This is a coolnpla e to eat and the service is great. The food came out twice as fast as I thought it was going to. Then the food. I wish it was a little better. Coleslaw needs more sauce. We sat outside as we had our Golden Retriever with us. Quite comfortable and service was great. Burgers were tasty too. Buns are soft and fresh. Burgers are ample in size and charred nicely. Great condiments depending on which one you choose. Steak fries are hefty, crispy and well seasoned. Their tasty potato salad is homemade. The dog even got a burger patty served on a plate no less. We pulled over on our road trip just to use the restroom and followed the smell of good food straight here So glad we did! The mac and cheese was amazing, and the garlic brisket sandwich was absolutely delicious. Would stop again in a heartbeat! Excited to finally eat here since they were closed last time we tried - but was honestly hoping it would be worthy of more stars. Gave it 3 last time without eating, and the needle didn't move post food. Still 3 stars... Customer service: Came in a little after 7 (they close at 8) but got the immediate vibe the server wanted us to get 'to go' rather than have a seat (I get it, I worked at a restaurant and hated people that came in last minute, but it was an hour to close- plenty of time). Cloverdale is hot and it was maybe 10 degrees cooler inside than out which, even at 7pm, was far too hot in august to eat. Menu: Lots of options for just about everyone which is always a plus. One of their burgers apparently has one some awards which is a cool claim to fame. They were out of ribs (and onion rings) which seemed odd for a bbq joint touting such a large bbq sign out front. The Yelp menu needs updating, particularly the prices as each burger was more expensive than planned. I know this place has an older style which I appreciate, but It's 2022 and card is king... aka the credit card surcharge felt petty. Overall: Ultimately this little burger dive on the hill is a bit overpriced and unfortunately overrated. A good spot in a pinch (if you can get there more than an hour before closing lol) but honestly they have significant competiton down the street in downtown Cloverdale. I love bbq and want to give a better score in the future, so hoping this may be an off day and that next time (yes there will be a next time eventually) I hope my experience is improved and in line with those who raved about this spot and encouraged me to check it out read more

9/27/23 Wednesday 1:30 stopped in for a quick lunch while in our way from point arena to Newark. Our service was sweet. The place was pretty much empty. We asked for recommendation and she said smoked chicken thighs. So we did with sweet potato fries and a small salad. The salad was cold and crisp and the ranch was pretty standard. The sweet potato fries were so good. The smoked chicken with their spicy bbq sauce provided on the table was very good. The chicken had a good smoked flavor only complaint was it was not hot and skin was rubbery so had been sitting in kitchen a while. Really wanted to order dessert that was featured on dry erase board but server said they didn't serve any of the other desserts listed besides the butterscotch. Okay?! So why the posted pies?! Everything was cooked perfectly. I had one of the specials of the day. A thousand island burger with sautéed onions and melted Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles. My son enjoyed their standard cheese burger. Good sized burgers and portions for reasonable prices. Clean establishment with cute decor. Red gingham curtains and beautiful wood walls. Attended WELCOME HOME Fundraiser yesterday and had a wonderful first time at Hamburger Ranch! Best bbq I have ever had by far, no exaggeration! We met for a late lunch, the wait staff was prompt and friendly and knowledgeable. The hamburgers were delicious and filling!! The pulled pork was yummy, the baked beans were good, but had a different flair - they were smaller white beans. The sautéed veggies were ok, but mainly onions and a few mushrooms. We've been coming here for a very long time. 21 years, back to when you could sit out front where the old gas pumps used to be. I mean we came here up to once every other week some years. Currently, we haven't been here since the pandemic started. We ordered our favorite burgers and fries last week and the meat was dry and way overdone especially on the edges. The dipping fries weren't hot or crispy or soft inside like they used to be, just blah. Figured I'd give em a second chance and try again today with another old favorite (two item meat plate with two sides) and when I went to pay for it I almost fell over. It was $10 more than what was on the yelp order menu! $26 (before tax) instead of $16! Yes I know everything has gone up but number one, not this much and number two, then post the new prices somewhere. This is the only place to see the menu. They no longer have a website. For a website all you need is a $10 to $25 domain name (per year) and a picture of your menu. You do not have to be fancy. If they can't update/keep up a website then they need to make sure their prices are correct on yelp. So the meat was at least ok but the smallest thighs I have EVER seen. I love love love cole slaw and this was bland soggy and no flavor. Onion rings were definitely nothing to write home about but could've been worse. I have posted pictures of my receipt, the prices on yelp and the new menu prices. I can see over five years ago my review was five stars. In keeping to a theme, I try to get a quick meal before the High School Football games, this week was no exception. We ventured to the World Famous Hamburger Ranch, I hadn't been in many years, but my past experiences were . I really hate posting negative reviews, but the experience from yesterday all the old good memories. Well to begin with, one of our party left to sit in the truck right after ordering. The we read the reviews and they said the burgers were better than Jenny's... nope . It was $4.00 for cheese and the kids was the same size as the adult. The pulled pork and ribs were bereft of any flavor, at least the Red and Rice were the right color...‍. The #service was spotty to be kind, we even sent a 10 year old up to see if that would help. Our thought was who can resist a kid right? Wrong. It was like pulling teeth to get to-go boxes, #ketchup, mustard or pretty much anything. What we can say is the brisket was an acceptable flavor and tender, the #ranchdressing awesome and the #onionringsrings really good. It's probably better I wrote it today as my dissatisfaction hasn't diminished and my vocabulary has improved . I've been going here for years. The service is always wonderful and the staff friendly. Today I ordered the brisket platter. It was awful. Brisket shouldn't be a yellow/gray color and chewy. I'm pretty sure it was cooked a day before and then reheated(microwave). It most certainly was not carved fresh in the kitchen before serving. read more

When a hamburger is $18, I expect it to be a heck of a burger. And this has been our go-to place on road trips for years. Something to look forward to. The burgers now are... average. Not a ton of flavor, no char on the meat. The bacon burger had one small piece of bacon on it. At least the wedge fries were pretty good. But this is not worth the price. read more

If you LOVE reheated BBQ meat from the previous day, that's poorly reheated and served lukewarm then this is the place for you. Truly terrible brisket (chewy and old tasting). What happened to this great restaurant that was worth driving 40 min to for a meal? Ate breakfast today and it wasn't good. I haven't been here in years and I'm not going back any time soon. Place was empty which should have warned me when a restaurant serving breakfast isn't packed during breakfast hours. Omelet was small considering the menu said it was made with 3 eggs. Ingredients were diced really small and didn't fill the insides. Swiss cheese tasted like imitation and had a plastic feel so had to scrape it off. Red potatoes were boring and over cooked. Home made salsa had no taste and was too thick. Had just shy of a paste consistency. I'm sad that the toast was the best part of the meal. Fun seeing how long it would take my server to remove it from the toaster. She was standing next it filling jelly and forgot about it. After a few good minutes I asked for the toast. This BBQ place is a couple miles from my house. And we go here every chance we get! We went in a couple weeks ago for breakfast- it was a nice Sunday morning, there were people in there and there always is when we go. We got the pulled pork breakfast burrito! My boyfriend and I split it because it is good portion. The meat is so freshly cooked and not dried out, potatoes and eggs are perfect. You NEED to try their BBQ sauces with it! The coffee there is very good, I am not usually a coffee person but theirs has very good flavor. Also, The brisket meal is so good- when I want my fix I go here! We stopped in Sunday at 1:30 and the parking lot was nearly empty. It's rare to see, so we decided to go ahead and have lunch. The specials included the Black & Blue Burger, so I had that with their fries. Yummy, crispy, seasoned wedge fries were fantastic paired with the huge burger. Juicy and cooked to perfection, I was thankful to find the Black and Blue here. It was tough to decide on it or the brisket. I'll have to make another Sunday drive over for lunch to try it. Plenty of seating, loads of parking areas and up the roadside is good if you're pulling a trailer. No excuse to not stop! read more

I give 5 stars because I don't want to be cruel but. There it is again. Sorry. The food at this place sucks. A local sent me here when I told him I was going to go to Zinis for breakfast the next morning. He said that Zinis isn't any good since the new owners bought it out but...Sorry. There it is again, but, he then proceeded to tell a few stories of the old owner. Didn't know him but I do hope he actually did clean up the mess of the egg on the wall after he threw it. Anyhow, Zinis aside. This place doesn't know how an omelet is executed. First off, omelets do NOT start with a slice of plastic cheese on the plate topped with ham and mushrooms and then finally topped with a weird tortilla shaped egg then topped with another slice of white cheese. I don't know much about cheese but what I do know is that swiss cheese has holes. Just because a cheese is white doesn't mean you can call it swiss. It was so bizarre lifting a torilla shaped egg to see the toppings underneath. Pro-tip for the cook. It might be okay to do it like this but at least start with the egg on the plate then top it with the toppings. So bizarre. I didn't want to look under the egg as the top of the egg was brown so I knew it wouldn't be good. No surprise. The underside was brown. I will say I do have appreciation for sunny side up eggs with crispy edges but unfortunately scrambled eggs won't pull off that technique. I've over it. The only reason I am giving 5 stars is because I really wasn't hungry or I would be pissed. It was worth 5 stars for me because number 1, I didn't pay for it. Number 2, I wasn't really hungry anyhow so it was okay. And 3 because I was in the mood to embrace the suck. I honestly feel that once you learn to embrace the suck you can really make anything good. No. They didn't beat me. I actually somehow won in this because it was fun having the meal get worse and worse with each different piece of it. Hilarious that the hot chocolate had a lump of chocolate at the bottom. They almost had me with the piece of butter wrapper that somehow ended up on my toast. I didn't even see it. I was going in for a bite of my toast and something fell off. It was totally unexpected. It ended up being what looked like a quite large piece of a butter wrapper? It fell off before it could get in my mouth so I'm not mad. It only added to the appeal. Like I said, I don't want to be cruel. The place has potential. I think they need to embrace the suck like I did and hire some waitresses that will abuse you and slam the food on the table. That would be the only way to rescue this place. I would go again. BUT....only if the wait staff with tell me off and I can watch them tell others off. There's a place like that somewhere. I think they need to copy it. Not being mean. That's my advice. read more

Chicken was dry no bbq sauce on them just seasoning was dry tasted old like dayold,same with bread coleslaw was nasty tasting soggy. I threw it all away. Should have checked before i bought!! The biggest sign on the building just says "BBQ" and I hoped I was at the right place. The real sign was probably somewhere really obvious but I was hungry and eating there. Terrible service, refused to serve us. Turned us away because the young woman clearly wanted to leave early. She told us they were closing an hour early and we could only get to go, but she clearly didn't want to take our order at all. I had a toddler and baby in my arms and we were starving on our way home from a trip. There were still many other families outside eating. We went out of our way to stop here because my husband and I had past memories of this place. I asked about to go as we were starving, and having a drink while we wait, she said no to a drink and never gave me a menu, in fact she told me of a restaurant up the road in town and suggested we try there instead. I could tell it was a lost cause so we left. It was really strange and pretty upsetting. A truck full of teenagers/ young people pulled up when we left and they were clearly her friends, I saw her greet them with energy she did not have for us and invite them in to come and hang out. we watched them all go inside and stay. I don't often leave reviews but I hope the owner sees this. The young woman you have working there is turning away families long before you close. Horrible food! The meat tastes like it was boiled in water and then reheated in the microwave. Never have I ever had such DRY under seasoned meat. The potato salad had some al dente potatoes and some mushy ones so it was equally as horrible as the rest of the food.
