My sister and her husband told us about Dad's Pub & Grub and they couldn't have been more excited. So, we decided to make it a foursome and visit Dad's for dinner one Friday Date Night. Even early on, the place was crowded. It's definitely a local family hangout with an occasional unsupervised child of a wannabe parent. For me, the lighting was a bit bright but we didn't come for the illumination! My sister got a salad with chicken and quite impresively so.....not a single piece of brown edged lettuce in the bowl. That is a big deal. Everything is fresh and made on site. I had the fish sandwich which was very good but it was breaded and not batter dipped. It's strange because the "Cod Pieces" appetizer is batter dipped?! Anyway, it was a wonderful piece of fish. Moist, firm and the tartar sauce was a great accompaniment. The drinks were great and reasonably priced. The service is great. Everyone from the owner to bus help to servers are at your service. You are very well taken care of at Dad's. It's an honest place with people whose intentions are to serve you a great meal at a reasonable price in a comfortable atmosphere and you're not rushed even though the door never stops opening with new diners. Dad's is a staple for our family when we are in the area. (Kennywood, Woodland Hills High School, ect.). The service is always really good with quickness, efficiency, and a friendly demeanor. The food is really good. The menu is extensive, with bar food for any taste. My go it's are the Grueben, which is a mix between a gyro and a Reuben and the Yinzer Quesadilla, which is a quesadilla with a ton of Pittsburgh fixings in it. Disappointed with the new online pricing. Ranch used to be $1 per side but now it's $2 per side. Honestly $1 per side was already too much and now it just seems greedy at $2. Without a doubt the largest burger or sandwich I've ever got at a restaurant. And it tasted great! Sat at the bar, decently busy for a Saturday around 2 p.m. and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. A few tvs to watch football on. We got the Fireball burger (it may have been seasonal?) and the Dads BBQ- you'll need more than the two napkins. Fries were fresh and salty which went well with the burger and a beer. Today, there was a giant storm in Pittsburgh- record breaking and 70-80 mph winds. I walked in to seek shelter (trees were laying in the road and i couldnt get home) I walked in and told the hostess. She was so rude. "We have no power we cant serve you". I said ok? Can you please treat me with basic human decency and let me seek shelter. She didnt even offer us cups of water. Place was mostly empty but they continued to serve alcohol to people who had been there. But couldnt offer us a cup of water and treated us like dirt on their shoe. We stopped here for dinner when I was home for my father's memorial service! And the place was happening!! My Mum got a hamburger and Michaelsan also had a delicious hamburger. Where as I had ordered an egg roll that was stuffed with pepperoni and cheese served with a side of sauce Mmmm good! However my second item was Mac and Cheese served with chili and it wasn't great. In fact it was heartburn city. So the waitress was kind enough to take if off of the bill!! The service was great and the food besides the chili Mac and Cheese was delicious. My favorite local spot! Their new outdoor patio is so fun. People always ask me what the best thing on the menu is to get, and it's one of the few places where I can honestly say that you can't go wrong with anything that you get! I also love that they have a rotating seasonal cocktail menu and frequently do food specials too. They do taco Tuesday every Tuesday, they have lent fish specials, plus every weekend they have other food specials that they post on their Facebook. We visit this place about once or sometimes twice a month whenever we are in the area and most of the food which we have tried here was pretty good. However, on my previous visit there I decided to go off the grid and give their Steak Quesadillas a try. All I can muster up the words to say is Yuck Yuck and Yuck, total disappointment. Not only did they skimp on the amount of meat, they were very bland...no taste whatsoever. In addition and to add salt to the wound (So to speak) the Quesadillas were also very Greasy. On a more positive note though, I did enjoy a bowl of their Wedding Soup which was actually very delicious! *NOTE* Other than this Not So Good Experience, what we have previously had there is usually good and the service and atmosphere of this place is always great, so no complaints there, we'll definitely be back. read more

They have Reuben egg rolls (exactly what it sounds like) and I get them anytime I see them. You get two so it is a nice app to split, and filling. I would be great with one of those egg rolls and a salad or soup but I got the steak and cheese so with the egg rolls as an app I could only finish about a third of my steak and cheese. I just get mushrooms, steak, and cheese and the bun is great (soft with Italian slightly crispy exterior). It isn't steakum or an actual ribeye/steak (more like chopped steak) which was fine. I only want a little starch so I ate a few of the homemade chips with it which are good, thin, kettle-like (almost) but I thought my friend's fries were just as good.my friend's ceasar salad also looked good and he finished every bite so I think it was. read more

A group of retried coworkers and I go there occasionally for lunch. It is usually a little busy, but not so busy that you can't have a conversation. Everything that I have tried on the menu is tasty, and there is enough of a variety that you can try a lot of different things. A lunch special would be a good idea. Came back to Dads in person for the first time since before Covid! It was pretty empty for a Wednesday around 6pm. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was so nice! I ordered the mushroom swiss burger for me and the quesadilla for my daughter. Both were good! I also shared the cod fish bites with our table. I would definitely order them again. The food was pretty standard. Nothing really wowed me, but nothing was bad. Some of the food is great for the price, and other items are underwhelming. Tonight, I tried the small white pizza, small Mac and cheese, and a chicken bacon wrap with some hand cut fries as the side. The Mac and cheese was surprisingly very good. They call it the wolds best, which is definitely a stretch, but it's still a solid Mac that hits the spot. This dish is heavy on what seems to be gouda as the main cheese. Interesting and unique flavor, very creamy, rich, and I love the bread crumb top. The price (under $6) is amazing for the portion. A small is more enough for a meal in my opinion. Overall, great deal and pretty tasty. 3.8/5 The white pizza was quite mediocre in my opinion. They do not make thin crust pies. The regular pizza crust is too thick. They do use a fair amount of ricotta, which adds a nice texture and flavor. But, there isn't much flavor to this pizza, and there is a weird sweetness to it. There are barely any tomatoes (it's like they couldn't decide if they want their white pie to have tomatoes or not, so they just add 3 tiny pieces). Price is alright for the size. Overall underwhelming. 2.4/5 Finally, the wrap. It was decently flavorful and had plenty of ranch, lettuce, and more. Good amount of chicken too, but bacon was too fried (tasted almost burnt) and not very good. The fries were quite delicious, hence why I could barely get a photo. Salty, still crunchy, and just tasty. Solid 3/5. All in all, Dad's is pretty decent for a bar. Middle of the road in terms of flavor quality, but great Mac n cheese if you like Gouda. The pizza wasn't that great, but nothing I had was bad, especially for the price. read more

Stopped for lunch with a buddy. Nice to see the old Foli's pub space back up and running. Got seats in the back room, and the server promptly took our drink orders. Came back and we both ordered burgers with fries. The food came out soon enough, prepared right and looked good! Tasted great...we were both pleased. Dad's Pub has opened a second location that is a little more handy for me. Stopped in for lunch on a cold snow flurry day and had a really good lunch. Started with Dad's Award Winning Spicy Chili. My cup was full of meat and few small pieces of pepper and was the perfect spiciness. Followed that with an E Burger that is cajun seasoned and sauced with peppers, onion and hot pepper cheese. My burger was cooked to the correct temperature and very tasty and sloppy good. The fresh homemade fries were crispy and good. There were 17 beers on tap. The staff was very friendly and there seemed to be many who the staff know. A nice addition the the neighborhood. read more

Went around 4 on a Saturday. Nice decor and well lit. We were seated right away. The service was very good. We ordered the pretzel sticks and fireball cheese bites as appetizers. Both were good, but extremely greasy. The cheese sauce that came with the pretzel sticks was very good. It wasn't your standard canned processed cheese sauce. Tasted like real cheese. We ordered a large pizza with banana peepers, mushroom, and onions as our entree. It was good, but not memorable. If you get a lot of toppings make sure to ask for the pizza well done. If you don't, the pizza crust will be a soggy wet mess. Overall not bad. I've been to the Monroeville location as well and have had some of their sandwiches. Tried the Dad's in Monroeville & loved it, so decided to try this Dad's in Braddock to see if it was just as good. It is. Apparently one guy owns the one in Monroeville & his brother owns the one in Braddock (so I've been told). We got the "Famous Pub Chips" with the seasoned salt again and I got the cheesesteak sub again. They were both so good when we tried them in Monroeville. This time, my daughter opted for something different and tried the Italian Hoagie. She liked that they had diced the onions and tomatoes before putting on her hoagie, which made it easier to eat. She said it was good, and it must have been. She ate the entire hoagie & all of the chips that came with it. Only two kiddos with us this time. One got the corndog nugget kid's meal & the other got the chicken tender kid's meal. She said she didn't care for the chicken, but maybe it was because she ate a bunch of the appetizer chips first. Other kiddo didn't & ate all of his meal. This one's not as big as the one in Monroeville & a lot more off of the beaten track. I've driven this road before & never knew it was here. So it wasn't too crowded, but they must get a lot of delivery orders because they have a section just for the various ones - DoorDash, Grub Hub, and Uber Eats. Excellent little pub that is off the beaten path in Braddock Hills! The bartenders are friendly and the service is excellent. I find the clientele to be warm and welcoming. Dad's is a wonderful place to sit at the bar and chat with folks over a few beers. The burgers are always cooked to order and the fries are hand cut and delicious. I have also tried their hotdogs with chili and cheese - the only other place that I have gotten a dog as good is D's in Regent Square. There's a decent beer selection. It's not huge, but it rotates seasonally. I wish there was a better whisky selection - the only Irish is Jameson. But, it's small bar. I understand that the patio is dog friendly. I haven't brought my dog to Dad's, yet. I like to go there for a little escape and taking my dog is like taking a toddler out. I highly recommend Dad's! read more
