I had a wonderful time at this Museum District local gem with a friend of mine. First of all this spot is super Richmond. It has a local feel and is incredibly cozy. It's a tinier space so feels very intimate. Our waitress was extremely kind. They also have great happy hour deals. You can find both food and drink deals. On my visit I ordered the wings with smoky barbeque, a side of broccoli, and a mini mac. The wings were so juicy and tasty. I wish they had a bit more of a crunch on the outside, but they were still so good. The sauce was great. I really loved the way they prepared their broccoli. I devoured the mac and cheese. I can be picky with homemade mac and cheese, and really enjoyed this one. If you're looking for a casual and yummy spot for food, I highly recommend visiting The Franklin Inn.

One singular mozzarella stick. Sorry I didn't get a photo for the first 3.

LOVE the Franklin Inn. They have THE BEST Mozzarella Sticks in Richmond. Order them for a meal. Its just plain and simple deep fried mozzarella. Also, $7 burger night on Wednesday. ALSO brunch is amazing, biscuits are great. Great atmosphere, great people, what a gem in the fan.

The atmosphere is great! It is very charming and old (in a good way)! The staff is super friendly and prices are fair! The food is normal bar food, but they do have good weekly deals. Definitely recommend going!

We had a great night at Franklin Inn, and look forward to joining them on burger nights in the future! On Wednesdays, they do a six dollar burger, usually almost $15. The french fries were great, my favorite part of the meal. The bun for the burger was nice and soft. The wings were good, could be a bit meatier. The service was good, and there was a friendly atmosphere in the bar area. This is definitely a cozy neighborhood bar, and I hope to visit again soon!

My husband and I tried this cute neighborhood corner spot for brunch today. It was super cute and cozy and welcoming. We chose a little booth and were immediately greeted. We ordered coffee, a mimosa, the veggie biscuit and the southern biscuit and a side of potatoes. My husband loved his mimosa. The biscuits were delicious: light and flaky! The breakfast potatoes, not so much. But we won't hold that against them because they took it off our tab and everything else was great!

Franklin Inn's "Smash It All The Way" burger with bacon, fried onions, pickled jalapenos and pimento cheese.

One of those places that you're not sure if you should post a review because the regulars may hunt you down and silence you, this cozy little gem has been serving arguably the best burger in town for years, and also features a great brunch menu. Not the biggest place, so a meal at peak time may mean a wait, but the food is worth it. With my "Smash it all the way" burger were fries so fresh that the potato was still mad for giving them up. The "all the way" part features pickled jalapenos (not too hot to overpower the burger's taste), fried onions, bacon and pimento cheese. Usually pimento cheese will make the burger useless without a fork, but this was the perfect amount to make the double patties gooey but not unable to be picked up. If you want to visit old Ben Franklin head downstairs to one of the washrooms to see a portrait of the original C-note gangsta up on the wall. Otherwise grab a brew and a burger and go all the way!

I love finding restaurants nestled in historic neighborhoods and the Franklin Inn is no exception. Although it's a tiny little place, I love the tin ceiling and stained glass. Rustic and quaint little booths make for quick lunch or a cozy dinner. I ordered the chicken salad and it was off the chain phenomenal! Some of the best I've had. The server was kind and accommodating and the place was tidy. They have a lovely tea selection and a well stocked bar. There's plenty of street parking, and many of their patrons just walk here! The inviting patio is the perfect setting for an al fresco meal. (Because it's so small, it was a bit loud-but we did arrive at the height of the lunch crowd). I'm looking forward to coming back to this historically memorable, charming spot and trying the brunch! I hear it's fantastic! Update: I love the food here and have been here many times. Today though, is the first time I've ever used the restroom. Oh-Ma-Gawd...talk about gross... GA-ROSS... you walk down a dangerous, rickety staircase into a dank dungeon basement, roaches were crawling on the wall... the toilet seat was broken, it was disgusting and was like a dank cesspool. C'mon! Clean that filth up, paint and get some new fixtures. I deleted a star * but should have deleted two... let's see if they resolve this DIRTY port-a-potty!!

The grilled chicken was juicy, the toppings were fresh, and the pickled onions added the perfect tangy bite. Every bite was delicious. The fries were crispy and the perfect side. To top it all off, I had one of their frozen drinks, and it was so refreshing--the perfect pairing with the meal. If you're looking for a casual spot with great food, generous portions, and a fun tropical atmosphere, this place is definitely worth checking out. I'll definitely be back.

The staff were polite, but we had to ask several times to get items we were missing or things we wanted extras of. They checked in on us a fair number of times, but they still forgot to return to give us what we had asked for. By the time we were ready to leave, we still haven't gotten our dressings or our condiments. I also had asked for my burger to be well done, but I got a burger with quite a bit of pink in it. I didn't want to ask for it to be placed back on the grill because I didn't really want to wait longer for my food. Although I wanted my burger to be well done and I didn't get it that way, it was still pretty good. The fries though, I think was the best part of it. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crunchy! I also ordered a coke. Just a heads up, they don't do free refills on the sodas, so each cup is $4. My party also ordered salmon l'orange and a romano salad with salmon. My friends really enjoyed their main dishes, but we did ask for extra dressing. The restaurant is decorated in a boho-style vibe, and it was cute. We found the lighting on the side dining area to be a little bit too dim once the sun went down, but I do think it would've been perfect for a date night vibe. Overall, we had an okay experience.

The menu has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but we both landed on the Hot Chicken Sandwich with cayenne butter--and we're glad we did. It had the perfect amount of heat: enough to bring some spice without overpowering the flavor. On the side, I ordered the green beans after our bartender/server highly recommended them. Normally, green beans wouldn't be my first choice, but they were seasoned perfectly and ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. My partner chose the mac and cheese, which was the superior side (although both were excellent). The service was friendly, attentive, and genuine throughout the evening. Despite arriving on a Friday night without a reservation, we had no trouble getting a table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5-8, so I'm glad we decided to take our chances. One of my favorite parts of the evening was chatting with another guest at the bar. He and his wife shared several entrées with their young son, and they couldn't stop raving about the short ribs--which their son happily claimed for himself by the end of the meal! They also highly recommended the salmon, so we've already got ideas for our next visit. The only real downside has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: parking in Scott's Addition can be a challenge. I'd recommend allowing yourself some extra time to find a spot or, even better, taking a rideshare so you can start enjoying your evening right away. Lunch. Supper! has earned its reputation as a longtime Richmond favorite. Great food, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphere make this an easy five-star recommendation. We'll definitely be back.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Riverside Tavern on Forest Hill Avenue…read more I ordered the grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus to go for $23.00. When I opened the container, I was shocked to find that the salmon portion was barely larger than my finger. It looked more like a sample than an entrée. I have attached photos because words alone don't adequately capture how small it was. What makes this even more frustrating is that I have ordered this exact meal before while dining in with my family, and the salmon portion I received then was easily three times larger. So this isn't a case of unrealistic expectations--I know what this dish normally looks like. I called the restaurant to express my concern, hoping they would make it right. Instead, the bartender responded with, "The portions are cut how they are cut," as if that somehow justified charging full price for such a tiny piece of fish. When I asked to speak with the owner, I was told, "You won't be talking to the owner. I'll just give him your information." There was no apology, no offer to replace the meal, no effort to address my concern--just complete indifference. If portions have been reduced, customers should be informed before paying premium prices. If this was simply an inconsistent serving, then quality control is seriously lacking. Either way, charging $23 for what amounts to a nugget of salmon is unacceptable. I used to enjoy Riverside Tavern and specifically ordered this meal because I had a good experience previously. Unfortunately, this visit--and especially the way my complaint was handled--has left me questioning whether I'll be back.
