Walking into the pub and heading to the back room where the bar is, it was hard not to reminisce of my time spent in Ireland. The restaurant has a vintage Irish pub decor and a friendly atmosphere. The perfect place to go spend time with family and friends. We sat at the bar and our bartender (Sandy) was absolutely fantastic! She was accommodating, humorous, and just made you feel like you were apart of her family. She made a really great Moscow Mule and a tasty version of a Long Island iced tea I've never had before. I've stopped in a few times, and it has only continued to improve! While not from Portsmouth, I graduated from SSU. I also found my husband there at Shawnee, and he is a local; from the infamous Eastend! My in-laws actually live right across the street from Stadium Lunch! It's only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the university! It's always been a long-time favorite for locals. I remember several of my friends' parents from Portsmouth, and my in-laws were going to hang out after work. Have a bite and a few drinks. Now, we are our parents' age then, and the new owners are ready for "us" to start doing this kind of thing again! A fire pit, Edison lights, and great outdoor seating, with a bar top to people watch! We live about an hour away, towards Cincinnati, but are in town a few times a month. At least for a few hours to check in on my husband's Dad and brother. My MIL, unfortunately, passed away last fall. This is when I began to pop into Stadium Lunch more frequently. The propreiters hadn't owned long but were sure to extend their condolences and a small gift at that time. Only knowing them from my FIL stopping into pick up dinner occasionally when my MIL didn't feel like cooking(she was a wonder too!) I am not sure they realize how much this touched our hearts and was incredibly appreciated. I stopped in shortly afterward to extend a thank you in person. I missed them both, but I did have some incredible pot roast, a quick drink, and small talk with some patrons. I brought some home for the whole family after eating! We've had some great burgers and bbq. My FIL sneaks over to get burgers more than we know of! This weekend, we were in for a short trip. Stopped in for a quick drink.
