Slickers is a staple when visiting old forge. A great time with good and good drinks. Love their bucket drinks and think they're a great deal and a fun souvenir. We were seated immediately which was awesome seeing as it was 4th of July weekend. We ordered the spinach and shrimp dip for an appetizer and we ate that up immediately. My boyfriend got a bacon cheeseburger which he thought was really good and cooked perfectly (medium rare fyi). I chose the drunken chicken which was huge and the chipotle mayo was a nice addition! Overall very good and filling. Slickers is always a good time with friendly customers and staff. I've never had a bad experience here! read more

Upon arrival the place was pretty busy but we saw two open booths to our left. Due to being a family of 5, they told us it would be a 10-15 minute wait for a table, outside and inside options were full. We didn't realize they were attempting to close the section to the left. We waited about 25 mins. Some other families arrived with 4 and were seated immediately. We were finally seated. 10 minutes after we were seated I went back to the hostess and asked who are server is since we still didn't have drink orders. It was the server that was serving the table next to us. She never said, "oh I'll be right with you", even after she went to that table 5 times. They kept asking for drinks and crackers and more items. After I approached the hostess I saw them flag her down and ask her to serve us, not sure if she was supposed to go home, on break or what the breakdown with service happened to be. After the hostess flags her down she comes up to our table and asks for drinks, no apology for the wait or having to flag her down to get service. I said we have been here for 10 minutes, we are ready to place our full order. We order everything. It takes 11 minutes to bring 5 waters, 2 sodas, and 2 bottles of beer. This is after the place has now cleared and is quiet inside. 85% of the tables and bar are empty. 28 minutes later our food arrives. She never came back to ask for refills. She had two tables at this point, ours and a family of 4 behind us. After the food was delivered and we were eating I glanced over to the bar to see the manager, hostess, bar tender all eating chips and dip at the bar due to it all slowing down. The server came right over to ask if everything was ok and began leaving before we could answer. We would like more drinks. Buser never cleared our table. I had to put dirty dishes on the table being cleared next to us. Service was negative stars. I have two stars because the food was really good, the environment was ok. Some cobwebs in corners and the building is a little shabby, but it goes with the vibe. I would rather have stellar service and ok food than great food and not great service. read more

The food was pretty mediocre. Service was not bad but minimal. Ambience is casual and cozy at this bar/restaurant which is family friendly. Bathroom could have been cleaner but didn't smell bad. Food: 2 of us split the spinach salad and smothered burger; salad was good, burger that was ordered medium came out medium rare. Not a dealbreaker but it also had no seasoning on the burger and too much cheese (and I would normally never complain about too much cheese), making it almost more cheese than burger. We ordered sweet potato fries for the table which came out floppy, greasy and not hot. The other guest in our party had the buffalo chicken pizza and said it was fine. Service: Although it was not busy at 4:00 on a Sunday and there appeared to be plenty of staff, our order took quite a while to come out and our server never checked on us. When she did, it was to ask if we wanted a to-go box for the pizza. We did ask that the fries be taken off our bill because we couldn't eat them and she did that without a problem. I would give them a 2.5 if I could but not 3. I've been going to Slickers for 30 years (sporadically) and it's always been pretty good but there are so many other options in Old Forge now that we probably won't be back. read more

i went get some quick dinner with my family, only for it to take an hour and a half to get our food, and then they messed it up and we had to get more, which took another 45 minutes, and the food wasn't even good! plus-- it was loud the whole time and everyone was crammed in that *feels like* model house. come on-- they really need to up their game! the name should be "Slackers" instead of "Slickers", seriously! read more

If I could give this place a 0 star I would. Waited an hour for the food to come out. During that hour our server did not check on us until the minute before the food came. The food itself was NOT with an hour wait in any way. We then had to wait another 20 minutes for our server to bring and collect our checks. We had split the checks but regretted it instantly because 2/5 of them were incorrect and we were charged for sodas when we only got waters. The place itself looks dirty with flies flying around the entire time. We overheard a server being rude to customers who walked in because they did not know where the hosts stand was. Wow! This place had such great food, the tenders and wings were amazing here!! I swear, they have the best tenders with honey mustard in the STATE!!! The kiddos loved it, and so did the hubby! Our server, Natalie, was great! She was such a sweetheart and was so nice considering how busy it was. I would love to give this place 5 stars, but the young lady who handed us our drinks was very disrespectful and moody. She made a snarky comment and had. rice look on her face. The pizza is terrible and way overpriced. This pizza has thick dough, tasteless sauce and about a quart of oil per slice. Bottom line is that the dough is terrible, it is thick, and wet on the bottom, lukewarm and greasy on top, and the crusts are massive and incredibly dense. (Think dense like a black hole) The service is a joke. The proprietor was actually rude when we ordered four pizzas, saying that ordering four pizzas would F up his kitchen, for the night. He would only agree so sell us three pizzas, which turned out to be a godsend. Just call this place a dirty dive bar, without the bargain prices. read more

We were in Old Forge for the evening and were looking for a new place for dinner. We checked the reviews and it seems like this place was a staple about 3 years ago and before. I'm not sure when that changed, but our experience was interesting to say the least. The seating situation was strange, I get the aesthetic that they are going for but the outdoor seating was totally impractical. Very short, wobbly tables with large Adirondack chairs. It made trying to eat very uncomfortable. There was live music that started shortly after we arrived, it wasn't necessarily bad, but very loud to the point that having a conversation was nearly impossible. The server initially was very nice, but became very pushy to get us to order while we were still looking at the menu. We ordered nachos as an appetizer. They were very soggy, likely due to the fact that rather than having ground beef on them, they were topped with chili (coincidentally the soup of the day that day...). They were not marketed as chili nachos so this was quite a surprise. There were six of us in the party, three of us ordered lobster Mac and cheese (which the reviews raved about), two ordered burgers, and one ordered chicken wings. The lobster Mac and cheese was distinctly Stouffers, the lobster was...not. It was clearly microwaved and then put under a broiler or salamander to brown the top, as there were strange warm and cold spots. The lobster tasted like imitation crab. The burgers were greasy, the lettuce was wilted and the tomato was slimy. The wings were dry and stringy, the blue cheese dressing was just generally off putting. The one bright spot were the fries. Again they seemed prepackaged but they were hot, crispy and seasoned well. What really put the nail in the coffin for me was at the end of the night when I went to the bathroom before closing the check. The inside of the restaurant was hot and grimy. The bathroom door didn't lock, there were obscenities carved and written on the walls, and boogers smeared on the wall. The server was very rude when we asked to split the check, rolling her eyes as she walked away. In retrospect we should have investigated the reviews further. It seems like a sit down restaurant that had an identity crisis and is trying to be a bar, or vice versa. Will not return. read more

First time in Old Forge? Must visit Slickers and eat the peel and eat shrimp along with a bucket drink that comes with a shovel for beach play. We had a little bit of a wait to be seated, about 40 minutes for the busy weekend. They do you the courtesy of a call when your table is ready so you can walk around instead of waiting in line. There was a snafu that made our wait for the P&Es take over an hour but our server took a shot of tequila as requested and the staff that was flying around madly managed to get it all done with smiles. This place would get 5 stars for just their French Dip sandwich, but there were a few things that ruined this place for me. Service was friendly, but SLOW. We ordered mild wings, which came out out a plate pool with a buttery hot sauce mix that really did not stick well to the fried wings. These were very disappointing. I would give these a 1 out of 5. Ordered to go, estimated 25 minutes. When I arrived the food was not ready. No problem, waited another 25 minutes at the bar and when food was finally brought out it was cold. It seems they forgot and it sat in the kitchen area for at least 15 minutes before binging it out. Bar area was packed with one bartender. While I waited, bartender yelled out to someone who looked to be the owner twice to check for food but he would never return. I would assume this is why my food sat getting cold. Poor management understaffing the bar properly costed this business at least 400 in profits that night. read more

Unfortunately, this restaurant is understaffed. 2 salads, fish fry and chicken tenders took almost 2 hours. Our server was either overextended with tables or very new to the industry. Drinks took a very long time (saranac root beer, orange juice, and a sprite). I've been in restaurant business and served for 25 years- I have an abundance of patience in these situations. I only saw 1 bartender and one computer for waitstaff to put in food for a busy restaurant with a wait list. The restaurant itself is not the cleanest. Flys were everywhere, empty tables with leftover food. Not a great experience. I do not recommend this establishment for families with young children- the wait times are a recipe for a meltdown. read more
