The hamburger bun was fresh, as well as the ingredients, they don't skimp on the beef patty either:) Fries are nice and crispy, and they give you plenty. I ordered a Butterscotch Malt, every sip was a step back in time to the GOOD OLD DAYS, and it was DELICIOUS! I ordered a large, so be careful what you wish for, cause it took was HUGE! By far, one of the places that you don't wanna miss when you're going up or down Highway 101 in Hopland. The food is impeccable the fries they come out and they're hard and crisp and golden. They're not soft and mushy like some other places. I had the chili burger, which was amazing And my friend had the pastrami sandwich with also was amazing. is burger places near here forever and never ,ever does it fail to impress. Stopped here once in a while over the years, as I usually stop in town but both my other choices were closed and needed some food. Old school walk up window service, place your order pay and wait for them to call you. Ordered a cheeseburger and fries with a drink. The old man running the window is a tough old bird, not very friendly maybe even rude to some? but was professional and to the point with me. My burger was ready in under ten minutes, the bun a good seasame seed top, but the burger itself was just okay - not sure what it was, the cook was off? it was bland to almost flat tasting, it was kind of boring? We were really pleased to find this gem driving though wine country. Lots more options that your typical burger joint. All different kinds of sides to choose from. We had curly fries and they were hot and tasty! Burgers were HUGE, all around a great deal. Service was fast, despite it being the lunch rush. I think they are used to being busy. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the food. We just scooped up this guy from the shelter and I was a little obsessed with how happy he was to be coming home. We didn't know what the hell he was on about, because we had definitely seen the place a zillion times. The food is amazing with huge portions that last me a few meals and the chocolate shakes are to die for especially because they use real chocolate icecream. I've been comming here for over 30 years and anytime I'm in the area I try and stop on my way to my destination and home to petaluma. If I could afford the gas I would drive up just for the food and nice owners. While driving from our worksites in Lakeport to Mendocino, my naviguesser runs me through Hopland, Ca. I see a gas station and a burger joint behind it - old school style. Unfortunately, I learned my first time there I arrived a few minutes after they closed. A week later I get there during normal business hours. Enjoyed a cheese burger and a butterscotch milk shake. I was pleasantly surprised when I grabbed the milk shake and it was heavy - real ice cream and weighed over a pound!!! The burger came with a side and I choose a salad. The bun is great, the ingredients used to build this burger were what you'd expect from an old skool shop and are super fresh and plentiful. My second visit, I hate to admit it but, I got the exact same thing and enjoyed it as much as the first time. This will be my go-to spot during my western route to our worksites. BE CAREFUL Swung by here in June after a camping trip. We'd been here before (over 5 years ago) and enjoyed it very much. The prices are very steep for a roadside burger joint. In fact, it was so expensive, my wife & I were charged $493.02 for two burgers & two beers. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and consider that it was a mistake. However, this was very possibly a scam -- thinking that folks in an expensive RV don't review credit card statements. I contacted them and they say that they will refund the difference . . . we'll see what happens. There was no offer of additional money or food for our trouble... they might have gotten a different rating and I might not have felt the need for this post. If you are going here, I suggest you use cash and NO credit card. Expect to pay approx. $20 to $25 per adult (not $250 per adult). We arrived at around 12:30 on a Sunday and were one of only two parties there the entire time we were there. Perhaps they have developed a reputation that keeps people away. If we actually get our refund, we'll consider dining here again, but NOT with a credit card, understandably. Oh . . . the food was very good, but all the other crap was VERY disappointing and negated the good food experience. read more

Great spot to stop on a road trip!! Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Bathroom was fairly clean. The food was solid! Didn't get a chance to try one of their milkshakes, but they looked pretty good. The onion rings were a big portion and breaded just right. Just avoid the store at the gas station next to this place at all costs unless you want to be needlessly harassed by the abusive employee there who will yell at you just for asking questions. This is an old fashioned, right off the street, dumpy drive-in kinda place. No pretense. Pet friendly (just what we needed) with a covered outdoor dining area and indoor dining, too. Mr B ordered a Deluxe burger - this means it is piled high with lettuce, tomato, cheese, mushrooms, good salty bacon, and avocado. Me? I ordered a mushroom burger. Cooked to order, it was juicy, good tasting. But I get grumpy when there are canned mushrooms. That is what they tasted like. The gourmet onion rings sounded great, and they were! Hand breaded. $5.49. The fries, equally good. My complaints, other than the mushrooms: They only serve Pepsi products. At least they offer free soda with any entree. The hamburger buns were way too thick and dry. Needed to peel most of that away and left a good 2/3rds on my plate. Mr. B's strawberry shake tasted partially artificial flavoring with a few chunks of real strawberries. Audaciously pink in color. Meh. This is a great place to get a quick eat. Large variety of foods, but as a cheeseburger kind of guy I tend to bite the bun more than the taco, which they have as well. Personal tip: get the double patty burger.. I love this place, but their buns are rather thick. To obtain the perfect ratio of meat to bun... double is the only way to go. That aside, their cheeseburger is fantastic! Everything is super fresh, with the perfect amount of flavor packed in.
