After his Occupational Therapy evaluation at Kaiser he was denied therapy because he was "delayed, but not delayed enough." Knowing that my son could really benefit from OT therapy, I contacted the Alta Regional Center who referred my son to Monica at Little Bird Courage Company for an evaluation. She came to our home this past Tuesday and was with us for over 2 hours. She is extremely knowledgable and worked very well with my son. He was tired and fussy and she gave him all of the time he needed. She also took the time to explain a lot of things about our son that we did not know, like why he did certain things and how we can help him modify negative behaviors. I really appreciate the time she took to explain my son's behaviors to us because in all of the evaluations he has had no one ever tried to help us gain a better understanding of my son's ASD and Monica did.

The therapists we've had have all been good, there have just been several changes with my son's assigned therapists which can be difficult for little ones. I think this has to do with the time of year we came in, with several people working just for the summer and leaving in July/August due to their training programs ending or school year based jobs picking up again. So totally understandable, but still more change than ideal for kiddos who really yearn for structure, routine, familiarity, etc.

They are both fabulous. I have seen a huge improvement in my sons speech as well as his confidence. They make speech therapy fun. Both therapists we have take their time and have adapted to my sons specific needs. They call me with a weekly reminder which as a busy mom of four I appreciate. They have always worked with our schedule when we have needed to adjust. I bring my toddler along with me and I appreciate the books, toys, coloring pages they have in the lobby while we wait. Also his favorite stickers. It is a nice office complex that we often walk around while we wait.

They understand there is a need to get out of bed and try every day to improve or at least continue to be functional at the level they have attained. Physical therapy helps keep the mind to be more alert and able to process and communicate more effectively. It helps prevents infections and bed sores by not remaining in bed for hours at a time with no movement.
