This was our third time at this restaurant and we loved it and had so much fun! Our server was Tami who was attentive, super nice and came to check on us often. We checked in online (which I highly recommend, especially with kids!) and only sat down for a good 5 minutes. We were sat close to the door, which was good for an active toddler to look around. We ordered the fork it fries with the gravy on the side for an appetizer. It wasn't exactly what we were expecting. It would have been better with fried cheese curds and some nacho cheese or shredded cheese instead of the gravy. I made my own burger and my husband ordered the meat your maker burger and the chicken strip meal for the toddler. Once I started to eat my burger I noticed it had some pink in it (I did specify that I wanted no pink, because I'm pregnant). Took my family to Burgatory after seeing no end to the wait to get a table at The Cheese Cake Factory. Found them on YELP and noticed that they had a higher rating than the CCF so we decided to give them a try. Placed my reservation through the YELP app and things went very smoothly and there was no wait beyond what the app mentioned. I ordered the Impossible burger and was not disappointed to say the least. Now I am a guy that likes to eat and likes to enjoy my food so when I say that the burger exceeded my expectations you can rest assure that it was fantastic. The chips that I ordered, however where thick and hard and not to my liking. I did enjoy the nachos, really good, and the jalapeño cornbread with honey butter. My wife had wings and my two kids both had burgers. The hostesses were very accommodating and the atmosphere was perfect for a burger place. The waitress did at times give off the feeling of being distracted and we felt at times ignored but everyone has a bad day. That did not take away from our over all impression of this place. We were placed outside for dining so I did not notice if they had any televisions inside for the sports enthusiast. Hands down the best burger I've ever eaten. I don't know how they do it, but they get such a delicious char on the exterior and still manage to get the correct temp as requested. You can get burgers red, pink, or no pink. I asked for something between red and pink and received it. There are several burgers you can choose from, or you can build your own. We went in here tonight to hang out with family and try the burgers. The first thing I did, of course was check to see what my fellow Yelpers thought of the place. Good reviews! We went in and the place is hopping. It took about 30-40 minutes to get a table. Since there were so many people waiting, the staff brought a tray of sample milkshakes out. They were the caramel pretzel. Absolutely delicious! I'd wait around for a sample of those any day. We got to our table and were greeted by Zack. What an awesome server. He was very attentive, friendly and kept checking on us. He made sure he got our orders put in just how we wanted them. My husband's burger came out with onion on it in error, but Zack was quick to kindly apologize and fixed it for us. We had this place on our radar but weren't able to make it until our last night in Pittsburgh. It's not too far from the airport where our last hotel was located. One nice feature is you can go on the waitlist through Yelp which I did. This probably saved me about a 20 minute wait. No complaints. - Location. There are other shops and restaurants in the area, which helps if you'd like to do other things. What's not - Happy hour specials start at 5pm, but they're only available at the bar. Not cool. Half off drinks and appetizers, which is a pretty good deal. For example, hubby and I arrived a little before 5pm, so we thought we would take advantage of their happy hour specials. Then the waitress clarified for us that their happy hour specials are only available at their bar. I've been to many restaurants where their happy hour specials apply to all customers, regardless of where you sit. - Price. You get what you pay for, but just be aware that the quality of food comes with a price. For example, I was thinking of trying their egg and potato salad side, but it's an extra $3. You also pay for certain options for their build a burger. Again, be aware that you may be paying for extras. - Layout. There's only a few booths and you have to be specific in asking for one, which hubby and I did not. Otherwise, you're in the open and it's difficult to have a conversation. Many tables for 2 are close together, which makes it difficult to have a conversation. Sound carries in this restaurant. They have a great menu of all natural, hormone free burgers. If your not feeling their signature burgers you can always build your own. I love the option of burgers from wagyu, crab, elk, bison, veggie and even a fifty fifty bacon/beef burger. And don't forget the handcrafted milkshakes to go with your burger. We started with their fork it fries (fresh cut fries, short ribs, cheddar cheese curds and pan gravy). Boy was I in heaven. The fries stayed crispy and the short rib was melt in your mouth. Amazing! Famished after flying for most of the day, my sister and I looked for some good eats near the Microtel. Burgatory peaked our interest with their unique burger menu (not just beef: elk, crab, bisson) and milkshakes. I ordered the Morty's Steakhouse, done medium. It came out pretty pink. I was hungry, I didn't care. It was juicy and delicious. I was afraid the peppercorn crust and horseradish cheese may make it too spicy for me but it wasn't at all. It tasted more like Montreal Steak seasoning, for those of you who know what that is. The side of sweet and russet potato chips were a perfect blend. My sister's chicken sandwich was one of the best she said she's ever had. I couldn't help take a bite when I saw that the breading was clearly done in house and the chicken was doubly piled and perfectly crispy. It was clear that other than the buns, everything here is made in house. They use quality ingredients and the combinations are carefully thought out. I really don't know what the hype about this place is about! Is it because there's not a lot of burger joints in the Pittsburgh area? First we had to wait 45 minutes for a table and we were finally seated next to a large party. Maybe cuz they were understaffed and it was a busy night, but we weren't greeted by our waiter until 15 minutes later after seating. It was also very loud inside and after serving the large party next to us, I think our very unenthusiastic poor waiter was just trying to get through the night. I had the chicken sandwich, which I thought was just ok (slightly on the dry side and honestly, I would've preferred chick fila instead). Everyone else in my party got some form of burger which they all found slightly overcooked/burnt. I did like the portion sizes of the burgers and the fries were pretty good.
