I think this place has been around for a long time but we've never really gotten around to it until now. Came here for dinner with my mom. We ordered the following: Gamberi Al Martini Penne Arrabbiata Tiramisu Mom wasn't extremely hungry so she just had a prawn appetizer while I ordered the Penne Arrabbiata dish as I was much hungrier than her. My Penne dish was supposed to come with spicy tomato sauce along with capers and black olives. I honestly didn't find the tomato sauce spicy but that actually suited me better as I was more interested in the capers and black olives part of it, than the spicy part of it. I generally prefer my food to be non spicy so I enjoyed this dish. If spicy is what you're looking for though, then I wouldn't recommend this dish. Oh, we got some free bread as restaurants often do; however, instead of butter to go with the bread they gave us some kind of white dip. Looked kinda like Tzatziki but it was definitely not Tzatziki. It was sooooo good! I inquired about it and found out that it was some kind of white bean dip. I was tempted to get some Tiramisu for dessert but was also really full from my pasta dish. Didn't think I could stomach an order of Tiramisu...but then our server suggested that he might be able to bring me a half order of Tiramisu. Oooo, this sounded like a very tempting proposition. It isn't written anywhere on the menu, but it was an ingenius idea. So I agreed to the half order. Great idea. Got to satisfy my Tiramisu craving and ended up extremely full, but not insanely extremely full! Great experience at Bravo Cucina. I was expecting to have a home made pasta, but it was fine. I ordered the Linguine Carbonara pasta and it tasted ok. The sauce was more white sauce than carbonara. But my partner ordered a fish dish and it was really good. Their customer service is fantastic and the outside patio has a nice decor. read more

What a disappointment our second visit turned out to be. I rated them 5* in the summer. Now I would say that it is average at best. The service is still 5* but the food was so disappointing. We shared the curried mussels as an appetizer. This was the special for the evening. The sauce was so lacking in flavour. We could hardly taste the curry and it was more of a broth than a sauce with the mussels. It was almost like it was just water with a very small amount of curry thrown in as an afterthought. Not a good start. It was $22.00 My husband had rack of lamb that he enjoyed on our previous visit. It was cooked perfectly and it was a decent size serving. He substituted pasta for the vegetables. His dish was a winner. I ordered a linguini with shrimp, garlic and olive oil. It is apparently a specialty of the chef who was cooking that evening. It was a huge disappointment. I was expecting to have decent sized and an adequent quantity shrimp. Instead the shrimp were the size of shrimp that you would find in canned shrimp and the amount of shrimp in the dish was minuscule. There was maybe ¼ cup of shrimp and I really had to hunt around to find the shrimp. The pasta also was seriously lacking in flavour. The pasta is overpriced at $28.00. It was such a disappointing experience compared to our dining experience in the summer. read more

This used to be our favourite place before it changed hands. What is happening?! Four people at the table next to us were also disappointed. Carpaccio was drowned in cheese and sauce. They were 'out of clams'..?! Mussels' sauce not flavourful. The drinks were ridiculously small. We've never had to ask for a double cocktail before. The crème brûlée was inedible. We were so excited to have dinner here.......but our hopes were dashed. It was our first time to visit Vancouver and we were staying in North Vancouver and wanted to find a nice Italian restaurant in North Vancouver before we took the SEABUS over to our show at the Orpheum. We looked at a few places and one closed at 3 and the other had posted on their website that they were closed for a staff function. Striking out for an early dinner on a Tuesday night. We saw Bravo and decided we would hit them as soon as they opened so we would have plenty of time to get to catch the ferry and walk to the theatre. We saw on their website that reservations are recommended for Friday and Saturday nights, but we assumed Tuesday at 5:30 would not be a problem. We walked in and stood at the front door for a bit longer than we should have before a waiter came over and welcomed us and we asked if they had room for a party of two. (there was a LARGE party milling about) The waiter said "uh...sorry....we have have a private party tonight". How about putting a sign on the door "Closed for a private party" or update their website. read more

Bravo! Came here to celebrate a special day on 8/13 - really late on doing my review - and Cathy, our waitress, and the gentleman server, were both fantastic! The food was excellent! Did a Yelp search for a great Italian restaurant and Bravo Cucina popped up. With few reviews, I was not expecting a whole lot, but so very glad I listened. Everything from the Italian bread with a garlic spread to the gamberi al martini appetizer to the veal cannelloni were just so yummy. The appetizer consists of four shrimp with capers and a butter sauce - so simple but so sublime. The cannelloni was a special that night, and the pasta, cheese and sauce were perfect. The friend with me ordered spaghetti and said the marinara sauce was really good and loved the fresh parmesan. The berry cheesecake was a mix of blackberries and others, I don't remember what, but it was the right consistency and really good. I kept telling our waitress how great everything was. Cathy was wonderful, too. She welcomed us, asked if we had been to Bravo Cucina before, and went over the menu. She was friendly but didn't overstep any boundaries. She checked on us consistently. The server was also perfect. He joked with us and made us feel at home. They both kept the dishes cleared, wiped the tablecloth of crumbs, and we didn't want for anything. There are about 15 tables in this restaurant and I don't think any of them would be considered a bad seat. It's a smaller restaurant and the dining area is one room. There are a couple poles that stand out because of the building's construction that they turned into coat racks but I give the owners a point for making the best out of the situation. There are some quirky Italian masks on the wall that could go away. The dark wood, white tablecloths, candles and wine racks are all comforting. They also have outdoor tables. There's not a parking lot anywhere nearby that I saw. There is street parking and it appeared free, but it could've been because we were there late in the evening. This was a nice surprise for our family visiting from Las Vegas. It was the end of a VERY long day, and with two picky kids under 17, it was 10 minutes search on google to find it. I called to see if they could make Alfredo sauce for my daughter, it was not on the menu. Good thing our server was also the owner. He special made the kids dishes and was quite entertaining as well. Ends up his mom was the one bringing water and bread, her son had broke his finger and he needed an extra hand. She was extremely friendly, too. We all left full and happy. I was at a work dinner function so the review is based on the set menu we were given. The menu selection had a little bit of everything to appeal to everyone's food preferences. Service was very good. Our server was quick to take our drink and food orders. Food arrived fairly quickly. My poached pear salad was good and there was plenty of blue cheese. I was expecting a half or whole pear and not a cut up pear for presentation purposes. People were raving about the mushroom soup and the soup did look tasty. The pasta tasted fresh. I chose the spaghetti bolognese. It is not the best pasta I have eaten, but it was decent. The sauce tasted like fresh tomatoes which is a good thing. The dessert round was a shared dessert plate. I was not a fan of that for hygienic reason. There was no separate utensils to pick up the dessert and people were digging in with the same spoon they were eating with so I skipped that portion of the meal. Not bad but not worth the price. We had the Pescatore and Curry Shrimp linguine ($20 ea). Portions were good but not very flavourful, very little sauce. We had the house red; surprisingly tasty. Service was exceptional! Truly European standard. The decor was dated and worn out. The center of the room was a post for everyone's jackets on hooks. Seriously in need of a renovation. Been meaning to try this place for a while. The parents took us here for our birthday dinners. It was all of our first time. The restaurant is cute, Italian, early 90's looking. The service was great! The food was very good. I had the 'expo 86', was fettuccini with crab and shrimp in a rose cream. Delicious! This is my newest best restaurant. The food is awesome, the service is tops, the price range is perfect. The ambiance is perfect. We did a drop in and got the last I booked table. That in its self tells a story. The reception was great. The food selection great. Did I mention the service. How often do you get to feel like you are welcome in the restaurant how often are you made to feel like they really want you to be there? Well this is that place. We tried some starters main course and desert all presented very well and oh so delicious. When you go to a restaurant that is always full you know you have found a gem on the north shore. Having seen all the 5 star reviews for this restaurant we had dinner from Bravo last evening. All I can say is that this absolutely could not have been the same chef -- pardon me -- "person". He most certainly could not be categorized a chef. The angel hair pasta was overcooked, the prawns were actually "mushy" -- I threw it in the garbage. My husband's was ok until he put more parm on it and because "cheap" parm is so salty it ruined that. So all in all a terrible experience never to be repeated. read more

I had heard wonderful things about this restaurant and was very much looking forward to giving it a shot. I love Italian food and recently relocated to the North Shore, so was stoked to find a good spot close to home. However, when I called to confirm my reservation for New Years Eve (that I made approx. a month and a half ago) the gentleman on the other end was shockingly rude. He couldn't find my reso on his list and insisted I didn't have one, when I insisted that I did and asked him to check again he sounded super annoyed. He eventually found my reso and told me that I need to inform him properly of the name if I want information becasue he has a list of 60 people in front of him. Ok, whatever man. So we ate here last night and it was disappointing for sure. Our server was super friendly and tentative, which is great, but when we sat down we were told that they were only serving a special set menu and nothing on the regular menu was available. Our server apologized that we weren't informed when I made the reso, but honestly I wasn't impressed with the options, nothing seemed very Italian. My starter and main weren't anything special, lobster linguine was rubbery and over cooked. My boyfriends were delicious though. Unfortunately there was a hair in his soup (yuck). All in all for $230 including wine and tip it wasn't worth it and we're in no rush to go back. read more

Came here for a dinner Dine Out Vancouver. Meal [arctic char] was really good. Pistachio gelato was genuine as well. Swevers are very polite and professional, food is portioned well and the food chioces and flavours can be taylored to your taste or diet. We have eaten here a number of times and have enjoyed the food and service. Tonight we arrived without reservations- got a table quickly but waited for 10 minutes until we were given water and offered a drink order. I ordered the veal cannelloni and found it dry, salty, and without enough sauce. I told the waiter since I had only had three bites, but he didn't seem fazed and said the only complaint is usually about the sauce. No offer to fix or to take it off the bill. We paid -$105.00 without tip - we still tipped - but will not go back. So disappointed. read more

Amazing service every time we go - always able to offer amazing wine pairings and great cocktails and after dinner drinks. Cathy was exceptional tonight and the food!!!... Try any of the specials - luckily each time I have gone they have had a veal cannelloni - don't hesitate get this!!! Tonight the crab and shrimp Expi 86 and a delicious Caesar was the complement to the veal cannelloni! Finish with any of the exceptional deserts - the coffee creme brûlée was perfect! First time at this restaurant and WOW, Blown away. I love Italian food, and have had it all over Canada! The food was simply delicious, simple, tasty and flavorful....in other words, Italian! Everything we ordered was just delicious! The waiter was even kind enough to split our appetizer between two plates without asking. The restaurant was full but the service did not suffer...we had drinks, appetizers, mains and dessert all within an hour and a half. I cannot stop raving about the food though, we ate EVERY BITE. Absolutely love this restaurant. Every time I go I order the seafood risotto, it's to die for. The portion sizes are good and food is always very flavorful. Last time I visited they had a halibut on special, 2 of the people I was dining with ordered it and said it was absolutely divine. I had a small bite and I've never had such perfectly cooked fish in my life. The restaurant is quaint and quite small but the staff is attentive and nice. Complimentary bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar are served upon seating and are a perfect way to begin a meal. Heard great reviews some friends which is why we dined there in the first place. Usually not very busy so a great place for an intimate dinner. Have and will be back again. read more
