The atmosphere, view and decore are outstanding. Most seats have an unobstructed view of the water and all its activities. Waitstaff are attentive without being intrusive. I suspect menu has changed since opening as price points seem fair for quantity and quality. We started with an Aperol Spritz that truthfully could have been slightly better (unbalanced). Next up a salumi plate that was amazing. As we were having a large main we went with the selection of two meats and two cheeses (selection changes seasonaly). I would highly recommend this as starter. Food portions are large, presenting beautiful. Food preparation could be slightly improved. My companions pasta (Sunday Sauce) was over cooked and mine (Agnolotti) was swimming in sauce. Pizza appeared to be a good choice. If we make it back, might try that. Would I run back for another meal, no. I wouldn't intentionally avoid it either. read more

An exquisite food experience. Overlooking the Gibsons Warf we were spoiled with the very best in comfort food. Freshly made with local ingredients and love. You really have to eat here. It's worth the drive/ferry/sailboat/flight/hitchhike. It was so obvious the food is cooked with heart. We had the burrata, smoked olives, cacio e peppe, vongole, creme brûlée and panna cotta and they were all amazing. This is a welcome and wonderful addition to Gibsons and is officially our favourite spot to eat here. read more

We walked in on a Monday night not expecting to need a reservations. The place was very busy. The front of house manager was very accommodating to find us a seat. She sat us at the bar for drinks until a table opened up near the window. The service was friendly from our server but a little slow. The restaurant appeared seemed understaffed but we were happy to wait with such nice views. The food was excellent quality and some of the tastiest we had on our trip to Gibsons! Went last night, was really looking forward to this place opening as the town of gibsons needs a decent family style eatery. The renovation has been done nicely and the space has an airy, modern feel to it. The service upon arrival was good and we were seated quickly, we had our baby with us and a high chair was supplied without too much hassle which was refreshing. We ordered a couple orders of thier bruschetta and the salumi to start, the bruschetta was executed well, fresh and flavourful. The salumi plate was mediocre, although presented nicely the meats were pretty generic and the cheese ( although served at room temperature) were a little bit dull which was a bit dissapointing. Moving on,we ordered two pizzas, the salsiccia and the margarita and also some roasted cauliflower. The pizza crusts were beautifuly baked however the toppings still need some refining, there was a distinct lack of consistency in the sausage on the salsiccia and there seemed to be an abundance of olive oil, flavour wise it checked all the boxes for me, I think being a new restaurant with a fairly new crew is part of the problem ( as all new ventures). The margarita got good reviews from the rest of the party however the mozzarella had the same lack of consistency as the sausage, I suspect the mozzarella was made in house but not sure, regardless, flavour wise a thumbs up all round. The roasted cauliflower disappeared in minutes and was far and away the star of the meal, very good ! I ordered a g&t and was asked which gin I would like, I asked what they had and the server didn't know the names, again I would put this down to teethin problems and no way effected the experience, bedsides, the gin turned up and it was spot on. I would recommend this place, I'll def be going back, great vibe, great space and well thought out menu, once they get their feet firmly planted this will be one of gibsons best places to eat and drink, thumbs up from me read more

Despite some of the middling reviews we gave this a try and were very pleased. The room is really nicely done, casual and tasteful. The service was fast and courteous, although we went on a Monday night and it was not busy. Our appy and pizza were served promptly and were delicious- we had the special pizza which was prosciutto and pear based . Prices were reasonable, drink menu seemed decent. After doing the Art Crawl, we were lucky to get a spot by the bar... we chose the Porcine and Gnochetti Bolognese for our mains - both were delicious and flavourful, especially when accompanied by a unique Negromare red from Puglia that was on the wine list. Had a lovely date night in Mangia Monday at Buono. Clam spaghetti for me, Pera pizza for my wife. But the dessert -- house made chocolate tort -- was rich, and a cross between a rich luscious cake and a smooth dark ganache. Served with poached rhubarb (new to me and delicious) with a very light but tasty strawberry gelato and pistachios. If you get a chance and are craving a wonderful dessert, try this. Sure, it can be shared, but I got more than half. Sorry Cele. Don't share next time. And you got more pistachios anyway. read more

Not impressed with our food here May 29th. The front staff were pleasant, however, that doesn't make up for the Sunday Sauce pasta which was just a bland tomato sauce, meatballs (2) will so cut with parma or something, no longer tasted like meat. But more disappointing, they did not even fill their own to go container HALF WAY for the price we paid of over $20. Come on Buono, food cost on pasta is cheap, fill the damn container at 2/3. - at least. Gibson's has alot more Italian to choose from, take your hard earned money elsewhere, especially if you're hungry read more

Our server was very natural and offered great recommendations and insight into the menu. From the Risotto balls to the charcuterie board to the pasta... everything was on point. I came to the Sunshine Coast for my birthday weekend just to try Buono Osteria cause I heard how good it was! I was NOT disappointed!! First off the view from your table is stunning and that stands alone. I had the Local clam spaghetti and I swear their was at least 15 clams in my dish. Usually you get like 5. This is Patrick's favorite restaurant! They WELCOME you after 9 PM....The Cesar salad is marvelous, tasty, interesting and the croutons are memorable for their size, taste and texture ( not too soft, not too hard). The pizzas are very interesting, unique and well designed for flavors that meld deliciously. There is a brick oven and the pizza crust is light, it even has air holes in it. We are looking to a return visit for homemade pasta with truffle. Pizza was outstanding- thin crust - great combinations. Pear and balsamic! Pasta - housemade - fresh, al dente and delicious. Truffle on pasta so good. Sangria was great and Aperol spritz perfect. Overrated. Overpriced. They know they can charge these prices because good food is few and far between here. Doesn't mean it's worth it.

So I tried to reserve a dinner for my family while visiting. Popped in and a friendly enough guy scribbled down the details and promised to call later to confirm. Sure enough no call so when I called day of they had no record and of course could not give me a table. I can't of course comment on the food but the customer service experience in just getting me a table has put me off trying. Get organized folks or you won't last long... lots of other great places to eat in Gibson's. read more

Excellent food, great atmosphere and great service. Had the caesar salad, focaccia and pizza. Best authentic pizza I have ever had (other then when I was traveling in Italy) and the caesar salad has essentially ruined me for all other caesar salads (it was so delicious!) Seating was very comfortable (no arms on the chairs which I prefer and space between tables so you don't feel cramped) and the ocean view is incredible. Prices are reasonable when considering the quality of food. Portions are big (we ordered way too much and ended up taking a good portion to go). You definitely gotta eat here! read more

She seemed almost offended and did not offer alternative suggestions for beverages. Appetizers came out without any napkins or utensils. Traveling through from the States and lucked onto this place. Wood-fired oven, all dishes created from scratch including the pasta and breads, delicious smoked olives (smoked onsite), scrumptious desserts you should definitely save some room for, and local beer and wine (I had the Persephone Coast Life lager and it was outstanding). Restaurant was well-staffed and we had stellar service. Our wait person Susie was helpful with ordering suggestions and very attentive. I'm am giving Buono Osteria 4 stars so that my comments do not weigh down their overall score. Buono Osteria is a beautiful restaurant with a gorgeous view of the Gibsons, BC waterfront. We were looking forward to its opening this spring. The venue, the staff and the cocktails are fabulous. The concept is good but they need to hire a Chef from outside to rework the recipes. There is a lot of promise here but without an outside Chef's intervention on the taste, recipes and menu, this restaurant will fail. Take charge with a new palate this summer!! We walked in and asked for a table by the window. As none were available, we sat at the bar to wait. We ordered drinks which were sublime. Good start. Our table came available so we sat down and ordered. The bruschetta arrived. The toasted bread was burnt which ruined the delicate flavour of the tomatoes. Our beef carpaccio was very good, however it was all downhill from there. We had ordered a simple pasta with red sauce and meatballs and a prosciutto and pear pizza. The pears were underripe, there was very little topping for the way too thick crust and, continuing the theme, the edges of the crust was burnt. The pasta sauce severely lacked seasoning. They do not offer salt or pepper and when you ask, they bring a large grinder and salt in a small salad dressing dish. For a restaurant that appears to be of high calibre, they should have salt and pepper grinders on each table. Once I had mentioned the burnt bruschetta toast, the service became abysmal. They apologised for the underripe pears and gave us a free dessert which we hadn't asked for, didn't want and didn't like. Overall, I would not recommend this place. I was very excited to go there for the first time as a local.The space looks amazing and although we just had drinks we would like to come back with our kids for dinner,as it looks very child friendly.I did not find the bartenders very friendly or welcoming which was disappointing,as I like to also feel that I can come for a drink alone and is nice to be greeting warmly.I am still going to try again as it was very busy and our friends said the food is very good. read more

I am always willing to give a new business the benefit of the doubt if my first experience isn't great, but for this place where I have now been 4 times (twice by my choice and twice as a guest) I will say it's not likely that I would ever return. The views are awesome, the food is mediocre and the staff are either indifferent or lazy, and the management is even more indifferent! The first dinner was with a group of 6 women and it was 45 minutes between the delivery of the first main and the last. But, like I said, they were newly opened and very busy, so I gave that a pass. The second time we went was the best of the four visits, and that was only because when I asked for gluten free options they offered a delicious "zoodles" option (spiral cut zucchini) but on the next visit I was told that "they are too much trouble, we only have gluten free pasta now (which tasted like nothing). Our last visit was obviously the worst, and when we asked to speak to the manager over a major screwup we were told "the manager is busy, maybe you could send an email"!!! read more
