Overall my experiences here have been average. I looooove the girls at the front desk. Very nice and friendly when I call and come in. They always seem to help as much as possible. However, the office feels a little disorganized and overbooked in my opinion. I have nothing great or awful to say about the doctor except that things can get pricey very quickly. AMAZING, THE BEST DOCTOR AND STAFF!!! This has to be the best vet i have ever been to, all i can say is you have to meet Dr. Burpee, she goes above and beyond to explain to you exactly what she thinks is the problem and how to fix it and she does fix the problem perfectly. Dr Burpee's husband, (jason) and Denise up front are so wonderful and honest as well. My dog started vomiting and not eating for a week, went to vetco in Burbank big mistake, an older man doctor did not even want to do x rays because he was a little agressive, then tried bestfriends animal hospital, then emergency then to top it off a house call vet made the problem worse, giving an antiinflammatory shot which dr burpee said made worse prolonging it thinking he could pass it, and if i would have kept listening to him, my dog would have died the next day i was told his white blood cell count was so high. Finally came across reviews, thankfully got an appointment did surgery that day got obstruction out a squeaker from a dog toy. Thank you so much again Dr. Burpee!!!! :) read more

My dog expels anal glands from his nerves when at other vets. But this place was nothing like what we've experienced. He was a little nervous but actually calm the whole time! DR BURPEE is attentive, personable and highly skilled. Dogs can sense the true character of people's energy and intentions and my dog was finally at ease in this vet setting. Not only the girls in front are so pleasant but everyone there in back too. That's the key. The BACK OFFICE ANIMAL HANDLERS ARE LOVING, CARING, SENSITIVE TO INDIVIDUAL ANIMAL NEEDS/PERSONALITIES. Unlike 'pet clinics' it's not a revolving door of staff. This place is a family. (After doing my homework) I found that privately owned vets are the way to go. Not the groups or clinics because it's a hit or miss with the (BACK STAFF ASSISTANTS) meaning, sure the doctors are nice BUT they have assistants that are not on a great pay-level who trim nails, glands, shots etc which can be traumatizing if not done with sensitive care and attention. Privately owned VETS (like Dr Burpee) have their own employees who are there for the long-haul and it's a difference worth paying for.We all know, you get what you pay for. Our animals rely on us to be aware and do the homework it takes and listen to your instincts. Pay attention to what goes on in the back and make sure you honor your animal's needs both emotionally and physically. :) read more

OK where do i start? This is hands down the best vet experience i have EVER had! Dr. Burpee and her Husband Jason are exemplary of how a professional business should be run. The Dr is patient,informative,clearly well educated and LOVES animals. You will receive an estimate of services,however in my case ,anyways,it was explained to me that although my furry friend Gigi would need extractions that no matter if it were more then originally anticipated there would be a set cap dollar amount charged and if less work needed to be done would be adjusted down. We had several follow ups,during which it was necessary to again put her under to make some final finishing touches to Gigi's mouth,NO CHARGE!! part of the original quote,how many vets would have done that?I am thinking ZERO! Jason is her husband ,and office manager,he basically keeps it all running smoothly and it shows.The place is immaculate,state of the art and very comforting to furry and human alike :)The reception staff is also very friendly and service oriented. Here is an example of service,i walked in yesterday needed something for Gigi and was told was out of stock but would be delivered to my house the next day when it arrived,WOW! Pinch me am i dreaming?...OUTSTANDING! This place sets the standard for excellence in all areas. My little Gigi is now 15 teeth lighter and happy as a clam....note to Dr.Burpee she is BEGGING for milk bones lol. Everyone here is so nice. They took excellent care of my puppy during her spay procedure. Very personal and loving atmosphere where they clearly put the animals first. Dr. Burpee called to follow up and make sure all was well. The clinic is clean, bright, with street and back parking. I wanted the best care for my dog not lowest price. I don't know why this place reviews so highly. Our visit was very confusing. I did not get clear answers to my questions, and did not feel I would trust this vet if our pet had a more serious condition. She seemed distracted, and had an inappropriate demeanor; she was swanning around the clinic as if she were on stage. She was highly unprofessional in attitude. Not the capable, clinical, professional I am seeking. Plus, they charged extra for something I did not ask for, and I cannot emphasize how unclear the diagnosis and treatment were. I am very thankful I decided to go to this vet center than the other ones I saw that had more reviews but not 5 stars. This place exceeded above and beyond any vet center I have ever taken my pets too. From the moment I called to make an apt they were so helpful. Dr. B is very knowledgeable and took amazing care of my "pain in the butt" cat who hates going to the vet and my new 7 week old puppy. I learned a lot about my cat in regards to his past 2 health issues that the other vets didn't explain to me. If the vet I use to go to would have informed me of the things Dr. B did then he would have never been sick and I would have save thousands of dollars. I'm so excited to have them as our new vet. This place is very clean and has two entrances, one for cats and one for dogs (very unique!). They are affordable, knowledgable, friendly and helpful. I am already recommending this place to all my friends who have pets. I also love that they provided me an emergency number in case anything were to happen after hours and I needed them. I only write reviews unless a place completely exceeds my expectations or is utterly terrible.... This place by far blew my expectations away. I'd give it 10 stars if I could! Dr Burpee spent a great deal of time with us on our first visit. She was very thorough and explained both her findings and recommendations in depth. First let me start out by saying CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!!!! this place is nice and clean and smells good. The staff is extremly nice and friendly. The Docotor is very sweet and seems to care about your pet, she worked with me and recommended what was needed and I didnt feel like it was to much like other places that want to do things that seem wierd. They are very personal and her staff is smart she has the nurse that comes in and talks to you and can probably answer your questions just as well as the Doctor. She was very good with my scared baby and he took a treat from her and he never takes treats from people. They are reasonable in price and they actually care and you can tell. Dr. B and Burbank Veterinary Center I can't say enough good things about. If you want big box, go somewhere else. If you want quality and approachability, this is your place. Its clear they put pets first. I come to Burbank just to see this outstanding Vet. - Dr. B is a wonder. The hospital is clean and the way it should be. Very professional but down to earth. The business manager is an extremely hard working no nonsense type of guy. A straight shooter. He really goes the extra mile and it shows. What a good combination Dr B and Mr. B. Whenever my pets are in need I know these guys are just a phone call away - and after hours too. Who else gives out their cell phone to customers? Their surgery suite and emergency staff on hand is simply amazing. You get the small town feel but the real deal when it comes to care and you can tell Dr B goes above and beyond to make sure my old trusty hounds :) are comfortable and no fuss. Dr. Burpee and the staff at Burbank Veterinary Center are excellent. Dr. Burpee is a wonderful vet and all three of my dogs adore her. She is thorough and explains everything to you in great detail. If there are different treatment options available, she goes over the risks and rewards of each and does not pressure you into making expensive decisions. In fact, when I couldn't afford the major dental surgeries my two small dogs required, she agreed to do it for a set price instead of a range. She really cares about her patients. She and her staff continuously update you while your pet is in their care and they are very in tune with them. While I think her prices are pretty in tune with other options available, I will not cut corners again. I once took my dog to a shot clinic that had pretty cheap prices. Long story short, my dog ended up with a terrible allergic reaction and I rushed her to Dr. Burpee who stayed open late for us and was waiting to rush my pup back and treat her. She saved her life. My first visit I didn't have an appointment but they were able to fit me in. All off the staff was wonderful, they made my cat feel calm in a stressful situation. Dr. Burpee is so nice and obviously loves all animals! What I liked most about her was that she wasn't trying to sell us every unnecessary product. She only did what was needed and answered all of my questions. She has such a natural way of putting me at ease about my puppy! He's not my first puppy, but he is my first small breed puppy and little did I know, they are so different from each other! Dr. B. gave me a lot of tips and tricks to potty train my puppy and teach him simple commands, as well as how to get through the rough teething stage! Simba loves his Vet (surprisingly) and the staff there is great too. They also send post card reminders that always make me laugh a little because they are addressed to the puppy and say "please ask Anna to make your next appointment." Not sure why I find it so funny but it's the cutest thing ever! Oh, and they also have these delicious smelling puppy sprays to make your puppy smell soooo good in between washes. I got the sugar cookie one and I seriously can't stop smelling Simba. Love this Vet office and will definitely enjoy continuing to bring Simba here. :) read more

Yesterday, was my first visit to the Burbank Veterinary Center. I was very impressed with how friendly the front office staff is, the office is immaculate and Dr. Burpee was easy to be with. She spent over 45 minutes with me listening to my issues and spent time in discussing options. She made recommendations and said she wants to follow-up to make sure the recommendations are working. Also, she knew how to handle this cat and took her time with him. She gave a complimentary nail trim. I also liked the fact there are separate rooms for dogs and for cats. I was extremely pleased with the visit. I would definitely recommend this place and will be taking my cat back when needed. read more

Wow, Burbank Veterinary Center is truly an outstanding veterinary hospital. I've been coming here since they opened and I can honestly say their service and attention to my pets has been top notch. Every time I've come in everything is explained and very straight forward from estimates to discharge. I wouldn't trust my pets anywhere else and I drive all the way down from Acton! It's frustrating to see negative reviews that are without basis or obvious ploys to get discounts or preferential treatment. Should these people really own animals? Dr. B and her husband are always courteous and go above and beyond, not to mention are extremely down to earth. The sacrifices they've made in their own lives to bring a high quality veterinary hospital to the area and wow, the services they offer - and they come in on weekends and in their off hours to see my pets. I haven't seen any other veterinarian do that lately. But above all the level of medical knowledge that Dr B has and her surgical skill are bar none. I've had specialty surgeries done here at a fraction of what I've been quoted elsewhere. Dr B gets it and its so reassuring to have a Vet like her in the area. 5 stars..... !!! read more

I have definitely found a new vet. After taking our Morkie to Blue Cross Pet Hospital for the past 2 years for the same issue, and getting the same treatment with no real answer, we decided to go elsewhere. I found this place on Yelp. The receptionists are friendly, competent and helpful. The clinic is very clean. Dr. Burpee is amazing. Chase is very temperamental. He usually has to have a muzzle placed on him when he goes to the vet because he tends to growl and snap at the vet techs/vet. He didn't do this to either. He was like putty in Dr. Burpee's hands. She had this strange calming effect on him. He would look at me for reassurance, but didn't growl or try to bite her. I was extremely impressed with the amount of time she spent with me. She was very thorough. Most vets are in and out in five minutes. Basically our dog has allergies and chronic ear infections. She went over the different options on how we can determine what is causing the allergies. I like that she went over the pricing and didn't make me feel pressured to make an immediate decision like some vets do. She told me to go home and think about it. She sent us home with completely different medication and a diet program. I have complete confidence that we will finally get Chase's issues under control. We have two other dogs and are going to have their records transfered here. I highly recommend this vet. read more

Dr. Burpee saved my dog Mason's life. Mason had symptoms of uncontrollable diarrhea, vomiting, and he was incredibly lethargic. We monitored him for 24 hours but there was no improvement so we decided to take him to the emergency vet since it was late at night and the weekend. We took him to an emergency vet at Studio City and they showed no compassion for our precious pet and had no idea what was wrong with him. They wanted all payment upfront otherwise they wouldn't treat him. Moreover, they didn't find out what was wrong with him. Afterwards, THANKFULLY we took Mason to Dr. Burpee and immediately she started the process of finding out what was wrong with him and treating him. He was at Dr. Burpee's for a week and each day he was improving. After a week of being on treatment and on IVs, he was back to himself again! Mason is a huge part of our family and Dr. Burpee spent so much time taking care of him and nursing him back to health. We are so grateful for Dr. Burpee. She is truly an ANGEL. read more

My seven year old noticed a bump on our dog, while waiting for her school bus, I looked closer and it was a tick..I brought my dog with me to work, hoping I could find a vet to take him to immediately. Since my old vet., didn't think highly of my rescue mutt..I vowed never to go back to him. I started calling friends and looking on yelp..! I got a referral from a friend that has a "working" dog and they looked good on yelp..sold! Had my old vet fax over the info on my one visit to him and I was set. Well, I am here to tell you, this place is awesome. I have had dogs all my life, parents raised & bred AKC Cocker Spaniels etc...I learned a lot from the Dr. She told me for "next time" how to take the tick our correctly (smear Vaseline all over the back of it, suffocates it) and then proceeded to check out my dog. You would have never guessed this was my first visit, it was like dealing with an old friend. Very knowledgeable, very friendly, great advise and after leaving him for a bath, lab tests, tooth paste, flee & tick med 1yr supply, nails, glans, all his shots updated and a few other things..me and my dog were happy campers, once again!! I have a 17+ year old cat who was failing and I felt that his previous vet was not commited to his recovery. I tried Dr. Burpee based on her reviews and I couldn't be happier. She provides excellent invidulized service, meets with you to discuss the animal's condition and treatment options. Options is something I did not get from my previous vet. She was very gentle and caring with my cat and he seemed to recognize that. My cat is now improving (kidney disease), he's more active and putting on weight. I won't go so far as to say that Dr. Burpee cured him but she did add time and quality to his life which is what I wanted. The staff at the clinic is also very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the clinic and Dr. Burpee if you want good care for your pet and consideration for your feelings and input. read more

I love Dr. Burpee and all of the staff there, they all know all four of our dogs and are great with them. Dr. Burpee is spot on with her diagnosis and knows every treatment well. When I first got my Boston he was a mess, another vet was telling me it could be heart problems and we need xrays and such but then someone told me about Dr. Burpee and so I came in and she informed me it was food allergies and we started treating the issue. He also has arthritis and she started him on adaquin, and we'll as 2 of our other dogs, and now I have a happy and healthy boy! Another one of my dogs has had her anal glands removed and a cancer mass removed by Dr. Burpee. I truly am so greatful for her and all the staff there! I love them, love them, love them! My first complaint is that Dr. Burpee didn't seem to believe me when I say the pet is healthy in all other areas and wanted to run all these tests so it was close to a grand for them to tell me what I already knew was wrong with my pet in the first place in order to rule other things out. I didn't want to rule other things out and break my bank of a thousand dollars (on an animal!). My other HUGE complaint is one of the front office staff person named Cassinia talks extremely fast and rushes and does not take the time to effectively listen and help with what you need. After an appointment, I never received any information on the medicine I needed to get for my pet. I called and she told me to go online to get it. Dr. Burpee did say it was cheaper to buy online, but didn't tell me what to get. When I called the front desk, Cassinia said the name of the medicine so fast I did not understand her. Then she spelled it really fast and puts me on a quick hold. I went online and tried to source it myself to much avail. I e-mailed once a week for about 6 weeks to get the name of it written down so I could see it and know exactly what to buy, but never got any response. It's hard for me to talk during the week and my work starts before their office hours and ends after they are already closed. I called and left a voicemail and no one ever returned my call. I called back on another occasion and asked to talk to Dr. Burpee and a different woman at the front asked me to call back in a few hours. I don't understand why they don't return calls or respond to e-mails. I called back again and asked Cassinia to e-mail me the link to buy the medicine and she said if I couldn't find it online then they must be out. (How the f*ck does that front desk woman know if an "online" website is out of stock! Is she freaking psychic?) I said very firmly I do not even know what I am looking for as you never sent me any information whatsoever. I was livid at this point bc they have sent me on a wild goose chase. Why is so hard to tell someone what exactly to buy and where exactly to buy it? I told her you never e-mailed me back or returned my call. Then Cassinia says I probably got the e-mail address wrong. No ma'am, I responded to an e-mail the office sent me and I said I e-mailed about 6 times and not once did I get a response. When I called back again, I started asking to talk to the vet bc that seemed to make her take me seriously and the Dr. Burpee did call back and tell me on voicemail telling me what to buy. I called back again and FINALLY Cassinia spelled out the medication name slowly so a non-medical profession human could understand (but she was only helpful AFTER Dr. Burpee left me a voicemail returning my call to tell me what to buy!). I feel Cassinia was being rude and inconsiderate by talking extremely fast to me and quickly trying to get me for the phone. I believe she was deliberately not helping me. No human can understand anyone who talks a mile a minute. When I went online and actually found the medicine, it required a god damn prescription! I had to call back yet again and then Cassinia said Oh just give them our information. I said No, I want the prescription that specifically states the medicine and dosage. I am wondering why the hell Dr. Burpee or the front office didn't write or give me the prescription three months ago at the time of my visit!?!? As NOW my pet has been getting progressively worse and worse since that office visit was months ago while I was on a wild f*cking goose chase with the front staff to get an answer to my question out of them! My pet will probably die by the time I get the prescription mailed to me from the "online" vendor who Cassinia thought was out of stock. I think Dr. Burpee is very kind, patient, sincere veterinarian, but if she doesn't replace her front office staff I will find a new vet. read more

Amazing Amazing Amazing! I've taken both of my cats here and so they were an obvious choice for my neighbor whose ducks got attacked by raccoons. They are always helpful for whatever I need and so loving. I've never seen animals take to Dr. Burpee so well. My cats won't even let me give them pills but they relax instantly around Dr. B. She has the magic touch! Their prices are very competitive and are always understanding of your needs and situation. The team and atmosphere are amazing as well! read more

I recently got a new puppy and had no idea where to take her. I started doing some online research and after reading the reviews and seeing that Burbank Veterinary Center is just up the street from my house I decided to give them a call. I honestly couldn't believe how welcoming, sincere and personable they were. I was so comfortable with the Vet and staff it felt like I had been going there for years! We have a lovely pit bull named Eva and one day she was walking and favoring one of her rear legs. We thought she may have pulled a muscle as she likes to chase squirrels in our backyard. However, after several days she didn't get any better. We took her in to get her leg examined. The staff was very friendly and caring. It turned out that Eva had a torn meniscus (I thought only basketball players were afflicted with this). We were presented with a couple options and had decided to go with surgery. Dr. B called the next day to ask how Eva was doing and we had two followup visits (one to remove the cast and the second to remove the stitches). Overall, I had a really good experience with Burbank Veterinary Center. The doctors are knowledgeable and the staff are friendly and caring. I am happy with the surgery and even happier that Eva can now enjoy life and chase squirrels again. read more

My husband picked this vet based off the yelps reviews. We have gone to half a dozen different vet over the last 25 years, so I speak from experience. He went in for a simple exam and a rabies shot for his dog. He came out the first visit with an almost $400 bill and feeling overwhelmed with everything the doctor recommended. He then came back a couple weeks later for a reexam on his ear infection and they charged him another $74, for a re exam fee( ive never been charged for this from other vets)andreflushing the ear( neccessary). When I called to questions the re check fee that the receptionist had told was no charge originally, I was transferred to a business manager you who could out talk any politician and basically said that we werent the right fit.......basically we dont want to deal with you "goodbye". Now that they got almost $500 buck from us. I just want to let you know that we were dissatisfied with the way the clinic made us feel. You need to be able to trust that the vet is only recommending services that are completely neccessary since we are not doctors. read more
