bread and make 2 sandwiches. Keep telling myself to try other items on the menu but I cant pull away. I'm upset I didn't discover this place sooner! The menu is very impressive. They have everything you would expect from a Chicago hot dog place, plus a full Mexican menu. I ordered the Italian Beef, dipped with giardiniera and mozzarella. It was perfect! The beef was delicious and more than enough to fill you up. My wife ordered the patty melt, which she said was very pretty good, but the patty was small. The restaurant is not huge, but very clean. The guy that took my order was very friendly. Diana's Red Hots is a small fast food joint located on the Southeast corner of North Avenue and Schmale Road in Carol Stream. When you walk in you'll notice that it's very hot inside as the cooking equipment is very closely packed into the front. When I went to Diana's I ordered the hot dog. The hot dog comes with fries and is a skinless vienna beef dog. The bun was a regular non-poppy seed bun. The pickle was cut thinly but was not quite long enough to get pickle in every bite. It was light on mustard and relish but had a decent amount of onions. The relish included was not the neon green style found at most Chicago style hot dog joints, but wasn't too sour either. The peppers included weren't too hot and complimented the dog nicely. The bun wasn't particularly soft, but it wasn't hard either. The fries included were thick, they were fairly cripsy on the outside and had a decent potato filling. They weren't too salty, but were a bit on the greasy side. Overall this was an average at best Chicago style hot dog. The light condiments, regular bun and so so fries included keep it from reaching the three star plateau. This is the best place and the most amazing hot dog spot I have ever been to! Diana's Red Hots is really fantastic! Absolutely a spot for a quick breakfast or brunch. They have gyros, beef sandwiches, burritos, and their famous hot dogs. All of it is worth trying and affordable. The portions of their food are large and generous. You can absolutely fill your stomach up with just one of their meal on the menu. Very great serving. I ordered their Polish Sausage, Hot Dogs, Fries, and a drink. My bill is not that big and I also ordered a take-home meal. Their prices here are reasonable and budget-friendly. You can literally order anything you want from their menu without breaking your pockets. They have a wide variety of food. All of it was made-to-order and freshly prepared. Really awesome food spot. Their staff here was really nice, decent, and professional. They all know how to do their job properly and treat the customers so well. All of them are well-trained. You can freely ask them anything you want to ask and they will be going to answer you directly in a professional way. I am really impressed with their staff. I loved how they handled their customers and despite their place being very busy they can still give the customers the most satisfying service.
