This burger was huge! I got the cowboy burger which had bbq sauce and cheese. It was really good honestly. And I was not able to finish it in one sitting. Where to start? Sorry, this might be a bit lengthy about our last experience last night. My wife called so we could do takeout. When the young woman answered the phone my wife was told to wait and the phone was just laid on the counter. After 8 1/2 minutes we decided to just go in and eat there. We walked up to the counter and the blond girl just stared at my wife without greeting or anything. After we ordered we sat in a booth next to another family. After we had been there a while a young lady joined the family next to us and the father went and ordered what she wanted. A bit after we got our food the young lady at the next booth got her food and the father asked about the other 4 of them and the blond working said she will bring it. After a while, she came back and said there wasn't an order for them. The father showed his receipt and she was acting like she didn't believe him but said she would go put the order in. When she came back she indicated that she still couldn't find the order and hadn't put the replacement in yet because she couldn't find the original order but said she would put it in now but their order would be in to-go boxes because they were only doing takeout at this time. The father said "No" and she was condescending and said "YES". He said he wanted a refund and wanted to speak to a manager. They did not provide a manager but another employee and they had no interest in trying to make it right for this family. After the family left the blond said quite loudly "Well, their night is ruined but that isn't my problem". She almost seemed amused by the fact. At no time did the father of the family ever raise his voice or get belligerent. This young woman has no business in the service industry or customer service. We have always enjoyed Burger Time Machine but if this is indicative of their attitude I will be sure to warn others. read more

This was my first time back in several years. My husband, the burger fan, had never tried them and wanted to check it out. There are several other local places I'm loyal to, but I was game for giving them another shot. They have definitely made some changes since my last visit, looks like the place underwent a décor change and a deep cleaning on the inside. The outside still has that older run down feel, but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked through the door. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. I was so glad it was quiet because I was being that indecisive customer at the counter and would have panicked if someone was behind me in line. The guys there were very patient with me, answered questions and humored me. Peanut butter? Wait, peanut butter with BBQ sauce? Pineapple? Gosh, my curiosity got the better of me, but in the end I went the boring route- womp, womp. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, 6 for $5.99. My husband chose the build your own option, instead of any of the fancier choices for $5.99 and I went with a Galaxy burger ($4.99) but added bacon ($1.50). Each of us made it a combo with fries and a fountain drink for $2.99. I used the yelp check in offer of 10% off and the total was $24. While waiting on the food, I took a look around. I think they have done something different with their windows since my last visit, as it was much brighter in there than I could remember. They also are using checker table cloths and have the fun movie poster theme going on. Besides all the Star Wars memorabilia, there are framed posters of The Wizard of Oz, Back to the Future, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures, Hot Tub Time Machine, etc. Ohhh, time travelling movies... Burger Time Machine...haha, got it! Kidding aside, this made for a fun theme and they have a pool table and arcade games including my girl, Ms Pacman! This place has a lot of seating and would be good for groups. I spied some birthday balloons bobbing up and down behind the bar so I am guessing someone was going to have a small party at one of the longer tables later on. The only weird part of the setup is that the restrooms are split up. The women's room is in the back left corner but the men's room is down this hallway that looks like it would be staff only, if there wasn't a small blue sign. The frozen mozzarella sticks were okay, but I wouldn't order them again. The price was high for the quality. These were more suited to the perfect snack after you've been out having drinks, not on a Sunday afternoon when you have standards, lol. The burgers on the other hand had a nice char on the outside and the bacon was crispy in the most awesome way. I also liked the bun is toasted on the grill, always a treat to me. My husband got the 1/2 lb and that was a really big portion, so I feel that was worth the price and he enjoyed it. In addition to large portions, they don't skimp on the toppings at all, I had lots of lettuce and I think they put on 5 pickles. The fries looked pretty good and were crispy, maybe a little over seasoned, but I can be picky about that kind of thing, and I would prefer that to no seasoning. They also didn't taste as salty when dipped in the ketchup. Overall, pretty good fries and a decent burger! Anything I would change? Since my burger was 1/4 lb burger, it would be better to use a smaller bun. Fries will appeal to most, but I'll try the tots next time. The prices struck me as high at first, and I would want to bring down the prices, but in truth I am on the fence about this one. I mean $1.50 for bacon IS high, but the bacon was great. Otherwise though, I'm thinking they are actually in line with what we should expect from a local place in a college town. We got regular burgers and made it a combo for $2.99. $2.99 for fries and a drink is actually really good as most sit down places charge $2.30-$2.80 for just a drink. This puts the meal at around $9 each. That's about $1 or so over fast food places and about $2 under the gourmet burger places for a basic burger. It's definitely in between these two options, so in between prices seem fair, especially since this is what burgers seem to cost now, everywhere. Do I like that? No! Is it solely the fault of this restaurant? No! Now, do I want to spend an extra $2-3 on a specialty burger? Certainly not! However, I haven't tried any of their crazy toppings, so I can't really say it is or is not worth the additional cost. I'm certainly curious to try other flavor combinations (didn't see bulgogi until after I ordered), but I wasn't $2-3 curious today. It's a fun themed, laid back place to get a burger (potentially really fun and crazy burger) and some greasy appetizers that would hit the spot when hanging out late at night. Good toasted buns, charred burgers, and generous on the toppings. My husband thought the food was 4 stars. For my picky taste I thought the food was 3 1/2 stars but the great service made it a 4 star experience for me. read more

Food:4/5 Customer Service: 0/5 My brother suggested this place for dinner tonight as he has been a regular and has raves about their burgers. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich (added guacamole) while the rest of the family ordered from the 1/2 Lb burger menu. The first concern was that my food didn't come out 5-10 minutes after everyone else's. They were more than halfway done eating by the time I got my plate. Not a huge issue, I understand chicken has to be cooked right. I didn't have any issue with the taste of any of my food, it was hot, fresh and actually tasted great. The problem was the size of the chicken "patty" that came on my sandwich (see picture). After taking 4 bites I realized the other side of my sandwich as quite thin so I opened it up to see that more than half the sandwich didn't have any chicken on it. I am not someone to complain, but my brother encouraged me to say something. I went to the sweet girl at the counter to address my concern. She didn't provide me any resolution but said she would grab the manager so she could address it. This is the main reason I'm leaving a 1/5 star review: I returned to my seat to wait for the manager. I didn't touch my sandwich because I wanted to be able to show her. My family finished their food and we waited for another 10 minutes (about 20 in total) waiting for this "manager." I went up to the counter again to get a to-go box for my mom and mentioned to the girl at the counter that the manager had still not come out. Her response was that they were backed up on To-Go orders and the manager would not be able to come out to address my issue. I asked her about the chicken and her response was that the bun was just really big and that's why there wasn't chicken on more than half my sandwich. By this time my food was cold. I couldn't believe the manager wouldn't come out for a few minute to address a customer's issue. It's 8:48 on a Friday. My son and I walk in for a late dinner, but he's excited. He's waited a year to come here. It's just never worked out. Today was going to be the day. Nope. We walk in to a busy restaurant, mainly a large table happily eating. Four or five people playing pool. Guy behind the counter says "sorry we've been slammed all day so we closed early." They are supposed to close at 10. But he's closing up because the store did too well today. As I write this I'm in the parking lot and I see the same guy bringing food out to people. The food is legit good, maybe even better than good. It's great. I simply cannot understand having such a good day business wise you'd close early. It's nonsense. Burgers were decent. But had very little sauce on them. I ordered a male your own with Korean bbq sauce. Friend had the A1 sauce burger that had the same issue. Main issue was cleanliness. Tables were all dirty so we had to clean one off. The restroom wasn't just dirty but unsanitary. Urine int the floors and wall and other things I won't go into. It's not worth it. I am pretty disappointed in my experience after reading all the reviews. This place has the potential to be a great, fun burger joint but it is not in that situation at the moment. The place could really use a make-over. It was not dirty or sticky like I was expecting based on reviews, but rather it was just old and beat-up. It really needs to be on that restaurant makeover show with the buff British guy. It could be awesome with a freshened interior and just better overall layout. Then there's the food. The food was disappointing. It's on par with fast food burger places, which I think is ok, but since this place is much more expensive I have to be more critical. My order was $28 for a "1/2lb" burger, a 1/4lb burger, sweet potato fries, onion rings, and two fountain drinks. Man. The 1/2lb Time Machine burger. Blue cheese instead of American. The good thing was that it had a lot of lettuce, which I like. The onions were good. The mushrooms might have been from a can. The grilled jalapenos were from a can. The patty was disappointingly small for a 1/2lb. I requested the patty cooked medium and it was served well-done. I could not taste any seasoning on the patty at all. The bun was way too soft and sweet and was just served straight from the bag with no grilling or toasting so it quickly became soggy and pressed into a mush. The 1/4lb Galaxy Burger with added pineapple. It's odd because the bun is the same size of the larger burgers so you just get inadequate meat coverage from the smaller patty. The pineapple (+$1) was some chunks of canned pineapple and not the grilled pineapple ring that I imagined when I made the order. The onion rings were disappointing. There was ZERO seasoning, not even one grain of salt. They were extremely greasy. The batter was super thick, soft, saturated, and almost sweet. It was EXACTLY like the tempura batter you get on cheap buffet sweet and sour chicken. The sweet potato fries were pretty good but once again they needed salt. Not even one grain of salt was on them. It's like they were from a plastic frozen bag, straight into a fryer, then into the serving basket. Overall, this place is decent but not worth the price. The restaurant could be cool given a make-over and the food needs a bit more refinement. read more

Burgers here are big. No not just big. They are huge! Of course, size is not everything, but that seems to be what they are championing here... and the burgers are good enough that you just kinda keep on chomping until the last meaty, jalapeno flavored bite. Of course, by then, you're so stuffed that you bypass the fries and slip off into a food induced coma. PS. the place looks a bit run down and the food can take extremely long to appear from the kitchen, but its a solid option for burgers on that side of town. read more

Galaxy burger was good but as hungry as I was, could have chosen a double. The patties, plain bun, condiments are very similar to a Sonic cheeseburger, but with a bit more flavor. The onion rings were homemade, but I'll pass next time. Tastes like funnel cake batter, so a bit too sweet and no salt savory crispness. Tasted more like donuts to me. Service was polite and speedy. I think Heather L. and PK H.'s previous reviews pretty much hit the nail on the head, but here's my two cents anyways... Fantastic (and ridiculously large) burger. Even their basic burger for $6 could easily feed 2 adults with a side of fries or onion rings. They get points for being BYOB, too, because who doesn't like a cold one when stuffing your face with greasy meat and cheese?! The fries are a little over seasoned, but that's still alright with me. The onion rings are that heavy batter that you'd expect at the Texas fair or Long John Silvers, but are definitely still a guilty pleasure. Now if there was only a way to transplant the food in another location... because this one sucks. Every time I've gone it's been peak dinner hours and the place is like a ghost town with MAYBE one other table there. Many times you have to ring a bell at the register to have someone finally emerge from the kitchen to help you. I'm pretty sure their staff per shift consists of one person who does it all. Hell, it even looks closed from the outside with the eerie and dim lighting. If Chuck-e-Cheese and Hard Rock Café had a love baby and you time traveled 50 years ahead to the abandoned building, you'd find Burger Time Machine. They've got some really unique relics in there, but it just doesn't work as is. If you want a cheap and delicious burger that you can enjoy your own beer with, it's a great place. But it probably wouldn't hurt to get it to go, either. read more

Old time feel with good burgers. Onion rings are ok but the fries where bomb! They were fresh and seasoned great with a good crisp to them. Me and the wife split a Fritopie burger and fries and filled us both up! Our 7 year old had the kids basket and couldn't finish it all. The decorations are outdated and pool table was very worn but I think that gave it a cool feel. Price was not bad the two meals and drinks with an extra side of onion ring was around 23 dollars. Travelling from California, I wanted to try a real Texas burger and happened to stop by Burger Time Machine. (a great experience!) A spacious restaurant with classic movie theme & retro Back to the Future atmosphere, the menu consisted of both classic and signature (special) burgers. I ordered the shop's signature menu, hence called the Time Machine Burger, with an add-on of Guacamole sauce. Grilled onions, mushrooms, Jalapenos + 1/2 lb Angus beef patty! The burger was HUGE and toppings were very generously included. Patty was well cooked and seasoned, giving the burger a fulfilling taste to the last bite. I also had a chilli cheese fries which, again, the sauces were sooo generous! Burger Time Machine was a nice relief from the array of franchise chains along Texas streets. I only tried its main signature menu but I'm sure you can find just about any topping of your preference- from peanut butter to Korean BBQ sauce. With friendly and accommodating staff, a place definitely worthy of visiting when you are in the area! read more

I came here once with my daughter because she wanted a burger. I had never been here, mainly because it doesn't look like much. The place looks like an afterthought. It is also next door to a subpar sub shop. But once you get the food, that's a different story. Huge and I mean a HUGE burger for only $6. You can't beat that, unless the burger was bad, and this definately was not. Crusty, meaty (not greasy) and loaded with stuff. The fries were great too and they give you way too much. We couldn't finish them. My daughter changed her mind and only picked at her burger.... but she's four, it takes time to develop that pallete of hers and I am working on it. As other reviews have mentioned, not alot of people during lunch and you will wait a few minutes for the food, but it is pretty much worth it. I have to admit, when we first drove up I was starting to think maybe this was a local place I wouldn't be excited to try. However, I've come to know dives to have some of the best, reasonably priced food. This place was no exception. The atmosphere was kind of charming, in an 80's movie poster kind of way. We sat by posters for The Terminator and Back to the Future, both movies my kids weren't old enough to know. Much like moths to a flame, the kids were drawn to the back corner lit by a funky little light. There they found a train set and some toys to keep them busy for the wait. They were pretty worn from an evening on the square, so those toys were just what we needed, and much nicer than the typical fast-food play place. Service was a little slow and my burger was a little more done than I like (but still fantastic). The server/counter person personally came over and apologized for the slow service and said he hoped everything was good. Their cook was bogged down by a bit of a rush that had just ended when we came in, which accounted for the wait. He was very friendly and nice. Best of all, not only did the kids love everything, but those were some massive burgers. We had leftovers for lunch, and it was just as good the second day when warmed in the toaster oven. We are committed fans to the whacky, pop culture-inspired burger menu at Burger Time Machine. In particular, we can't keep our grubby mitts off the Country Peanut Butter and Love Affair burgers. We were initially skeptical about slathering creamy peanut butter or sweet pineapple jam on our meat stacks, but the good news is: they work. The bad news is that they are addicting. Food is really made-to-order at this site, and sometimes that means the wait can be long, especially during lunch hour. Burgers are the best in this side of town, onion rings have that thick bread batter that I like, and the sidewinder fries are like a beautiful mix of steak- and curly fries. First: all employees are wearing masks, which is number one requirement in my book. I was going to go to Frilly's across the street, but the employees weren't wearing masks, there was no table separation or anything. Deal breaker. Here at Burger TM, they have signs up, etc, though they don't require masks of patrons. The fries are crisp outside and the burgers are grass fed. Creative combos. Tried BTM for the first time. I got the build your own, 1/2 lb. burger with the skins on fries. I didn't realize they had quarter pound burgers! Anyway it was decent...Burger was slightly overcooked but still good and toppings were fresh...the fries were alright.They have all kinds of bizarre burger combinations... so reading the menu takes a while. But it is a little pricey in my opinion. Decor is 80s with movie posters, Star Wars paraphernalia, some free video games even a pool table and small bar. (see pics).
