I love SV! I can't believe I've never tried this place until recently. It's such a welcoming, homey environment with delicious, cheap food. The staff is also extremely kind! Those biscuits, y'all! Recently stopped in for breakfast and truly enjoyed it. The sausage had a nice sage flavor and the over medium eggs were cooked as I like them...form whites and a runny yoke. I've been to many breakfast spots in town, and this one is a great hidden gem. I ordered scrambled eggs, cheese, and home fries with a biscuit. The food came out really hot even at close to the end of breakfast. You don't get that with a lot of these places. Most of the time the biscuit is cold and the food is lukewarm. the eggs scrambled just right and potatoes were nice and crispy squares on the outside and soft on the inside. This place is in a strip mall and is pretty basic looking. It also cost my daughter and I $12 to eat breakfast here! I mean are you kidding me? That's like a venti frappuccino these days. You seat yourself which I kind of like. There is like 3000 waitresses scurrying around having conversations and dealing with various things. There is a ton of energy in this place. Based on conversations, several of them are locals. Give this place a chance. Let's talk good ol' home-style eating!!! This restaurant is family owned and the employees are very loyal. They have been working here for years which says a Lot about the business. We arrived at 6:02am and the small restaurant was almost full. We were greeted with a hearty Good Morning and found our table. I can tell the wait staff really enjoy their jobs. They Smile and have a good time at work. Our food was HOT and Delicious!! When I left I could've slept in the truck because I was too full. This place is amazing. If you haven't been here you are definitely missing out. The breakfast is good ole home cooked and the fried tenderloin can't be beat. If it wasn't so good I would say it is large enough for 2 people but you can't stop eating and will leave stuffed. Lunch is the same way but they tend to run out of certain items. I ate instant mashed potatoes and I liked it. This place is really neat. A bastion of southern cooking and hospitality presented by an incredibly cheerful and doting waitstaff housed in a modestly cute space in a rundown strip mall. And the food is classic southern comfort.  And tasty, too. Mashed potatoes: because they were instant, I know some may think me gauche, but they were excellent. Perfect consistency and tasty. Beef tips and rice: again, very tasty and comforting. The beef was slightly dry, but that happens with this dish sometimes. Speckled butter beans: you know it is southern cooking when such a specific variant of this ubiquitous southern legume is served. And they were delicious. Steamed cabbage: cooked perfectly and seasoned lightly. Corn bread: very solid effort with a very good taste Biscuit: one of the few places I've encountered that meets my definition of a good biscuit. It was perfectly cooked, fluffy inside and with a delightful southern flavor. Sweet tea: excellent. Not the best I've had, but a top tier version for sure. So I tender unto you yet another place where you can find some delicious southern comfort food. read more

Wow! We were amazed by the food! Just look at the massive size of the biscuits!!! The pork tenderloin for tender and flavorful. The eggs fried to perfection and the hash browns were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Everything was well seasoned. Our server, Nancy, was kind, humorous, and on point with everything! We were traveling through the area and decided to stop in for lunch. Nothing exciting about it from the street. It's in sits in a small older looking shopping shopping center. It looks like it's been around awhile from the decor but likely used to be something else since it said established in 2020. It was pretty busy for a Wednesday at lunch so we figured it was pretty popular with the locals which is always a good sign. I had the spring plate with homemade chicken salad and potato which was perfect for lunch. My family all had chicken tenders which my husband regretted when he saw them bring out ribs for the table next to us, they were one of the specials. We also had the peach cobbler and banana pudding which came out before our meals. Both were yummy. Food tasted great, the waitress was attentive and they kept our drinks refilled. Food also came out quickly. Prices were also reasonable. This is not a 5 star restaurant but giving a 5 for our experience. What a great place for breakfast. There was a long line at 10:15 on a Saturday morning but it moved quickly and we ended up snagging a very comfortable booth. The condiment selection on the table was quite impressive, everything you could want to add to your food or coffee (see my photo). We ordered huge biscuits, sausage gravy, eggs over medium, a cheese omelet, grits, bacon, country ham and hash browns, extra crispy. Everything was cooked perfectly and was served piping hot. We enjoyed it all! The atmosphere was country chic but in a good way, bright and clean. All of the servers, including ours, were super friendly, welcoming and attentive. It seemed that many of the customers knew each other and the wait staff. I'm sure they have many regulars and I intend to become one of them! read more

I was in the area visiting a client, it was Fried Chicken Thursday. I like fried chicken, so Spring Valley Restaurant for lunch it was! This place has been around forever it seems, and is one of the few, long standing, old school, mom & pop diners/cafes we have left in Greensboro - along with Coliseum Cafe, Oakcrest Family Restaurant, Bayside Seafood, Carolina's Diners, and maybe a few more. To fall into this group, imo, you gotta offer home cooked meat & 2's, and more than just Hamburger Steak and Chicken Tenders. The food here is strictly small cafe Southern, always solid, and some items are way better than that - like their Fried Chicken (your call on whether white or dark meat). The chicken is not cooked to order (they fried in anticipation of your order), so the coating is not as crispy as some places, but the taste is there, well seasoned with a slight hint of greasiness. The sides are rather average, perhaps a bit under-seasoned. The biscuits are very large, and have excellent flavor, good at breakfast or lunch. The folks here have been the same forever it seems, both in the kitchen and on the dining room floor - always cheerful, friendly, and efficient. It does get crowded at times, and a bit loud, but you come here for the food anyway. They will call you Honey, and you will like it! read more

Such great breakfast, and they have been around for sooo long. The seating area is small, and it seems that a lot of people order theirs Togo (hence congestion of patiently waiting patrons at the front entrance.) I love to stop by this little jewel for their awesome biscuits. I used to work near here and would stop by about twice a week for breakfast. It's a small place and can get pretty crowded at times. I always call in my orders to-go to avoid the congestion that's usually inside and save a little time.
