After turning us away, he joked to my stepdad, "You were this close to getting a beer." Instead of making the situation less awkward, it came across as insensitive after we had driven out of our way with visiting family only to be refused entry. I understand that businesses can set their own policies, and if they choose to be 18+, that's their right. What was disappointing was that the policy wasn't communicated on their website or Facebook, and the interaction lacked courtesy. A simple apology and clear notice online would have prevented a wasted trip and an uncomfortable experience. After just now reading the reviews it seems that this is the way they treat anyone with children. Unfortunately, because of how this was handled, we won't be back.
