This morning I decided to get breakfast here at BK. I went through the drive-thru. The man name Jose helped me. He mentioned to do my best in parking on the side and make sure the cars can drive past me. There was a big truck behind me. A very old man and a new big blue truck. I think he was nervous to drive past me. So I re park again to make sure that guy feels comfortable driving past me. Jose apologies to me. We spoke for a bit. I told him this got nothing to do with him. He is working. They put the tesla charging station there so it makes it harder for the costumer to park and wait for their food at the drive-thru. He mentioned he sometimes get angry costumers. I mean it isnt the employee doing so dont take it out on them. It is whoever decided to make a plan to put the tesla stations there. Came in To this Burger King location for a quick breakfast bite to eat. Ordered a egg cheese croissant sandwich. It came out with a scorched egg. I used some black pepper to hide the scorch flavor. Otherwise the people that work in the restaurant are okay . Restaurant was clean and well taken care of. Tables were clean. Bathrooms were clean. Since this is a Burger King, expect to find crowns out and available. And you will find your crown here at this Burger King location. Easy parking In the on-site lot. Easy to find this location. But to enter this Burger King you will have to be going northbound on El Camino. There is no left hand turn entrance into this Burger King lot for people who are going southbound If you are driving an electric vehicle and want a quick charge, there are multiple Tesla chargers at this Burger King location. Overall, the experience wasn't completely terrible. But make sure you check your food before you take it away from the counter in order to ensure the best food quality. read more

Never use the app and select the drive through option. I was subjected to 'please pull forward and we'll bring it out to you' - only to realize that there wasn't a spot for me to park, rather it was a straight away to the street. It was an unreal situation, with people getting out and yelling at me - all the while, there was literally no where for me to go, unless I was willing to drive on the wrong side of the road to get to the parking lot. I wish I would have read reviews before I stopped at this location. My order was simple. I ordered from the drive thru , two tacos , one bacon with Swiss cheese grilled chicken sandwich combo. I was told I would have to wait Four minutes for the chicken sandwich. I said no problem so they had me pull forward in the drive-through which I was still in the way blocking other folks because the drive-through is not big enough for anyone to pass. I waited longer than four minutes just to receive the wrong chicken sandwich the receipt clearly said grilled, but they gave me a breaded chicken sandwich. I was too far to turn around. I just cannot understand after making me wait as long as I did they still got the order wrong. I also feel bad for the people behind me who had to wait because I could not go out of the driveway because it takes you onto the busy El Camino St.. after reading through the reviews I noticed this Burger King has multiple occasions of getting folks orders wrong. This is Burger King on the Main Drag of San Mateo--El Camino Real. It's not the easiest to find or get into, but it's worth the effort. The best way to enter this Burger King is to be going north on El Camino. Parking may be a bit of problem as all the front slots are for Tesla electric cars. If you have a Tesla, then here's a good spot to charge up. There is a drive-through, and unfortunately, if you eat in, the drive-through window is annoying as you hear each new arrival being greeted by automated counter clerk. The inside counter clerk, on the other hand, is very pleasant and helpful. It had been a few years since I had eaten at a Burger King (oh, and if you are like me, you will be SHOCKED by the prices of fast food, but that's the way of the world now) and the the counter clerk was helpful, patient, and very quick. There were five people on our one order, all with different requests, and they were all met with a smile and filled correctly. Our wait for our order was under 10 minutes; the food was hot and fresh, and we were pleased. Here is another drawback to this location, the bathrooms are kept locked. I am assuming due to the homeless population in downtown San Mateo. To me that is shameful, but I guess it's what you do when you're in business. read more

The inside remodel is nice. Clean, spacious and a little bare. The food is what you would expect from any BK you walk in to. The only thing I dislike is the location. Getting out of the parking lot during peak commute can be challenging. Seems like the franchise is only interested in Tesla charging stations, not burgers and fries. read more

I would give Burger King "0" stars if I could. Burger King advertises a "Meal Deal" special. My husband called to confirm that this location offered it. He was told "Yes" but cost $5.99 not $4.99. After standing in a long line, he asked for the special. He was told that they didn't offer it. He spoke to the manager, who said the employee must not have understood his question. Maybe if they don't speak English they should consult with another employee who does. Anyway, they ended up honoring the special. My husband got it for me. I felt sick after eating it. They have an AI order taking machine that is slow and gets the information wrong. When the machine does not understand a customer the process just stops until a human can intervene. Prices are very high compared to other fast food outlets even though their labor costs must be low with the level of automation. I stopped by one evening on Friday. Only the drive through was open, but I had planned on utilizing that anyways haha. I have to say that I did not anticipate the extremely long wait time. I feel really bad for the staff then, I imagined they were understaffed and that's what caused the long wait times. We saw quite a bit of cars give up and just leave. It took probably like 20-30 minutes in that line. You could tell that people were so happy to make it to the order intercom since they were shouting their orders! I said nothing. I sat back there for almost 10 minutes no response after I tried to prder twice. so I pulled forward. don't think the gentleman behind me or the one behind him ordered yet either. I could tell she was mad, but she didn't say anything, just rudely proceeded to take my order, meanwhile I was just polite as I could tell that the entitlement was real. Whatever happened to fast food being one of those stepping stones where highschool kids worked to gain real life work experience and developed good work ethics? Lady was well into her late 20's early 30's. Making a "career" shouldn't mean creating a horrible experience with customers who choose to come to your establishment to spend their hard earned money. I'm usually the most kind of patient person, but when 5-6 different employees make eye contact, proceed to do absolutely nothing but stand there watching 1 person work, then have this attitude that the customer should apologize for trying several times to make contact at the loud speaker, zero response, and I know she heard it through her headset the whole time, as well as 4 other headsets I seen in there looking through the window back at me. Located right on the El Camino Real just up the road from Hillsdale Shopping Center, this Burger King is a standalone restaurant which means you can easily get a table as this place is spacious. Ordering from the counter is easy enough, but the self-serve soda fountains always seem to be in disrepair here. Want a Diet Coke? You may wind up getting straight soda water instead. :-/ The ice machines work well, however. It's probably better to order via the Drive-Thru here and take your food home with you. read more

The food is fine, but the service is a problem. I usually order ahead on the app only to show up at the designated pick up time to wait...and wait. You have to check your order before you leave too because they will often miss things in your order. Incredibly, I was missing both a drink and a burger today. I told the guy who handed me my order. He checked the receipt and gave me another drink cup. When I mentioned I was missing a burger again, the guy was trying to tell me the order was right. I pointed out that on the receipt, that there should be three burgers in my order and then another guy who I presume was the manager came over and told me to calm down. He took my order back to the prep area, checked the receipt and then put the missing burger in my order and handed it to me. No apology. PLEASE READ!! Friday my mother and I being two women decided to go through the drive thru. When we were entering the burger king my mother noticed the MANAGER sitting in his car obviously not worried about what he is getting payed for. Whatever we didn't think much of it until we got to the window and that's when my mother informed me the manager was taking pictures of her car. I was extremely confused on why the manger had the guts to take pictures of a woman's car but not enough guts to get confronted by me. When we asked the worker at the window, he tried coming off as it was "normal behavior" from the manager and couldn't give us ANY valid reason on why the CREEP manager felt the need to take photos of women minding their business in a drive thru. I hadn't been to a BK in years, but there was a T-Mobile free Whopper deal that got hubby and I to download the app...which then resulted in us seeing the $7 deal for a Whopper plus Impossible Burger combo so we ended up having 2 Whoppers, an Impossible Whopper, and fries ($1) for dinner. Now I know that defeats the purpose of having the Impossible Burger because the idea is to get people to replace the Whopper that they would eat with an Impossible Whopper, thereby reducing the consumption of beef. But how else would we do a taste test? BK runs a lot of deals through their app and through the mail that make eating there pretty affordable. We decided to eat in so we could have our burgers as "fresh" as possible. The location itself is clean enough to eat in although could be better lit. The food is about average for a BK, not worse or better than other BK's I can remember, but I haven't been to a BK in a while because their food is just so average. As for the Impossible Whopper vs Whopper taste test: the Whopper still hits the spot more with the beef picking up more of that flame grilled flavor and the Impossible patty having that slightly bean-y taste I associate with veggie patties. However, both burgers had so (too) much mayo and ketchup that the difference in the flavor of the patties was diminished. If I were in the mood for a Whopper, I wouldn't mind having the possible Whopper instead... if it wasn't too much more expensive. So yea, a BK that has average food with average cleanliness would usually get 3 stars from me. I wouldn't mind coming here if other people suggested it, but I wouldn't come of my own volition. I docked an extra star because the staff isn't the most efficient. The pick up process was a bit of a pain, we had to ask for water twice, and they left off the pickles in 2 of our sandwiches (actually, they marked no pickles on the wrapper even though our order didn't say no pickles). Not related to this location and not reflected in my rating for this place is now bad the app is. Taco Bell and Panda Express both have significantly better apps. read more
