My husband I went here on a Saturday morning for brunch. The Mark at Elon is attached to The Inn at Elon on Elon University's campus. We made same day reservations a few hours in advance because we figured it would get crowded with Elon parents visiting their kids. I'm glad we did because it was packed 15 minutes after we sat down. Hostess was kind with greeting us and sat us down right away when we arrived. My husband ordered the shrimp & grits and I ordered the pancakes with sausage. Food came within 15 minutes. The pancakes were fluffy and the sausage was nicely cooked. Service was great and one of the servers made sure to keep my water glass filled. The Mark at Elon is very pretty inside. They have a private parking lot outside reserved for Inn guests and we were able to park there because we were at the restaurant. I would recommend this place if you have guests in town and want something slightly nicer than your typical breakfast diner. They do serve lunch and dinner here too, but I can't speak on that food just yet. I'll have to return to try it out! read more

My daughter and I were out and decided to stop here for lunch. Located in what m to me was the middle of the campus, easy parking, amid tree-lined quiet streets. The atmosphere and staff were welcoming, the service absolutely professional with a smile. The food we selected was delicious. The Mark used to be a very reliable venue for upscale dining. We have been going there for our family Thanksgiving meal for 3 years. Always great service and food. 2025 turned out to be a completely different experience. We had always reserved the private room in the back and it has been perfect. On arrival and checking in I was told we would not have the room that I reserved. Told it couldn't accommodate our party. That's obviously complete nonsense as we have been in the room with the same amount of people. After a conversation with a gentleman who I would assume to be a manager we had only one option sit where they wanted us or leave. We sat, As appetizers are being served the server spills cocktail sauce on my head, clothes and down the back of my shirt. Accidents happen but this didn't feel like one. No apology, management never approached me. Sad. I had cocktail sauce over my clothes and down my back, had to shower when I got home to remove it. The food was okay at best, Definitely not what we've expected in the past. I told the manager we won"t ever be back and as our party left we leaned against the bar and waved at us. So, I have been getting notifications from Yelp about this place for a while now and as it was my birthday I wanted to try something new. This means that off I went to The Mark. First of all, an aside note: this is a GORGEOUS campus. It was stately and modern all at once. I actually found myself envious of the students. The Mark is inside the Inn at Elon which is smack in the middle of campus. The Inn looked charming but more of a hotel than Inn. We had made reservations however they weren't needed as we were the only patrons there. Everyone else was in the Lounge which seemed a more casual dining spot. The inside of the Mark was calming and elegant. The color scheme of s blue and white which may seem old fashioned, but they complement it with abstract art on the walls. The tableware is also quite modern and fresh. My mother started out with the She-crab soup which she exclaimed to be absolutely divine. I had a mixed greens salad that was meh. The presentation was pretty but it was just cucumber and tomato. We both had the pan seared chicken for an entree. This is where they shined. It was a thigh seared ina red wine reduction. It is usually served with cauliflower and a mushroom faro risotto. I substituted the cauliflower with butternut squash, my mother substituted the faro risotto with mashed potatoes. All I can tell you is that my mouth had a 'happy ending's. The chicken was SO moist and full of flavor, the risotto was rich and creamy and the squash was so perfectly done I can't tell you where to dine for special occasions but if you want something intimate, elegant and glorious food...why not give The Mark a try? By the time we got our food it didn't matter how it tasted because the experience leading up to it was terrible. Had a brunch reservation for 1:30. Arrived at 1:30 and waited TWENTY MINUTES for someone to seat us. And that only happened because we went into the bar which was very quiet to ask if there was a hostess. Sat down and then another 15 minutes went by without even seeing a server. At this point there were probably another 4 tables in the dining room. After 15 minutes they sat another table next to us and within about 2 more minutes a server appeared to take THEIR order. I very nicely asked if someone could take ours since we had been there for 35 minutes without so much as a glass of water. The server was nice, apologized, took our order. 22 minutes later our bloody Marys arrived. No joke. It was like we were being pranked. Another 18 minutes after that we finally got our food. How can you run a business like this? We have stayed at the Inn twice previously and quite honestly the service has been terrible (in the restaurant) both times. The staff are all very nice...but possibly totally not trained and totally not enough of them. This is not a cheap place. It's a pretty place but it's totally and completely unacceptable to receive this kind of service and be not apologized to by a manager or at least comped something....again I felt sorry for the waitress. There was no way she could succeed. Gotta get your sh#t together people. Such a major bummer. If you are going to make people wait well over an hour for food...in a mostly empty restaurant, at least make sure they have coffee or drinks while they are waiting. read more

We met some friends here last night for an early dinner. The food overall was very very good. It's the service to us that was kind of a concern. We sat at the bar because we arrived early and it took a solid 10 minutes for the bartender to come out and get us a glass of wine. Once we sat down, and we were there for an early dinner, our waiter was at the table. I swear like every five minutes. He obviously didn't have anything else to do and was just not giving us a little space to chat and get started. Very nice atmosphere and overall good food just needs a little work on the service. read more

For a full scratch kitchen I was surprised by the store bought dinner rolls we were served with our She Crab soup. The soup itself wasn't bad, even though it was a little on the oily side. The soup lacked salt, so I found myself having to add a lot of salt and pepper. It also lacked crab; I found a few small pieces of crab and a few small shells, but I would have preferred it to have more "meat" to it. Once we were done eating our soup, we saw another table that was offered fresh ground pepper, the soup would have definitely benefited more from fresh ground pepper than standard pepper out of a shaker. We order the pimento grilled cheese and the chicken sandwich The menus does not notate that the pimento cheese has jalapeños or that the peach aioli has cayenne pepper, so be aware. The bread from the pimento cheese was grilled perfectly, but the pimento cheese to me was inedible. I am not a pimento cheese snob, but this was just bad. I ended up sending it back. The chicken sandwich wasn't bad even though it was a little heavy with the salt. We were very disappointed when the sandwich was brought out and we were told they had no more slaw. The peach aioli would not have worked with the chicken by itself. As an alternative we asked for some fried green tomatoes and added them to the sandwich, which was a nice alternative to saving the sandwich. The fries were you standard show string fries, so there was nothing special about them. Thankfully the service wasn't bad, otherwise the experience here would have been a lower rating read more

Top-Tier service with a local taste is what The Mark brings to our regional offerings. I was hunting for a spot to meet a friend of mine that's equidistant between Greensboro and Durham. This place met our distance and our palate needs. The chef was personable and available, the wait staff was friendly, accommodating and the food was primarily local, seasoned well and intentional. My friend had the wrap and I chose the fried thigh sandwich. Both were served at the right temperature, quickly, with crisp beautiful fries and warmth. The chef checked on us as we ate and stood ready to adjust or accommodate as needed. We were the only transitional party there between lunch and dinner so the chef brought us an extra treat to try (the pork skins) with a fresh, local green dipping sauce that tasted as if it was freshly plucked from a garden out back. Our drinks, food and atmosphere were exceptional. We look forward to many happy returns. Many thanks to the staff and kitchen at the Mark for making our mini-reunion so memorable. read more

The waitress greeted us with two menus and suggested the more expensive one saying that she didn't love the Lounge menu. However, when we ordered burgers from the lounge menu she commented with " oh my goodness our burgers are fabulous".Our first order of Fried green tomatoes was under cooked with cold tomatoes, The replacement order came back over fried. The calamari was delicious. $37 filet (no garnish or veggie of any kind with it) was served on a large rectangular plate, fortunately my daughter ordered a $7 side of mashed potatoes to balance out the other side of the plate. Burgers were fine , the french fries and cocktails amazing. Basically I think this restaurant is trying to be fine dining but they need to remember that they are on a college campus. My husband and I attended the wine tasting tonight having recently moved to this area. It was outstanding! The wine tasting gave us the chance to try the Inn and The Mark. Corrine and her staff make sure that everyone is tended to. The food was delicious and plentiful! Charcuterie board, sliders, canapés and dessert was chocolate mousse. My description does not do it justice. The wine tasting included a Pinot Gris, Rose and Valpolicella. Afterwards we visited the bar and had the same outstanding service. Based on the food at the tasting and the service at the bar we will be back. read more

Went for brunch, service was so slow, she crab and a pumpkin soup on menu. Pumpkin not available, then told another selection by staff, then told it was not available either. Last option given when all failed was mushroom soup. it was puréed with a little piece of unmelted Brie on it. That was their mushroom and "Brie" soup. It was out of a carton. Probably from Publix. The floor under our table looked like a whole corn muffin broke apart, the placemats and napkins were old and faded. The table sticky. Wait staff slow and uninformed about menu. Reason given for our service... a big crowd before (less than 10 people were eating when we were) and a health inspection was happening!!!!!! Paid too much and never going back! Yuck read more

Buyer beware! Was looking forward to going to The Mark this morning after church for brunch. I had checked the venue out thoroughly before the fact. Rather than eating at the restaurant, we were told to go to the ballroom...not anything like the atmosphere in the restaurant. Rather than the prices we expected to pay, the Easter Brunch was $45.00 per person. No where at no time was this information provided anywhere on line or when I made the reservation. The Inn is beautiful setting for any meal. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Eggs Benedict we're all different from what I'm used to but still delicious. Orange juice was freshly squeezed and fantasticly cold. Coffee was great although creamer was hard to come by hence the 4 stars. I will be back. read more

We went there to meet friends for breakfast. The food was amazing. Service wonderful. They could season the food a bit more especially the eggs but everything else was great. I really enjoyed the grits and pimento cheese! My husband loved the seasoned butter with the French toast. All in all worth it! I have eaten at the Mark before for lunch and it was a different experience. I took my daughter and her 3 friends to dinner at The Mark while I stayed on campus for a quick visit. The meal was subpar - the dip trio was very good. The marguerita pizza didn't have any flavor -the flatbread looked more like a tortilla and tasted like cardboard. The lump meat crab cakes were not lump meat but shredded and instead of it being presented on slaw, it appeared to be placed on onions tossed in the aoli. We all got desserts - the creme brûlée was delicious although very thin, but the NY cheesecake tasted very sour - not sure if the cheese was curdled? It was not what I had expected after having a delicious lunch there a few months ago. read more

Our table was outside on the terrace as requested along with a heater and a view of two fire pits with roaring fires. The tables were set and we were offered cocktails. We had Caesar salads and shrimp and grits to start. The salads were crunchy heads of romaine with delicious dressing, croutons and white anchovies. The grits were a hit, slight spicy and delicious. Referred to as a small plate on the menu, however plenty for people to share as an appetizer. My husband had the crab cakes with salsa verde which were delicious, my son had the short rib and I had the pepper crusted filet. Both were perfectly cooked and served with broccoli and goat cheese mashed potatoes. Why have I not been putting goat cheese in potatoes? All of the food was perfectly cooked and the service was warm, friendly and on point. We had come in from NY to see our friends daughter who is studying at Elon, it was her birthday so they brought a s'mores log dessert with a candle as a suprise. Hidden gem right in the heart of one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country Elon. We were promptly greeted and seated at arrival with reservations. Our servers were very attentive and helpful in explaining and making menu recommendations. Bar service and drinks were spot on, and reasonably priced. I had the pork tenderloin which was very tender, cooked perfectly and flavorful. My wife had the shrimp and grits which she said were some of the best she's ever had. Brunch today was delicious. Couldn't believe we were headed to Elon on move in weekend and yet there we were. The Mark was not crazy busy and we had a very enjoyable meal. Our waitress checked on us frequently and kept coffee filled and brought the meals quickly . I had the waffles with bacon and fresh fruit. Jeff had the eggs and sausage which had just a hint of spice. It was very tasty. We will be back and expect to explore the menu. A very nice experience for after church meal. read more

Sunday brunch, we went out of our way to go to The Mark, an elegant option in the area. LOOKS ONLY. The food was awful - cold, undercooked eggs. The creamer for the coffee was sour and two of our friends ended up with some sort of food poisoning which kicked in before we left the restaurant. Such an opportunity missed for this lovely hotel. This is an elegant restaurant in The Inn at Elon. We went because I read a review on Yelp. We were celebrating our 52nd wedding anniversary and wanted to go to a special place for a special meal. It started off poorly because all the bottles of wine were overpriced. When the menu was presented it was nothing like what was advertised on Yelp. There were a lot of lunch items and only 3 dinner entrees. I asked our server and he said school wasn't in session! My husband ordered a filet - which was delicious - and I had shrimp and grits which was mediocre at best. The shrimp had no flavor and the sauce was a very spicy sausage and a few bits of tomato; not your usual shrimp and grits. To top it off, I walked through the bar to get to the restaurant and the bartender was offering someone a pork chop, which is on the regular menu which was published on Yelp. We had crème brûlée for dessert, which was good, but the crème part was barely 1/2 inch thick - hardly enough to taste, much less serve 2 people. read more

At dinner we had two tables - one with 6 parents and the other with 4 Elon students. Service and food to each table was excellent.
