Happened to be in the general area so I decided to a hot and a burger at this small, out-of-the-way place on the far southwest side of Burlington. This is typical Southern cafe - serving breakfast 7 days a week (but no liver pudding), meat and 2 choices for lunch and dinner during the week, closing at 2 PM on Sat and Sun. I was interested in the Hot Dog ($1.70), the Cheeseburger ($2.95), and the FFs ($1.95), pretty much my standard first time order at small cafes/diners. The hot dog was very nice, better than any of the Skid's location, at least on par with Jim's in Graham, and a more standard dog than that at Zack's. The burger is large, and was pretty tasty once properly salted. At $2.95, this is definitely a value burger. The FFs are the ridged rectangles of faux potato sub-matter, no reorder is remotely possible. This place i small, a bit dark, but clean. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient. I will definitely drop by again when the opportunity presents itself.

Cozy, and what you'd expect for a country diner.

The menu offers something for everyone, whether you're in the mood for traditional breakfast staples like fluffy pancakes and eggs benedict or more robust lunch and dinner options like Philly cheesesteaks and burgers. The food is competently executed and very reasonably priced considering the portion size. I saw plenty of folks at tables seated nearby bringing their leftovers home for a second meal. My dining companion and I both had the Breakfast Special ($9), comprised of two eggs as-you-like-them, your choice of bacon or sausage, grits or potatoes, and a slice of bread. We both commented that our meal was pretty tasty and the portion size was reasonable for the price. As others have noted in their reviews, the host/hostess could be a bit friendlier and customer-focused. Angelina's doesn't take reservations and diners are seated on a 'first come, first serve' basis - when the whole party is present. When two of the three folks in our dining party arrived for breakfast on a recent Sunday morning, the hostess insisted we step aside and wait for the third diner to arrive in a few minutes before agreeing to seat us - even though there was no one in line behind us and plenty of open tables. It would have been nice to be seated and have a coffee to pass the few minutes until the third member of our party arrived. Solid 4 stars for a reliable, no-frills meal served by (mostly) friendly staff in a bright, airy space. PRO TIP: The space used to be a McDonald's restaurant, but they've done a great job with the remodel.. especially the dining room located in the former playground area which is now an open, airy space with tons of natural light.

I wanted to be seated so that I could order before she arrived so we could eat promptly after she arrived. We were only a party of two! There were plenty of open tables and booths at the time. It is very obvious that management doesn't trust and hasn't trained their staff to make good, sound decisions that are beneficial to the both the business and the customers. After 30 min a different employee came out of nowhere and offered to seat me. I expressed to her that I was told they were allowed to seat me yet, and it was clear that she had the authority to overrule that "policy". Kudos to her for doing the right thing. Their 3.6 star rating on Yelp is generous.

The first time we went it was pretty packed so we had to wait. They got through the parties before us very quickly and we were able to be seated in a good amount of time from waiting. I went with the south of the border skillet. This includes Chorizo, home potatoes, jalapeños, green peppers, onions, eggs, avocado, and mixed cheese. I mean... what a combination of items! This was great! The potatoes were cooked to be nice and soft, the chorizo had excellent flavor, and the jalapeños were the perfect amount of spicy kick that took this skillet over the top. It's also supposed to come with a side of beans. As a guy who doesn't eat beans a lot, I asked them could I substitute for a different side and they suggested that I get their rice. This was very good as well. We were constantly checked on, drinks were refilled all the time even with asking and very well taken care of. The prices are very reasonable. This place gets straight to the point... great food and excellent service! I've been back a couple times since, and it's definitely in my rotation of breakfast places to go!

I told the waitress discreetly, and a few minutes later the manager/owner came out of the kitchen and pulled the entire container of grits from the buffet. Never have I ever seen a customer do that, but I'm so glad I did, and I'm glad that they took immediate care of it. Now for the food. It could've been a little warmer, but it was still pretty good. I will give them another try for lunch and probably just play it safe by ordering from the menu.

I went early one Saturday morning before the rush (crowds were appearing by the time we left at 9:30a) and were quickly seated in a booth by the window with lots of natural light. The restaurant was clean and well appointed with modern rustic decor and our waitress was super attentive and friendly. I did a bit of research before ordering to only order the most popular dishes in hope of making some memories this time around. I ordered the morning meditation juice which was a perfect mix of their fresh squeezed orange juice, lemon juice, beet juice, turmeric, ginger and agave nectar. Perfect way to start my morning in the sunlight. For my main breakfast entree I got the lemon ricotta pancakes which came with 2 HUGE pancakes the size of the plate. Even though the lemon curd appeared to be a dollop, it was enough for the whole dish since the lemon was very prominent to the point syrup was not needed. The berries were fresh and the pancakes were cooked to perfection (soft with lightly crispy edges). I also enjoyed a hot cup of table side coffee with my drink. I drink it black so I found the plain coffee to have a nice flavor and wasn't bitter at all. Now the million dollar bacon ehhhh.... I heard someone ask if they were thick, not at all. I found the honey to overpower the other seasonings so it was just basic bacon with honey in my opinion. Not worth the almost $7 price tag or the million in the name. If I am in the mood for a solidly good fresh breakfast in a nice atmosphere I'll be sure to stop by, but I wouldn't wait longer than 15 minutes for it.

I looked online for photos of it ahead of time, couldn't find any, so once we were seated I got directions to it and checked it out. It is simple and adequate but just not what I was looking for so my friend and I decided to order from the menu instead. We started with sweet tea and unsweet tea. The unsweet was nice, freshly brewed and not bitter in the least. The sweet tea was too sweet for my friend to drink so we had the waitress come back with an unsweet and mixed it half and half. I sipped it prior to the mix and wow, way too much sugar. I ordered the Chicken Pita and fries. The sandwich was delicious but despite having asked for cucumber sauce (you get a choice of ranch or cucumber) there was no sauce on it. The chicken was delicious though and nicely seasoned, plenty of onions, and the pita was fresh. I'm not a big fan of crinkle fries but they were a solid 3, as good as crinkle fries can be in my opinion. My friend ordered chicken pie, fried okra, sweet potato, and cornbread. The chicken pie looked more like chicken ala king, not enticing, and no topping or crust. So odd. The flavor was not good, bland and just odd for something served as chicken pie and in the south. The okra seemed homemade and was good, and the sweet potato was fresh and tasty. The cornbread is sweet cornbread and was moist. I had quite a bit of tea so I visited the restroom before we left. Big mistake. The toilet paper was just a big roll balanced on the handicap rail, the paper towels for drying your hands was the same, and the floors and door going in and out were dirty...as in most likely not cleaned well in quite some time. Will I return? Not sure. There are limited dining places in Burlington that are not fast food so perhaps, but I certainly hope they pay better attention to cleaning going forward. When a public space looks like that restroom, it makes me wonder what the behind-the-scenes spaces look like.
