First time at Outlaw Potato Shack. The menu is quite large for a literal shack size establishment. We ordered the outlaw potato with all toppings and chopped brisket. This was our first time coming here after receiving a recommendation to try it. We ordered online and the food was ready for pick up in the stated time frame. You would think that a restaurant who only does take out would have a better presentation in its to go containers. My husband ordered a 2 meat 2 side plate and both his sides were essentially combined, as were his meats. His container was on the top in the oversized bag on top of a container with a potato and then a container with a sandwich at the bottom. Stacked completely out of weight order. His had also leaked all over everything else so it was a mess. The food itself was just OK. The best item was the cow boy baked potato. The side of corn tasted fresh out of a can, not sure how it's "Cajun". The beans (now mixed with corn) had a nice flavor and probably would have been really great by themselves. My husband didn't eat much of his chopped brisket so that must have not been tasty. He did eat all the chicken. My pulled pork sandwich was really lacking on the amount of meat. I ending up eating it open face because there was way too much bread for the tiny smear of pork. My daughter liked the Mac n cheese and she's picky. Went there early Friday eve for the monster potato. Had a very long day and was looking forward to eating this. Sat down to eat while watching program on tv. I was about 1/3 into eating when I looked down and noticed that it was loaded with DEAD MAGGOTS!!! The potato shack was closed by this time and the owner company, Texas Bbq in Spencerport was not answering phone. I called the restaurant again on Saturday and was given a phone number to text a picture to. Later that day, the manager reached out and apologized for the "inconvenience ". Needless to say I was physically and mentally distraught. The manager then offered a refund with no way to obtain same. Sunday I reached out to ask how refund would be issued? I was offered a 30.00 gift card that I could pick up!!! How many people would want to go back to a place that serves MAGGOTS? This was very insulting. A said I'd rather have a refund so they offered to refund 25.00 cash that I could pick up in Spencerport. Not only did the refund go down but I'm supposed to drive an hour to pick up less than what I paid with tax and tip for this horror show. They just lost several customers! read more

The Chili was bland and not flavorful at all but the Bread Pudding was delicious! HOWEVER, when we drove up to the shack there was only one attendant working, and she was taking the trash to the dumpster. A little shack looking joint with good food and friendly service. We decided to try outlaw Potato Shack on a Saturday evening. We pulled up and the server was ready at the window (this is sort of drive thru, but they do have a picnic table outside in case you want to eat right away vs bringing home) we paid $12.00 a piece for the outlaw potato. You can pick what type of BBQ meat you want on top. They were huge!!! Definitely worth $12.00 and not to mention delicious and not greasy like fast food. I would definitely at least trying it once. I really felt like barbecue tonight so decided to order takeout from the outlaw potato on Ridge road which is only 3 minutes from me.. The whole ordering process and the pickup process couldn't have gone any easier. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw, baked beans, and a corn muffin. Overall the food was good. The muffin was great, very tender, moist and full of rich corn flavor. The coleslaw had a lot of flavor and the beans were very tasty, but a bit sweet for my liking. I was disappointed in the sandwich though. First of all I got there five minutes early from when they said it would be ready. When I pulled up they had it all bagged and ready to go. My sandwich in the container was disassembled or had all come apart. No biggie, I can throw the meat back on. The meat was cold and was very skimpy, which surprised me for a bbq restaurant. They usually pile on the meat. It barely covered the lack luster burger style roll. Good thing they gave me extra sauce because without it the meat would have been very dry. I only live 3 minutes away, so the meat wasn't very warm when the sandwich was built. They are so close and convenient, so I may give them another chance, hopefully they learn from this review and do a better job of making a sandwich the next time. read more

I thought the pulled pork was on the sweeter side, which I didn't mind and the pulled chicken was quite moist with a tangy flavor. I arrived 10 min early but the food was pretty much ready. The portion size is huge. Brisket was more minced and slightly dry but had good flavor. It was a little bit sweeter than I personally like. there was a sizable portion on top of the large potato. Oddly, the bacon on the potato for me kind of more competed than complimented the brisket. Cafeteria Style Dinner Meal with a price tag; let me explain ... Decided to order dinner from here for my Father's 60th birthday since it was closer to home than the Spencerport location. We have always had fantastic meals from the Spencerport location so didn't think anything of it. We ordered around 1pm for a pick up at 6:15 knowing the current circumstances of people ordering out... order was ready timely. However, when we got home, the portion sizes weren't anything close to what we normally received from the Spencerport location. The food looked like something I would get at a cafeteria, right down a scoop shaped plop of meat in the styrofoam container. To say I was disappointed is an understatement - the look on my father's face when he opened his to-go box literally broke my heart. Definitely not what I had planned for his 60th birthday. The food was good, but definitely not worth the $40+ that I paid for it. If you get a platter, make sure you order the cattle drive so you can get some protein; if you get the outlaw potato with shredded chicken make sure to order extra meat or you will be pretty disappointed. I wanted SO badly to love this place. Based on other reviews I had been so looking forward to getting here, but always thought of it only after they were closed. I finally had a lunch free in the area and checked it out. I ordered the platter with pork and beef, sides of mashed potatoes and gravy and mac and cheese. The pork was dry, I mean it had a sauce on it so was technically wet, but the meat itself was dry. It was definitely overcooked. The flavor of the pork was quite good to me, but as it was very sweet, I could see this not being to the liking of some. The beef was terrible, in fact I couldn't really taste beef. It was extremely over seasoned and that's about all I could taste. I ate a few bites to try to give it a chance, but threw the rest away as inedible. The mac and cheese had zero flavor. I used the entire salt and pepper packet they gave me trying to liven it up. The mashed potatoes had good flavor, but a gluey texture. The gravy tasted like it was made from a powder, like at KFC. The cornbread ended up being my favorite part of the meal, and really, that wasn't all that special either. It was dry and crumbly, but had a nice corn flavor and was on the sweeter side. Ordering at the drive up window was very convenient and the order was prepared quickly, I liked this concept. Hubby had a platter with various meats and sides, I had an "Outlaw Potato" that was huge, perfectly cooked deliciousness that will last me at least three meals.
