Pretty good, I had the East Coast and my boyfriend had the West Coast. They were both pretty good but my blueberry chipotle sauce was a little dry. I've been here once before and ordered the same thing and the sauce was better that time. We also ordered French fries with the original sauce and it was decent as well. Was in here Monday night, after I got off of work. Been craving a hefty sloppy burger, you know, one that you have to unhinge your jaw for and the juices run down your beard. Sat at the bar. Went here back in February and I'm counting down the days until I go home again so I can get some of the best fries around. Dipping sauces=awesome sauce. The cilantro dipping sauce was my favorite. As for the service, it took a while to get seated and it was pretty crowded. Once we got to a table,our waited greeted us and it was no time until we got our food. Very tasty, quality food. I got the "Milford Sound", a heap of sautéed mushrooms and peppers plus a fried egg on a deliciously soft bun. Disappointed that fries were an add-on at a burger place, so I passed on them but they looked great. Also, I got a happy hour special - half price for six jumbo shrimp. Very good! Burger Bach was highly recommended to me from a local. I was a little hesitant since i had eaten God knows how many burgers the day before for July 4. However, Burger Bach 's delicious burgers and their variety of sauces, while obviously kind of gimmicky, was totally awesome. I tried the garlic aoli, the blueberry chipotle. the pesto aoli (my fav) and the jal (also very good). The fries were ok but not remarkable. I do tend to like them a little crispier and some of the smaller ones were pretty limp and greasy. I'm sure they could fry them more upon request though. That being said, the food came out fast and hot and the bartender was very polite and attentive. I've seen other reviews remark about why the burger comes with just lettuce and no fries normally. I am inclined to agree with that view point. While my "salad" did have an oil on it (presumably olive oil) there was nothing else. I had the same greens on my burger so I didn't really understand the move. But the burger was cooked "pink." I was a little taken back that I wasn't asked specifically how I wanted it cooked, just if I was ok with it pink (I clarified by asking medium rare to medium and it came out somewhere in the middle as asked). All in all, I liked Burger Bach and recommend it for burger lovers. Oh and their menu is pretty extensive with other options but sadly the seafood is an afternoon only affair (Except weekends it seems). read more

Mediocre. Nothing tasted bad. But something was lacking. I asked for my patty pink - it was totally grey. Fries don't come standard with a burger but a green salad does. The salad is tiny and comes with a barely detectable dressing. The experience was a disappointment in that beef is already is very taxing on the environment, which is why I eat burgers only occasionally and therefore I am discriminating when I do. They ship the beef all the way from New Zealand as if a decent local option isn't available. There are four televisions to distract from being present. I moved to the Carytown area last year so I have constantly passed the old Burger Bach off of Ellewood but never got the chance to visit. Fortunately, the new location has opened up in Carytown, right by the Kroger and a strip of other small restaurants. I'm gonna be honest, I totally did not have any high expectations for this place. I'm not really a burger girl--if I want a burger, i would usually just make them from scratch at home. But it was the first warm weekend of the season so my boyfriend convinced me to eat out and we were drawn in by the patio seating. I ordered a lamb burger that was Greek-inspired with a taziki aioli sauce with goat cheese, a large fries with the garlic aioli sauce, organic ketchup, and the classic sauce, and a strawberry mule. The burger was pretty tasty. Nothing out of this world, but I think the flavors and locally sourced/high quality ingredients warranted the premium pricing (but happy it didn't feel overpriced). The mule was well-balanced with just enough alcohol to ensure I didn't feel cheated out of $11 but not like I was guzzling straight liquor. My one complaint about my drink was that the muddled strawberry chunks were very chunky and made it difficult to drink at times. The fries were my favorite part of the meal! Perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of crunch and density. The sauces were a great way to taste something different throughout one meal--my boyfriend and I were literally rotating with each dip. The verdict: Go on a sunny day and get seated outside! The burgers are more about variety and ingredient quality, so you'll likely never have a bad burger, but don't expect it to be a life changing experience. Food: Ordered the hangover and the Plymouth burger. Girlfriend said her Plymouth was a 4.8 star, me being from Wisconsin I found mine wasnt something to write home about. Was a good burger but nothing spectacular about it. Salad was drowned in olive oil, loved the flavor hated the drenched palate. Should give you choice on salad dressing or ask if you would like it on the side. The fries were an unfortunate menu option, 4$ for a small fry that you would normally get double the amount for free at other restaurants and on top of that you only received one option is dipping sauce (ketchup an option, not free ). Despite the extreme convenience of already being somewhere, once I was in the area, I knew what was nearby. Burger Bach has awesome burgers. We really enjoy the Queenstown and the East Coast (?) burgers. The blueberry on the one is delicious! The staff have always been very nice and friendly and the beer selection is top-notch for a burger joint! Additionally, the fries and all the dipping sauces are also really tasty! Next time I am meeting up with someone, I'll pick another part of town so that I won't be tempted to stop by this place for their awesome burgers and beer! For a name like Burger Bach, I was expecting a nice sized burger menu, but that wasn't the case, your choices are limited. The sauce made the burger, but there is something off. Tonight was approximately the 30th time I've been to this location and I have zero reason to return. Nada. Zilch. Usually we sit at the long communal table or in a booth. Tonight, as we visited around 8PM, on a Tuesday, we sat at the 2nd and 3rd bar stools from the door at the very sticky bar. Sure, there were open tables, but no one to greet us as we stood aimlessly at the front door. And we sat, and sat, and sat some more while no one bothered to acknowledge us. This gave us ample opportunity to watch the expo window and partial view of this kitchen that included two heavily bearded men, with no nets on their faces, preparing meals. The red flags were waving, but our hungry bellies and previously decent experiences here encouraged us to stay. Finally, a bartender ? Manager ? who knows because he didn't introduce himself, but didn't have a uniform on, and was visibly disinterested in serving anyone. The one food menu he gave us for both of us remained in front of us for the duration of our meal. When we gave him our order, he came back, not once, but TWICE from the computer to confirm it. And guess what? I STILL got the East Coast burger instead of the West Coast burger I ordered . Not one time did he stop back by to check quality, or if we needed another cocktail, or even a to go container . I had to ask the expo guy to go find the guy to get our check. However, we were entertained by the service staff at the takeout counter standing around chatting and whining about working . No patron, I repeat , NO paying guest wants to hear it. 2 draft beers, 2 burgers, and fries for $44 with the most apathetic, abysmally poor service. Upper management needs to take the reins . A friend of mine recently invited me out for some drinks and told me to meet him at Burger Bach. I've wanted to try this place for a while. The smell of burgers lingers in the Carytown air. Didn't eat there that day, but found out that they offer a nice selection of draft beers (lots of local VA brews and a few others), all for $4. Very reasonable for a draft. They also offer New Zealand beers that are a little higher in price, but I didn't try any. A few days later I went back to try the food. I got the 'Wellington' burger. Long story short, it was very good. I wouldn't call it the best burger I've ever had, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. I also ordered fries with three dipping sauces (jalapeno, garlic, and I think basil pesto). Good fries, and the sauces were quite tasty. My only complaint is that food is a little expensive for what you get. Most of the burgers are $11 (6oz patty), and that's with a small salad served on the same plate. Fries are extra (not included for the $11), sauces are extra, and sodas are in bottle so no refills. You could drop almost $20 per person at a burger place, and that's not including alcohol. My wife got the cheapest burger at $8 and after 30 min they came back to the table to say they were out of that one. She ordered another (the new plymoth) and when the food arrived, the waitress gave me her burger and she got my blue cheese burger (the Wellington). We figured it out after a few bites. Her burger tasted gamy and she's been in the bathroom all day. With one beer and a coke the whole ordeal set us back $40 for hamburgers that weren't that great and made my wife downright sick. To be fair I believe they serve a lamb burger and that's probably what they put I front of my wife but I don't know for sure. Located at far end of Carytown near Ellwood Thompson's, Burger Bach is a great Richmond burger joint. It has a casual and social vibe, with some of the tables being larger so that you're sitting next to people outside of your group (though not so close that it is uncomfortable). There are also several booths and outdoor seating. It gets pretty busy, and I have had a pretty considerable wait to be seated each time I have been. However, I soon forgot all about my wait once the food was served. I have tried both one of the burgers as well as the French Chik, and both were excellent. I was happy to learn that the beef was grass-fed, and it was noticeable in the taste of the burger. However, these burgers don't come cheap. You'll be paying a good $10-$12 for a medium-sized burger with a small amount of greens on the side. My friends and I also enjoyed trying the fries with the sauce sampler, which was a real treat, especially the basil pesto aioli. Despite the wait, it seemed like our dining experience was pretty efficient, and we enjoyed a nice walk in Carytown afterwards. read more

I am SO disappointed in your customer service related to covid precautions. I am high risk so I called in for pick up. I was told our food would be ready at 6:15 so I arrived on time. I tried to call to have it delivered to my car but after multiple attempts with no answer, I was forced to leave the safety of my car to go inside. Once inside, I was told they just needed to bag the food. I had a hunch my food was on the bar top, but said nothing. After waiting uncomfortably inside for my food for 15min, the food that WAS on the bar top was brought over to me. Last night, we were greeted at the door and seated within a minute--all good. Then, it took a full 20 minutes before someone--anyone--came by to check on us or take a drink order. We ordered both drinks and food in hopes that saving the extra step of two orders would smooth our dinner experience. No such luck. Another full 15 minutes before we flagged a hostess to ask where the heck our drinks were. We were met with "Sorry!" from the hostesses and from our AWOL waitress who STILL did not produce at least water for another five minutes. Walk out is what we did. What a shame.
