Buono's is--hands down--the best bagel place on or around rt 17. They're fast, friendly, and delish. They make their egg and cheese bagel sandwiches the right way (that is, warm and a bit messy). Love this place! The bagels are awesome, the staff is super friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I use to go here almost everyday on the way to work for breakfast. A couple weeks ago I stopped at Buono Bagels for breakfast since it's on my way to work. I ordered an everything flagel (flat bagel) with sun-dried tomato cream cheese and was charged $1.75. Thought that was a reasonable price for a bagel and it was really good. This morning, I stopped again, ordered the same thing and was charged $4.84. When I questioned the woman she explained the price, which made sense, and I paid. However, why are there price inconsistencies from week to week?! I've heard this had happened to other patrons too who stopped buying from Buono for this reason. I want to really like them since their bagels are good, but I don't want to be ripped off either! Even after my previous review, I still went here on occasion because their bagels are pretty good. But the customer service is just consistently terrible. I'm over being treated like they are doing me a favor by allowing me to give them my money. So, after waiting in line while the person in front of me was being helped by two people at once, only to have both of those people turn and walk away without a word once they finished the joint activity of ringing him up, I won't be going back. This is very local to my job. While the bagels are decent the service is terrible. Everyone is always so rude, you always feel rushed when trying to order. I was traveling thru the area and hadn't eaten breakfast. I stopped in Buono to get egg whites on an everything and a coffee. It was $8, a little expensive I thought but I was starving! I handed the cashier my debit card. The minimum is $10. Ok so tried to use their ATM which wasn't working. "Just buy more bagels" the man said. I don't want more bagels I just want my breakfast. Horrible bagels. As I walked I got confused it was hard to navigate to the cashier. The place seemed confusing as where to order. Some guy from behind the bagel stand asked if I wanted anything and I asked for a bacon egg and cheese. When he went to put the bacon on the grill I saw where they keep the bacon. It is all stacked up ontop of eachother and is sitting in an aluminum container. It seemed very dirty and messy that I asked the guy for just a bagel with cream cheese. Than when I went to pay I asked for a large iced coffee with little milk and sugar. He came back with a coffee that looked more light brown than dark brown. It was basically a cup of ice with milk. This place used to be the best bagels around. Not sure what has happened to them lately but i would suggest you find a new bagel shop, there certainly are plenty around. Last few times i have been there i have had two wrong orders and some of their bagels are just over cooked. Hands down the best bagels I've EVER had. They are magical. Any time my family drives down from upstate New York, they demand Buono bagels. The owner, Fred, has put together a magnificent menagerie of all of the deli favorites, and then some. The staff is fun and friendly and always greets you with a smile. I was not going to post until I went on here out of curiosity after an issue yesterday when I took my son and his friends for breakfast. They were boys sitting together at a table being boys....not rude, not disrespectful, not vulgar, not destructive...just being 9-10 yrs old joking with each other. As others have stated, the customer service was offensive and rude. One of the counter persons (male) said to another customer as I was standing right there in line behind him that "we should have thrown them out after they finished their bagels". When I approached him directly (as I was next in line) he denied and said "you don't know what you are talking about...." Offensive and rude is correct about this place (and I had been a customer for years) but dealt with it because I liked the bagels and sandwiches. No more. THE BEST!!!! I always get my standard in the morning. Bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel, salt pepper and ketchup.. I have gotten this at probably two dozen bagel shops across north jersey. Bueno's has by far the best bagels around, and I don't know what they do different, but their cheese is soooo much better and thicker then anyone else. I started going here after the place on Main St. closed. The Good: Only place in Ramsey that serves good quality bagels (at least until Bagel Stop's replacement opens), the breakfast sandwiches are pretty good too. The Bad: Everytime I'm in here I feel like they're trying to get every dollar possible out of me and has none of the feel of a friendly local NJ bagel place. One example: I ordered a potato and cheese on a bagel. They charged me the same price for a sandwich that includes that plus bacon and egg. When I asked the manager he rudely said that they can't make exceptions when something isn't on the menu. Guess it's tough to add up the price of a slice of cheese and potato side to a bagel. I was there with my buddies and I read through the reviews and it seems to me that the ones that are deemed not relevant should actually be considered since the same exact thing with the price just getting jacked up happened to me. I don't like not knowing the price of something that I'm buying. These surprises are not welcome. If you are going to charge more, let me understand why. Haven't bought a bagel from here yet but ordered The Boss Sandwich which I thought was excellent. Fresh Prosuitto which was great and the Mozz and Roasted Peppers were very tasty.
