All I can say is thank God, thank God that he directed me to Bur Cal Termite and Pest Control. Vince and his co-workers are phenomenal people. That do incredible work. I live with my mom in an old home built in 1934. I've lived in this house my whole life. We had a terrible rodent infestation,. I'd perpetuated this situation for several years by feeding birds,squirrels, stray cats, possums , etc. I kept ignoring the problem because I didn't want to kill anything. I dreaded having to do this. But I know that there are health risks involved with situations like ours. I could no longer expose my mother to potential future health issues. Vince performed a free thorough inspection. He pinpointed and identified all the areas the rodents were getting into the house. He patiently explained to me what needed to be done. Once we formed a plan of action, I stressed to Vince that I did not want these rodents to suffer. That I wanted it to be a quick humane death. Absolutely no poison. I can't even begin to tell you all the areas that Vince repaired and sealed. It was a lot! He set traps in our two attics, the crawl spaces and under the house. He had two custom-made screens to replace the nonexistence ones that we had under the house. What we had there before was so embarrassing. We had rocks and pieces of wood, trying to cover these huge opening. Vince and his coworkers would come and check the traps every couple of days. I asked Vince not to tell me the specifics. I didn't want to know the body count. The company still came and checked the traps, to make sure there weren't any more rodents in the house. That the traps were empty. I am so beyond relieved that they are gone. Vince offers several years of warranty on the repairs done to the house. I'm not familiar with what the average pricing is for these types of projects. But I believe Vince gave us a good price for the ton of work he did. I've really never had to deal with home issues. In the past, my Dad and older brothers would take care of things. But they are all in Heaven now. My mom is starting to have memory issues. I was scared of the responsibility. Especially since I created the problem. I mention all this because I had prayed to God to guide me and send the right person to help our old home. I know in my heart that God sent us Bur Cal Termite and Pest Control. I've had rats for the past 2 years. I first used a Pest company that temporarily got rid of the rats but since they didn't find the entry point, I continued to have rats. I was determined to get rid of my problem so I hired a company focused only on rats. Still continued to have rats. Worse, they dropped poison in my crawlspace so now I had a dead rat smelling up my whole downstairs area. My plumber suggested I call Vince. I was very skeptical since I'd already tried 2 "experts" but was desperate so gave Vince a call. He was the only one to find the root of my problem. It took him half an hour to figure it out. The reason? He was the only one to put in the full effort to look at my ENTIRE crawlspace even though it gets pretty small in some areas. Recently, Fernando went the extra mile to accommodate my buyers when we had a time crunch toward the close of escrow. My wife and I were in the process of buying a home. We wanted to get a termite inspection, and everyone one we spoke with recommended Bur-Cal. Fernando came to our prospective house and did a thorough termite inspection. Thankfully, he did not find any termites. He also explained how termites could come and what we could do to protect ourselves such as watching the moisture from the sprinklers and making sure the wood stays in good condition. I am amazed at the other reviews posted here as I have had a very good experience with Bur-Cal. I found out about them when I had my bathroom demoed because of a leak and termites (subterranean and dry wood) were found. The mold damage repair guy recommended them. Fernando gave me a thorough estimate and pointed out where the damage was (including dry rot/wood fungus) and quoted me a reasonable price. I had them spot treat for the subterranean termites and will do the fumigation at a later date. Fernando is the more reserved brother in the team but knowledgeable and thorough. My highest praise however goes to Vince, the other brother who tackled my rodent infestation problem. Wow, this guy is fabulous, outgoing and service oriented! Not only did he identify some areas around the property where the rodents were coming in but he also made sure to install new screens, patch holes and generally ensure that the mice/rodents couldn't get into the house again. He came out several times to check and reset traps (one more time to go). He also went the extra mile and put patching in the kitchen sink area (which worked beautifully). So far, no more rodent droppings and I am so relieved. Vince tackled this job and was flexible in terms of scheduling, even though it was during the holidays, (for which I am very appreciative). Fernando from Bur Cal did the extermination work on my house right before I bought it a little over a year ago (fyi, it was the seller who chose Bur Cal). Recently I found evidence of termites in one of the bedrooms. I called another termite company out to inspect and after looking at it they suggested that I contact Bur Cal, since they were the ones who had done the extermination previously. After speaking with the lady at the office, who was very nice BTW, I received a call back from Fernando, who had done the original inspection and extermination. After explaining that I had found termites in one of my bedrooms, Fernando's first response was "You're past the expiration of our guarantee by two months." After asking if there was anything he could do considering that he personally had done the original work, he said he could come out and inspect the damage. Long story short, a few days later I receive a quote from Bur Cal for twice the amount that the other termite company quoted me for the same work. I understand that they guarantee their work for 12 months, and that when I had contacted them it had been about 14 months since they were out here. But the fact that Fernando was so dismissive right off the bat, sighting the company policy and reiterating the fact that I was two months past the expiration, did nothing to boost my confidence in his work. You would think that a company whose work is now under question by a past customer would do a little more to explain the situation and try and ease some of their frustration. But no, just a plain email was sent with the ridiculous quote attached. I wasn't expecting free work here. I understand they have their policy and technically they are absolutely correct, I am past the expiration of their guarantee. If it weren't for the dismissive and arrogant attitude of Fernando I probably would not be writing this review right now. But the fact that his first response was to try and blow the whole situation off on a technicality was completely unprofessional and frankly I found it disrespectful as well. If you're using a technicality to avoid your responsibility, then you have no integrity and you don't stand behind your work. If you are looking for a termite company, please avoid Bur Cal at all costs. There are plenty of other termite companies in the valley who will probably treat you much better, such as Handytech, who were extremely friendly, polite, and took the time to talk to me about the type of damage they saw and what they recommended for treatment. But if you want to be treated like an inconvenience, then Bur Cal should be your first call! read more

Bur-Cal was by far the best vendor find for us as first time homeowners new to the area - they were used by a realtor during escrow and we decided to move forward with them after COE. Fernando is exceedingly professional, knowledgeable, and kind; furthermore his team is excellent at what they do along with being friendly - Javier and Cesar are the best. We have used them two years in a row and will continue using them annually for preventative termite inspections / maintenance. We also had an unexpected flea issue in our yards thanks to raccoons and other local wildlife; Fernando was able to connect us with Vince who handles all non-termite inspection work for Bur-Cal. What a joke of a business. I was given the number to a Vince Ortega, called about 10 times. No return calls, nothing. Finally left him a message indicating that maybe he doesn't want new customers and he calls back in about 10 minutes. I tell him my situation which was pretty urgent and he tells me he's going away for the weekend, but to call him after the weekend and he will come the following day. I call, no answer, no call back. Nothing. So here is the following about this business: 1) he does not want or need new customers, 2) he does not answer or return calls and 3) he is unreliable.
