I requested to have the fillings done first, but they advised me to wait for insurance approval for the crowns before proceeding with any work. After waiting for a month without any updates, I called their office to check the status. A staff member informed me that the insurance company had denied the crowns and that they had not received authorization for the fillings either. Wanting clarity, I contacted my insurance provider directly. They confirmed that the dental office never submitted a request for fillings--because fillings were already covered and did not require pre-authorization. Furthermore, the request for crowns had been denied due to insufficient evidence supporting the need for them. When I called the dental office back to relay this information, the same staff member suddenly changed her response, claiming she had just submitted the filling request--despite it being unnecessary. This raised concerns about transparency and efficiency in handling patient care. Unfortunately, after two months of waiting, my tooth pain worsened, yet the office seemed more focused on financial aspects rather than addressing my immediate dental needs. If you are considering this practice, I recommend proceeding with caution. Be especially mindful of upselling tactics related to deep cleanings and crowns. I made the below review with 2 stars on google, and they responded by canceling me as a patient *eyeroll*. I probably would have removed or amended the review if someone could just give me an explaination. I didn't even think it was that bad of a review, I said they did a fine job. But they did this instead ************************************************************** I've been here before, the people in the office are pretty nice and they do a fine job. But when I got new dental insurance, the insurance signed me up with the wrong doctor (it was an HMO plan). I fixed it the day before my appointment, but it was going to take 24 hours to show up in the system online. The office said they couldn't call insurance on the appt day to process. That's fine I get it, so I ask to reschedule to the next week, and they said no, I had to wait a month because it was an insurance thing? That makes no sense, it was a small correction and the insurance would be in the system correctly after 24 hours. If they were willing to call the insurance it would have gone through the same day as the original appointment. Why should I have to wait a whole additional month for a dental appointment I already am a month late for for some "policy" that no one in your office can even explain the reason for. It wasn't the insurance making that policy, it was the dentist and it's a stupid policy if no one can explain the reason or use judgment about when it should apply. I never worked in a dental office, but I used to be a pharmacy tech and if there was a pharmacy policy causing an issue, I would explain or refer to the pharmacist who would explain. If it was an insurance issue, I would tell them who to call with questions and give them specific language to help when asking. I'm trying not to be super annoyed by this because my interactions with them have otherwise been fine but it's just so dumb. I would legit consider just making an appointment with another dentist sooner, but I struggle a lot with keeping up with regular adult things like making and remembering appointments (which is why this is so irritating!!) so it would probably take me just as long to find a new dentist and get everything set up. read more

I was going to write up a superbly honest and awful review for this place but it seems that TONS of people before me have said everything I was going to say, and more. This place is a rip off. I went in for some fillings, I had to argue with them just to get my xrays to be forwarded to my other dentist after I moved. First they were going to charge me 50$ for my xrays, they never offered to email them or even fax them, I had to get them myself. I lied to them and said "oh I paid already for the xrays" and they didn't even check, she just said OH OK ITS FREE THEN, so I knew they were trying to nickle and dime me right there.. Anyway I went in for some fillings and they made simple fillings feel like complete root canals for how much pressure and force they were putting on my teeth. A filling should never feel like a root canal, alright? I'm just saying.. Also on top of that, they never numbed me enough for anything, they insisted it was in my head until I started to scream upon them putting the drill into my tooth and I felt it. Even tho this happened about a year ago, I feel the pain in my teeth just remembering how that drill felt... *shudders*. Don't go here.. please. Oh yea, and also while I was there they insisted that I tried "invisiline", which implies they weren't happy with how unstraightened my teeth were. They can just screw off with that, I never asked for their opinion, my smile is just fine, thank you. read more

We have gone to this dentist's office for my son several times, but we will not be back. When we arrived for his regular 6-month check up, I asked what service he was receiving - meaning just a cleaning, or x-rays as well. The hygenist replied "fillings." I had to tell her several times that wasn't correct. They finally realized it was a mistake in his file, and proceeded to polish his teeth. I went to the front desk to schedule his next appointment, and the receptionist told me "they only did a polishing? You'll have to come back for a cleaning." I eventually was able to figure out that for kids, the polishing IS the cleaning. But the receptionist in an office that regularly treats children didn't know that? And when I got frustrated because 3 different office staff were acting as if I was supposed to already know all of this, and because all 3 staff members were giving me different information, they acted like the entire episode was my fault. I called the office two days later, to speak with the office manager about how I was treated. Surprise! She was one of the 3 staff members who was rude to me & blamed me for their incompetence. She talked over me & refused to admit anyone in the office did anything wrong. When I asked her to stop talking over me she literally said "I allowed you to speak." I was recommended by a friend to see dr Armen for an abscess and infection that reached my sinuses due to the previous dentist not seeing the problem at several occasions. Armen recognized the issue after running few X-rays and took care of performing a painless root canal spread over few days and also performed draining of the abscess at the clinic. The procedure was really painless and the team there was really patient with me during the entire process. Not sure about the negative review down there calling them crooks. It might be the other clinic in Burbank on 500 E Olive Avenue which has the same name but they're both unrelated to another. The other clinic is really bad based on reviews. read more

I want to update my review. Some people find it funny but it wouldn't be funny to you if you were out of a job with no insurance and all you could think is that I have to come up with 9,000. I was given no options with no sympathy. Well they told me to apply for care credit. That's how I paid the 1,600. Because no one talked to me I though I had to have all 9 root canals done quickly or I was going to lose those 9 teeth. Last year I had 2 root canals and I paid cash. I might need one more. The point of this funny story is that our smile is important to all of us and if your feeling down with not much money and told you need that 9,000 worth of work and you don't have the funds it can be scary. That amount is not so scary to now that I have money. He just had bad bed side manner. Dr. Armen is great. I knocked my teeth out as a teenager, now 53 years old, and have had most every dental procedure there is to get over the years from multiple dentists. Dr. Armen is fair and honest and knowledgeable, takes time to explain options, super competent and an all around nice guy. His prices, (did I mention how much work I've had done?) are totally reasonable if not slightly less expensive and the location is super convenient next door to the Trader Joes on the cusp of Burbank and Glendale. He takes HMO dental plans so the man is obviously not in it for the money! I'm sorry for the lady below, but I'm sure the Dr. was referring to tooth 9, not saying she needed 9 root canals and that is a totally standard price for a root canal. Sounds like there was a good deal of extreme dental fear coloring that review. Lastly we are a same sex married couple and get treated with the utmost respect. Not that I feel anyone should get a medal for doing what is natural and right, but I know sometimes other people are frightened of their treatment at medical providers and there is no need to worry about discrimination at this practice. Everyone here is so professional and friendly. I feel very welcome every time I visit their clinic. The dental hygienist Sema is really good at what she does. I came in for teeth cleaning and she cleaned my teeth really good. No cavities were left. I've been to many dental clinics before for cleaning but none of them cleaned it well. I felt like they were just brushing my teeth for me but Sema was very precised. She made sure that every single tooth was clean. I also like Helen, the dental hygienist, she makes sure that I am comfortable at every procedure. She is such a sweet lady. She is very gentle too. This is only 1 star because I CANNOT GIVE ANYTHING LOWER! This dentist charges for procedures that haven't been done. He tries to play the insurance game by charging your insurance company more than the actual procedure that was done. I recommend that you keep an eye on your insurance charges to make sure he is not scamming them out of your money! Lets say your insurance covers $2,000 worth of procedures a year, he will take a $100 procedure, and make it into a $1,000 procedure when it comes to billing your insurance WITHOUT YOU KNOWING!!! So you are left with less coverage for the rest of the year, and chances are... you will not even notice, because you don't go to the dentist as often as you should. HEED MY WARNING!!! This office is out to get as much money as they can get by falsifying documentation into looking like you are getting a certain expensive procedure, when you really aren't. Stay away from them at all cost! They will see me in court over FAKE charges to my insurance company! I am also reporting them to the American Dental Association. read more

I moved away for a long time so I lost touch with this office, I've been back for a year and it is still great. Friendly, fast and always great. This may possibly be the worst dental office in the entire world. I left my appointment in TEARS. I went in for a normal check-up, and was told that I needed totally unnecessary plastic surgery among other awful things. This is what happened: I decided to try a new dentist, and I found this place through my insurance. The first thing they did was x-ray my teeth. This probably took at least an hour to do. At my old dentist, x-rays took about 5 minutes tops. It took a while because they were using some fancy machine that immediately showed the x-rays on a computer screen. But for some reason, they kept sending in 2 different nurses to do this. One nurse would come in, let's call her Good Nurse, and be very gentle. Then she would inexplicably leave and Bad Nurse would come in-- Bad Nurse had obviously never heard of a gag reflex before, and would shove the x-ray things into my mouth in such a way that it made me GAG and it HURT. Then I was left alone in the room for 30 minutes! I had no idea what was going on, nobody told me anything. Eventually I realized they had all gone on their lunch break and must have forgotten about me. Eventually I saw the Dr. She was nice, but then she left and this other nurse came in. This guy came in to take photos of my teeth asked me to smile. He then went on to tell me that I needed plastic surgery because my gums showed too much when I smile. What a jerk. I was 20 years old when this happened, so I guess they like to pray on insecure young women. It was at this point that I had been in the room for at least an hour and a half, only to be told that I needed plastic surgery to make my smile "prettier"? I started crying and ran out of the room. I loved going here until Dr. Armen said I needed my wisdom teeth removed. I'd read other reviews about him being out for insurance money but didn't really see it until this. He said they were relatively grown out so we could do it in-house with local anesthesia, and we would do two at a time. I have a strong suspicion that he did this so he would be paid for the removal, rather than the facility I would have gone to had I been out under. When he began removing the first one, it turned out to be much deeper down than he said, and it was very painful to have removed while I was awake. We ended up only doing one that day, and I had to come back and have the second one done (which was also very long and painful). After going through this twice, I avoided coming in to have the other teeth done. I was never afraid of dentists before, but now I am. I eventually moved and saw a new dentist who, after looking at my X-rays, said that my teeth were in fact NOT impacted and did not need to be removed like Dr. Armen said they were. This place has ruined my trust in dentists, and I would not recommend coming here. read more

I usually don't write reviews as I don't have time to do so, however I really appreciate reading reviews on Yelp before going to certain businesses, namely restaurants... I was very surprised to read such horrible reviews by the last two users when I stumbled upon Dr. Armen's dental group. It doesn't seem to me a coincidence that both reviews are written on the same date, which suggests that the reviewer is just trying to ruin Dr A's reputation. Thus being a patient of Dr. A for about 4yrs and appreciating having a solid, trustworthy dentist in my life, I felt the need to inform other yelpers about my experience w/ this office. Starting from the lady in the office, she's courteous and ensures that I don't sit in the waiting room for more than a 3 min of my appt time. Dr. A. is polite, meticulous and down to earth type of a character. Less than a month ago he did a major work on one of my tooth, root canal followed by a crown, and I really appreciate how patient, & caring he was during the procedure, resulting in a tooth that does not hurt anymore and looks great. Unlike the previous reviewer's claim, I had no overcharges when I followed up w/ my insurance after reading their reviews. He is also very flexible and considerate when it comes to your time. I looked into getting invisalign a few years back and went to a few dentists and they all said it would be a really hard case and i should consider regular braces instead of invisalign. I thought it was hopeless until i was recommend by a coworker to check out the dental group. I made an appointment and Dr Armen said it would be difficult, but it can be done. I was extremely happy with the results. I've now been going to Dr Armen for the past 6 years now. The staff is great and always very helpful, i would highly recommend them. read more

SCAM ARTISTS. No seriously, believe the reviews. I saw a dentist 6 months prior to coming to the "group." The problem with it being a "group" is that they can refer you out (or more like in) to all of the specialists that work in their office. They seriously referred me out to 3 specialists and also told me that I had 4 cavities and needed a "deep cleaning." Wouldn't even perform a regular cleaning on me and also come to find out...most insurance companies won't cover a "deep cleaning" so they wanted me to pay for everything out of pocket. Almost $5,000. My first instinct was RUN. They are trying to steal your money. So I did. They called me everyday for a couple of weeks and I told them that I was interested in their services. Still called about once a week for a while. I instead, got a 2nd opinion from a highly rated dentist in West Hollywood. The performed the regular cleaning on me and said there was absolutely no need to do a deep cleaning. They also took full x-rays which proved that there were ZERO cavities!! Burbank/Glendale also wanted me to see a specialist in their office for another problem that she saw....My 2nd opinion dentist, found this to be no problem at all. Have to wonder if Dr is on the up & up. Had a crown done but it wasn't covered by my insurance. Although $600 was a great price, I was only offered the discount if I paid cash. When I tried to give receptionist my Debit Card I was told cash only. Funny thing, after I handed her the money I was just standing there waiting and she asked if I needed something else.
