Decided to try out Burgatory based on a recommendation. Perhaps my expectations were set too high. I tried the elk custom burger and chocolate shake. I wasn't too fond of either. It appears they don't use real ice cream but the frozen kind that comes out of a machine? Not sure, but it was definitely on the lower half of shakes that I have had. The elk burger was pretty flavorless but that could be due to my choices made. And finally, I have never been at a place where they decide on their own that they will round up your bill and not even mention they did it. Imagine how much more $ they get by doing this. I just reduced the tip for my "missing" change. $26 for a burger and shake seems a bit extreme, especially when I didn't even enjoy it and only ate a small portion of it. This was my first time to any Burgatory, and we had a good time. The rest of my party did the "create your own burger" option, and all were thrilled with the results. I had the Elk burger and, while the flavor was great, the bacon jam made the whole thing too mushy. The burger also came with homemade potato chips which were tasty, but too small in both size and portion, in my opinion. The overall ambience of the place was great, and our server was perfect. Holy wow this guy waits tables like a Rockstar. I'm a total p.i.t.a. adding different to go orders, no alcohol, and I still get treated awesome! The food is always on point each location we've tried. Ordered our burgers "pink." After a very long wait, they arrived over cooked and dry. We sent them back. After a second very long wait they arrived again and again they were over cooked and dry, and one was so tiny it looked lost on the pretzel bun, which was stale. Wow what a hamburger there are some that you can order off the menu but creating your own is kind of fun in fact you can go a little overboard so many things to choose from who knew. Friend's departing flight delayed 2 hours so food and drink were in order off site. This venue was handy and ohhhh such a reward from our bartender/server to our food selections. I ordered the Farm House Salad with grilled chicken. The food was brought out for our table of four and mine was missing. I asked where mine was and the table runner went back to the kitchen to look. They brought out a salad and walked away almost instantly and it was the Sonoma chopped chicken salad in front of me. It took us a couple of minutes to flag someone down, and they said oh they brought out the wrong one but yours is back there. Fifteen minutes later, I got my salad. Then they walked away immediately again and there was no dressing, I poked around and tried to see if it was under the chicken, but nothing. Took another ten minutes to flag down our waitress and because by this time everyone else was completely finished with their food, I just asked for a box and the dressing to be put in to go cups. She brought out the smallest box, and I had to ask for a larger box to fit my ENTIRE salad in that I didn't get to eat. This isn't the first time orders have been messed up at this burgatory, but it was by far the most frustrating. The star of the show here are the burgers and milkshakes. You can build your own burger, there is a check sheet at each table with pencils. You create your burger and toppings from the items listed on the sheet. You can also just order from the regular menu. There are vegan options (burgers and shakes). They substitute milk for almond milk in their shakes. The restaurant is clean and tidy. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a full service bar, it has flat screens above the bar seats. It has a small sports bar feel to it. There is good spacing between the bar and the main restaurant seating. I custom built my own burger, the "fiddy-fiddy", it's half ground beef and half bacon. There are 3 choices is doneness: pink, some pink, no pink. The fiddy-fiddy comes out pink, but it's not rare, the bacon mixed in makes it look pink, after being fully cooked. Dont panic, the burger isnt raw! I also had the sea salt and herb fries, sweet tea and a chocolate milk shake. This was my first visit to Pittsburgh and my friend recommended this local chain. It is AMAZING. I got the Meat Your Maker and my burger was perfectly cooked and hit all the right notes. The fries were also really good and I got it with a side of the chimichurri aioli which was also excellent. Well variety is your middle name here. Grilled onions, onion straws, etc. you get to chose your toppings. The meat patty is thick but cooked evenly throughout. Personally, I thought the fries were just ok. So where's the downside in this review. The tables are small and the noise level is loud. Like really loud which bounces off all the hard surfaces. It's a family place so the clientele is young to old. And I felt that the price for the quality of ingredients was fair. As for the service, they do a pretty darn good job considering how packed it was. Plus, they explained the menu and took a solid interest in making sure your happy. Please tip appropriately. With a name like Burgatory I had to do some investigating. I read a few reviews and looked at some mouth watering pictures. Now I'm amped up and ready to go. So I set out to give these guys a try and they did delivered. With good atmosphere despite the pandemic and good customer service. I had a few seating options and I narrowed it down to two. The outdoor seating area with flame throwing heaters ( it did look pretty cool but it was just me.) So I choose a booth seat facing the many large flatscreen TVs. ( Because the bar seating was closed due to the pandemic.) And wanted to watch some Monday night football. I quickly ordered a Grand-Dad's Secret. A hard shake that is made with bourbon. Wow that rich full bourbon flavor. Now that was a great first impression! For my appetizer I went with the onion rings. But these aren't any ordinary onion rings. They were piping hot fresh from the kitchen with their Tangy sauce that made the onion rings incredibly good. Now it's time for the main course. While I was waiting I ordered a Siesta Sangria that showed up moments before my Meat Your Maker grand finale. And it complement it very well I might add. The Meat Your Maker entrée came with home made chips/crisp. That was also good, but The flavor was average and in my opinion lack a wow factor. The chips were weirdly chewy and hard. The burger looked beautiful and even though the chips were pushed aside, I had high hopes for the burger. This review is for happy hour: 5-7 in the bar area only, all of the apps are $5 as well as their house cocktails and craft beer. I had the Bacon Mary and it was amaze balls! Old bay rim, candied bacon, garnished with olives, cukes, lemons and limes. Solid base for the drink too! I had some onion rings which were pretty standard. Good, but nothing to write home about. The Fork It fries (essentially poutine) were quite delicious. The gravy was so flavorful but not overly salty. And the braised short ribs were so tender and melted in my mouth. Burgatory serves more than just hamburgers. My son and I stopped here for a late lunch. We got seated right away and got served pretty quickly too. We started off with the guacamole and chips with tomatoes. They were so good it's hard to resist them when you order a meal. I went with the cha cha chicken substituting grilled chicken breast since they were out of chicken burger. The sandwich comes with tomato, cheese, avocado, bacon and French onion dip on a pretzel bun. I requested a side salad in place of the chips but when I got my order they served me chips. They admitted fault and would give me the side salad at no extra cost. My son decided to "build his own burger" since he was vegan and wanted all vegan ingredients. He order the vegan veggie burger along with vegan cheese. Note, when "building your own burger" you need to complete a form indicating your preferences. Both of our lunches were very good. The chips I tasted were crisp and not greasy. The side salad was big! I could have made a whole meal out of that one! My chicken was very good and quite filling! My son polished most of the guacamole and chip along with his vegan burger. He really enjoyed it. This place is known for their milkshakes and if you are vegan they have you covered there. The also serve salads and chili here. They have pretty much a full bar. Burgatory is a chain eatery and many things are priced ala carte. Still it's worth it to me for a good meal. While in a business meeting in the Coraopolis area and not able to run out for lunch, I used Uber Eats to grab lunch for those of us in the meeting. I used the "express" feature to ensure I got it quickly and it was still 6 minutes late. Once it arrived, the first thing I noticed was that the box that held the fries was opened and they were exposed... kinda gross, as they were sticking out of the bag being carried by the Uber driver. Then I noticed that none of the boxes were marked what was in each... is it that hard to use a sticker or write what's in the box? Upon opening the onion ring box, about ¼" of the bottom was deep with grease! Ewwww.... The onion rings tasted great, but the ones on the bottom weren't edible as they were cold and completely greasy. My sandwich was decent, but cold and it had no sauce on it at all, even though I asked for the sauce to be on it and to give me extra sauce on the side in my comments when I placed the order. I ordered a side of baked beans and there were no utensils with the order, even though I specifically asked for some and lastly, because we were eating at a client's location, I asked for extra napkins, and I got none. I'm not sure what the food, service and attention to detail is normally like, but considering this order, it was horrible. read more

We came here for lunch and it was pretty lonely. Not very busy at all. The staff was very friendly, but they were somewhat slow and lacked a sense of urgency. It took bout 10 minutes for me to get my beer that I ordered. When you're craving a beer on a hot afternoon, you kind of want that beer right away. We ordered 2 burgers. I ordered their Mortys Steakhouse because burger and unfortunately didn't enjoy it much. The horseradish cheddar overpowered the burger and didn't go well with the haystack onions. I've never been a fan of haystack onions, so I'm not really sure why I ordered this burger. My other option would have been the Piggy Butter & Jelly Burger, but my wife ordered that one. That one tasted a lot better. Candied bacon, habanero jelly. Really can't beat that. If I were ever to return, I would definitely order that one. read more
