Absolutely delicious meal - she-crab soup, butternut squash soup, scallops, salmon - all scrumptious. And live music to boot! All on a Tuesday night to celebrate my husband's birthday.

So, I have been getting notifications from Yelp about this place for a while now and as it was my birthday I wanted to try something new. This means that off I went to The Mark. First of all, an aside note: this is a GORGEOUS campus. It was stately and modern all at once. I actually found myself envious of the students. The Mark is inside the Inn at Elon which is smack in the middle of campus. The Inn looked charming but more of a hotel than Inn. We had made reservations however they weren't needed as we were the only patrons there. Everyone else was in the Lounge which seemed a more casual dining spot. The inside of the Mark was calming and elegant. The color scheme of s blue and white which may seem old fashioned, but they complement it with abstract art on the walls. The tableware is also quite modern and fresh. My mother started out with the She-crab soup which she exclaimed to be absolutely divine. I had a mixed greens salad that was meh. The presentation was pretty but it was just cucumber and tomato. We both had the pan seared chicken for an entree. This is where they shined. It was a thigh seared ina red wine reduction. It is usually served with cauliflower and a mushroom faro risotto. I substituted the cauliflower with butternut squash, my mother substituted the faro risotto with mashed potatoes. All I can tell you is that my mouth had a 'happy ending's. The chicken was SO moist and full of flavor, the risotto was rich and creamy and the squash was so perfectly done I can't tell you where to dine for special occasions but if you want something intimate, elegant and glorious food...why not give The Mark a try? Yes, it is a little pricey, but so worth it!

We had a great experience staying at The Inn at Elon but their restaurant The Mark at Elon took it to five stars! The atmosphere and the staff both at the Inn and the restaurant were inviting and warm. We couldn't have wished for more! The food was hot, plentiful and plated with care!

I always have a good time when I go to the bar on Elon. The she crab scoop is my favorite and I love the seasonal salads.

Food was good, but service was a little slow on the day we were there. Would definitely try it again if we're back in the area!

I can't remember our waiter, but he was great. We started with the fried pickles, they were very salty but in a good way. Something you definitely eat while drinking. I had the NY steak cooked to medium and it was cooked to perfection! With a side of broccoli and baked potatoes. I was a little weary when we went to pack up the rest of the fried pickles and under the parchment paper was a French fry. Made me wonder do they wash and clean them or just throw parchment paper in the basket. All in all it was a good visit. I would definitely be back.

However there was an issue with almost every order. My parents were with us and my mom had to send her steak back to be cooked more. I had a 20oz bone in rib eye and it had about every temperature cook possible. Some of it was rare all the way up to a good part of it was well done. My oldest son ordered the mini burgers and couldnt chew and swallow them because of how dry they were so we sent them back and they re cooked them. They were more burnt the second time. They did take it off the cost of our order but then the bills get into a whole different issue. My parents had a coupon for free appetizer which they didnt take off and they had to adjust and then our bills was about $52 and we had a $50 gift card and for some reason only $36.99 was take. Off via the gift card and the waitress didnt give it back to us. We have the gift card receipt that says it had $50 on it so we were out about $13. I dont know if she didnt run the card right or mis charged us or what. We should have looked more thoroughly and didnt notice till we had left. We trusted they deducted the $50. We left a good tip (my parents and I because service was good but now feel like maybe they stole $13 from us). The place was extremely loud which wasn't a great atmosphere for the whole family (our 4 year old and 5month old struggled). We were happy to get out of there but regretted the choice to go. Didnt help I was there for my birthday either.

This restaurant is run by the same folks as Grill 584 (Koury Corporation, I think), and is under the direction of the chef there, David Katz - who was at the late, lamented Boss Hogg in Greensboro, and some time at Bullock's BBQ in Durham. They are offering an dinner menu that is strong on smoked meats - Hand Pulled Pork (basically Eastern NC style with some nice heat), BBQ Chicken, Smoked Turkey Breast, Texas Style Brisket, and "Smackin Good' St Louis Style Ribs, and a number of nice sides. They offer wine and have a decent beer selection. Only non-BBQ meat on the menu is Fried Chicken Livers - this is a BBQ joint setup. The meats are featured in Take Out Specials - pint of Pork BBQ for $9.95, pound of brisket for $12.95, whole smoked BBQ Chicken for $9.95. Sides are available as well. I've only tried the Pork BBQ, and it is every bit as good as that that was served at Boss Hogg - solid Eastern NC style, with some very nice heat. Looking forward to trying the other meats, especially the Brisket and Chicken. Dinner is Tue - Sat, 5 to 9. They offer a small lunch buffet, Mon thru Friday - 11AM to 2PM, for $7.49, including drink, and small salad bar. The items vary from day to day, but include Fried Chicken (very, very good, if a little salty), Chicken Pot Pie, Country Style Steak, Spaghetti, Baked Chicken, BBQ Pork, BBQ Chicken, Fried Fish (Friday), and Baked Salmon. The meats are pretty good to ordinary - the Fried Chicken is very good, the BBQ Pork is not the style served at night - covered with a sweet, tomato sauce. The veggies are ordinary to plain bad - canned or frozen, and poorly seasoned. But the meats are generally worth the price, as is the salad bar.

My husband and I stopped in on a Thursday evening around 7pm and the place was pretty full. We sat ourselves at a table in the back room, and I noticed how laid back the place was, which is something I really appreciate. Sadly, it seemed that the relaxed vibe extended a bit too far and reflected on their cleanliness, as I noticed all of the chair rails were dusty, the floors a bit littered, our table sticky, and the plastic menus in need of replacing. Service, however, was wonderful. Our waitress was friendly and pretty attentive given how busy she was. My husband was happy with their on tap beer selection, deciding on Red Oak ($3 on Thursdays!). I went with a margarita and it wasn't the best, but thankfully I didn't pay much for it since it was also on special. They were out of the southwestern egg rolls I initially ordered, so I ended up going with the Philly cheesesteak and homemade chips. I enjoyed the cheesesteak's fresh bread; plenty of tender meat, peppers, and onions; and gooey cheese. It could have used more mayonnaise, but it was still quite good. The homemade chips were tasty but undercooked; if I had been hungrier, I definitely would have returned them and asked for a fresh batch. My husband absolutely devoured the cheeseburger and fries he ordered. He said that it was one of the best burgers he's had in quite a while, and this is a guy who loves burgers and eats them often. I want to return to Piedmont Ale House in the future. I think there are some things they seem to do really well, namely burgers and beer at really reasonable prices!
