I've officially become a huge fan of Burgatory, and their Heavenly Shakes are a big reason why. This visit, I went straight for my favorite: the Oreo Peanut Butter Shake - adult version, with a shot of peanut butter whiskey. Thick, rich, indulgent... basically dessert doing the absolute most. And bonus points for bringing out the extra shake that wouldn't fit in the glass--because no one should be denied that kind of joy. On the savory side, I ordered the cheeseburger sliders with baked beans. The sliders were perfect for snacking--juicy, classic burger flavor--and I loved that they brought out a plate with lettuce and tomato on the side so you can build it your way. Thoughtful touch. Burgatory was a must-stop on our most recent trip, thanks to my boyfriend, who had one of their adult milkshakes last year while we were in town for work and insisted we go back. I took his suggestion and ordered the Oreo peanut butter pie milkshake, along with a bowl of chili that came with a slice of cornbread. The milkshake did take a little while to come out, but it was absolutely worth the wait. I don't know what kind of witchery they're using, but this was hands down the best milkshake I've ever had. There were actual chunks of peanut butter pie blended in, and the whipped cream wasn't some artificial afterthought. It was decadent, thick, creamy, and generously portioned. The chili was delicious and even had a bit of a spicy kick. I had higher hopes for the cheddar jalapeño cornbread, but while it didn't wow me, it was still tasty. The management and waitstaff at this restaurant are incredibly rude and unprofessional. My spouse and I visited twice in the last month; on one occasion, the server took our drink order while rushing--clearly eager to leave our table--and then took a full 15 minutes to bring the drinks. When I asked why it took so long, I received no explanation. We decided against ordering appetizers, but when we ordered our main courses, I specifically asked the same server to ensure the food didn't take too long. Yet, as if out of spite, that server took a full 35 minutes to bring our burgers--and the restaurant wasn't even busy. The manager then came to our table and tried to justify the delay by lecturing me on burger cooking times. I have enough restaurant kitchen experience to know exactly how long it takes to cook a burger. Staff like this treat customers as if they are fools while trying to take their money. Plenty of parking, typical Burgatory floor plan, friendly hostess. I like coming here to try a few local micros. Typically they have a good selection. Dinner was not great. My brother and his girlfriend love the cookie monster milkshake and I agree it's delicious. Otherwise the food is just OK. The wing sauce is good but the wings themselves aren't great. The one time I got the fiddy fiddy burger I thought the meat didn't taste quite right. The smash burger is probably the best burger we've had there. The service is typically on the slow side and it has often taken a really long time for our food to come out. We ordered curbside takeout after getting to our hotel pretty late. There was a slight mishap upon pickup - we arrived right in the estimated pickup window, but it turned out they hadn't even started the order yet (The receipt indicates the ticket was placed 1 minute after we called to pick up). We got: Burger of the Month ($15) - Per description: BBQ Dusted Hormone Free Beef with Farmhouse Cheddar, B+B Pickles, Tomatoes, Onion Straws, Honey Bourbon Glaze & Bacon Jam on Brioche. The burger was quite juicy, still with a good amount of pink in the middle. The bbq taste really comes out and melds well with the slight sweetness of the honey glaze (not really any bourbon taste though). The bacon jam adds additional savoriness. The onion straws were perfectly crispy but slightly oily. And the pickles and tomatoes adds freshness as always. I believe they forgot the cheese. The burger came with a side of housemade chips, which were crunchy and more on the cooked side - no soft or chewy bits. Excellently cooked chips with a small dusting of salt. Fork It Fries ($11) - Nicely seasoned fries with a light crisp that had a mild rosemary taste. The braised short ribs on top remained juicy and succulent and tasted heavily of red wine demi glace. The cheese curds weren't fresh (no requisite squeak), but added nice richness to the fries. I think they forgot the pan gravy, but the dish still came together nicely. Both dishes were packed very well - they have their boxing down pat. This was my first visit to this location (I've been to the Fox Chapel one a few times) and I'll say the service was just OK for a lunchtime visit. The burgers were good and filling, and the salad the one guy ordered looked big and delicious. He WAS eating it with an angry stare at the rest of us eating burgers, but trust me, he needed the salad!!! I'd probably come here again for lunch as it wasn't too busy when we got there. It's mandatory to try Burgatory when you're in Cranberry Township. I got the opportunity to find out why they received such great reviews on Yelp. What makes Burgatory great is the quality of the food matches the service. But first let's talk food. This burger alone will probably convince me to come back for a second time. It's the Piggy Butter and Jelly burger. It consists of peanut butter, jelly, bacon and a juicy patty. If that's not convincing enough then perhaps their delicious milk shakes will sway you. This was my wife's first visit to Burgatory. Both of our burgers were great but this time the milk shakes missed their mark. Definitely not worth the $11 per shake (spiked). My idea wasn't terrible but average. I had the strawberry pretzel salad shake and at times it lacked any real flavor, other times it had a mild bitterness to it but the biggest disappointment was the large chunks of cream cheese which I think it were the portions of no taste and mild bitterness came from. Service was great- our server was very helpful with navigating our menu choices as vegans. They don't mark which sauces are vegan (hint- most are not) so that made some of our choices have to be reconsidered once the kitchen told her our selections were not fully vegan.
