OMG! Steve the owner was so knowledgeable and efficient! My friend and I both had older cars that needed A/C service, so we tackled the 15 minute drive (sans A/C) convoyed into his shop. UPDATE: So now it's 2020, and my '68 Cadillac Coupe deVille has not overheated at all since Steve rebuilt the radiator back in 2016! This is one cool running Caddy! And still not a single leak! So now, in the middle of this coronavirus "stay at home" orders, I'm turning my attention to getting a couple of other things fixed on my Caddy. Like the A/C REALLY needs to be checked out. You're a fool if you go here. Let me explain. At the time of writing this I saw only one 1 star review. I dismissed it because of the other good reviews, that was a mistake. I brought my work van in one afternoon and spoke with Steve (the owner and only worker there) about repairing the air conditioning. He saw my van, said bring it back at 8:00am next day and he would inspect it for $65. I agreed, and was waiting outside as he opened his door at 8:00 the next day. I greeted him good morning, and the first thing he says is: "Listen, vans are a pain in the ass to work on, I don't like working on them anyways so now it's $90 and that's just the way it is". Worse, he was upset with me (?!). Suddenly realizing what & whom I was dealing with that feeling of untrustworthiness washed over me. It wasn't the money but knowing that if I left my vehicle with this bi-polar man I would be in for more surprises. Floored, my curiosity wanted to know more. So I let him finish and I stated that not only did we discuss the type of vehicle the day before, but that he was looking straight at it at the time. It wasn't like I just showed up out of nowhere. I also asked how I was supposed to trust him now if someone behaved like he was. He just said "I don't care". I countered with the fact that he's been in business for a long time and that if he felt this way about van's how on earth did he forget about this? (btw- the guy that recommended me to Steve has the exact same van that he said Steve has worked on). Steve just looked confused, and shook his head trying to talk but with nothing coming out. I then told him that I had to cancel my day to give up my only transportation, arrange a ride back while he had my vehicle and before I could finish he rolls his eyes and says "Oh! Here we go!" as if this wasn't the first time he's heard this from customers. Listen carefully to me folks, I also do repair for a living, there is something very off about this guy, very non comital, very untrustworthy. Don't believe me? Good. Before Yelp was on the Internet there was "word of mouth". I have been referring my customers, friends and family members to Steve at Burbank Radiator since 1998. It all started when I was driving my 1972 (Mod Squad Yellow) Mustang and the Air-conditioning just decided to stop working in the middle of a very hot summer. I took the car to 3-4 places around the Burbank area. They all said the same thing. "You need a new compressor" The estimates for repair were between a minimum of 750 to 1,100 dollars. Then I took the car to Steve. After spending a few minutes with the car he discovered what other mechanics could not or did not find. It was a simple pin hole leak in one of the hoses. Steve's charge? It was under 70 dollars! He replaced the hose, filled her back up, the A/C worked amazingly well and he saved me hundreds of dollars. In January of 2018, the radiator in my the radiator in my 1973 MGB-GT failed at the top seam. I researched both copper and aluminum replacements and talked to Steve, who recommended a heavy-duty core (which looks just like the OEM one) and my original tanks. Fast-forward to 3 weeks ago (Late July, 2019) when I lost my primary vehicle to an accident. I could have rented a car but decided to use my MG to commute to work, about 26 miles from Encino to Santa Clarita. The afternoon temperature over the last 3 weeks has ranged from 90-102F and the car has not missed a beat! The gauge reads at "N" (~180F) or less for the entire commute, regardless of traffic or climbing the hill, and the engine runs perfectly. Prior to installing Steve's radiator, It would read over half way from "N" to "H" and the engine would run poorly at low speed. I was flushing the cooling system on my Italian motorcycle when the drain Bolt of my radiator came out with all the threads attached. This left me with a large hole in the bottom of one of the tanks. Went a year without A/C and with summer starting again, it was time to bite the bullet. I initially got a quote from Steve and was not charged. I tried another shop looking for a quote knowing the issue since Steve already told me. That cost me $70 and in total was $200 more than what Steve had quoted me. I finally got my car back over to Burbank Radiator. It took a few tries with a wiring issue. Not Steve's fault, but he fixed it, and fixed it again.
