It was a fast food environment but XL. Their staff very helpful and friendly. You can order at the register or at a kiosk. If you order wine at the kiosk you need to flag an employee to check your id, and they enter a code. So if you are opting for beer or wine, I would suggest just going to the counter. The place was spotless, wasn't too crowded for its location, and so didn't feel like the wait was long. After you order, you have a seat and they bring you the food. Next time I will try a shake.

I almost bailed but saw that only about 2 people were waiting to order at SS and maybe 5 people standing waiting for food so I went up to the kiosk and it was actually pretty efficient and within a few minutes I had ordered. They have a screen telling you which orders are being worked on, and they also let you get a text message as well. Now I know Shake Shack says everything is cooked to order, but essentially its burgers and chicken sandwiches with Fries. That's basically what everyone orders foodwise for the most part. I was no exception. Then I sat down, and waited, and waited, and waited. 25 minutes since ordering, and nothing. The two guys who ordered in front of me were also frustrated, and one guy was trying to convince an employee manager to give him a refund. Now all the time I was ahead of schedule was gone, I was starving and annoyed. Finally I get a text message and walk up. They looked at me like I had two heads until I showed them the text. One guy goes and looks and acts like he had discovered gold and gives me a thumbs up. Is he kidding me? It's fast food and he still doesn't bring the bag over. Finally a very large person walks over, and carries four bags from one counter to the one we were standing in front of. I can see my name clearly on the bag, and even though he tried to stop me, I just pointed to my name and went off to eat. I probably should have just gone to my car and started driving to make up some of the time, but opened the bag and realized this wasn't some grand conspiracy to ruin my trip timing, but more just pure incompetence. Of course, my chicken sandwich which was supposed to come with bacon and avocado, had neither. But there was zero chance I was going back to these people and have me wait another 5-10 minutes. DAYUM this is good chicken! KFC tastes like pure garbage to me now. This is more of a 4.5 stars total. The chicken itself is 5 stars, and I give it that with every awareness. Yeah, I'm willing to bet that you can get better fried chicken from the little places speckled through the city, or if you want to sit down at a nice restaurant... but that's not what Popeyes is meant to be. It goes way above and beyond what is effectively a fast food chain. That is well worth consideration in my book. There's usually a special for 10 or 11 pieces that is the equal price or cheaper than the 8 piece. The 11 piece special ran me about $15-16 for the chicken only. I always get spicy. It's always wicked crunchy, and juicy on the inside... the comfort food that kicked off my weekend and helped sustain me (and clog my arteries) during periods of sedentary studying. You can leave leftover pieces in the fridge for like 2 days, and then pop it in a toaster oven at high heat for a while... it basically re-fries itself to perfection, and it does this better than KFC chicken. Their popcorn shrimp are so-so, but one time I tried their butterfly shrimp ($5 tackle box) when I needed something to munch on while driving out to the boondocks.... they were fantastic. I could eat 50 of those. The batter is a thinner, lighter, creamier type of thing than what you get on the popcorn or the chicken. I end up nibbling the batter off the tail like a fiend who can't get enough. IMPORTANT NOTE: Apparently they fry with peanut oil in some capacity, but I've only heard that through the grapevine. The sides are decent, but it's where they take a hit. They're simply not worth the money in my opinion, unless you specifically want a meal. Portions are generally small on this front, and the quality isn't anything above KFC. I usually just get slaw to have something crunchy and somewhat fresh to go along with the fried. The biscuit is actually on par or better than KFC. Ordering here has always been nice and easy. Service is always friendly, whether walking in or using the drive thru. I usually walk in during the dinner rush, because it feels so pleasant to be in there with the true chicken lovers. I like standing in line with my eyes fixed on the MASSIVE baskets of chicken behind the counter. The drive thru has always served me well during lousy weather, especially when I know I have to bolt out of the city afterwards. Honestly, the location is pretty convenient for me too. I live near Park Ave, and it's pretty quick to bolt up 590 & 104, get off at Portland, and shimmy over to Popeyes. They served me the 3 sprites that were seltzer water(no sprite syrup) I dumped it out and attempted to serve myself sprite but guess what no ice!! I got lemonade and it was warm!! While waiting, this guy, I am assuming a customer that had gone through the drive thru, kept coming in and out of the restaurant. Looking a bit twitchy and huffing and puffing.
