Someone mentioned it was the best burger in Denton, and since I don't remember it being the best when I ate here before, I decided to give it another try. My partner in food wanted to try the King Kong against my better judgment. Looking at the photos, it didn't appear conceivable - to make matters worse, he wanted it to go! It came deconstructed. Four HUMONGOUS beef patties and probably a whole pound of bacon and beautifully melted cheddar. The bun was questionable, mostly because it was nowhere near enough bread for all that meat, but I get it, in a challenge situation, I wouldn't want to load up on bread. The patties were well seasoned and firm. I would have preferred medium, but since I was sharing, well done was fine. Not over done and still juicy. It also came with a container full of steak fries! I admittedly put a hurting in the fries, dipping them in the house ranch mixed with the jalapeño ranch. I wanted the fries to be crispier and the ranch to be thicker, but they were delicious nonetheless!! So how much of it did we finish?? I finished one patty with out bread!! My partner finished one and a half patties with sandwich bread. The bun got designated to my leftover patty. Tomorrow's lunch will be a single patty burger with half a pound of bacon! read more

The food looked great when it came out -- generous portions and nice presentation -- but the flavor didn't quite live up to the visuals. We loved our first visit to RG's! Jaden, our waiter, saw to our every need. We ordered cheeseburgers and mine was heaped with bacon. They were cooked to medium rare perfection. I was passing through Denton and my GF was in the mood for burgers. Everyone on Reddit kept mentioning this place, and I was quite surprised. The location alone raises my eyebrow, as its apart of a dying mall strip that doesnt have much going on for itself. Walking in , I felt like I was transported back into the 80s. The dark interior wit half the wall covered in photos, exposed metal panels, brown leather walls, and black ceilings sucks away any lighting that could linger. The menu itself doesnt look like its been updated in decades, but I decided to still go through with this place. Im glad I did! I went with the spicy all star burger, with the addition of bbq sauce, with onion rings as the side. They made that burger in probably under 10 minutes, which was surprisingly fast for how busy they were. At first bite, its so damn satisfying! Its hearty, juicy, but also not a sloppy mess. Those sweet sourdough buns remind me alot of Fuddruckers, which I was a big fan of. The onion rings were fried to a delightful crisp! My GF's fried pickles were also quite delicious as well in their texture. Alot of the views on the visuals of this place are easily forgivable once I had my meal. Honestly this is better than most burgers Ive had when I was in college. And the crazy part was they opened a few years BEFORE I attended college. A Hidden Gem! The food was excellent (big portions) our waiter **CONNOR** was above and beyond the best! There were 9 ladies - all on separate checks. His patience, accuracy and extreme competence is the best I've seen. Connor agreed to all changes, extras 'special' requests He had all the tickets ready (and correct) when we were through. This what's the worst restaurant I've been to so far in Texas. The first thing I saw when I walked in was these extremely cringy and unflattering photos of people pretending to eat massive oil soaked burgers covering majority of the walls. Super uncomfortable. When we sat down to eat and looked at the menu, I noticed there was not a decent selection of food to pick from. Just your basic items. I asked what kind of veggie patty they had and not a single employee that could answer this question. So instead I ordered the fish n chips with skinny fries and my fiance ordered a burger with steak fries and macaroni salad . To my surprise the fish was machine processed and cut, the entire meal had zero flavor, and the macaroni was SPOILED!!!! I literally almost threw up and immediately lost my appetite. The waitress didn't even bother to ask how was the food or to take off the meal from the check when I sent it back. I ended up not eating at all and left feeling sick. We came here for an early dinner after work. We both ordered the mushroom swiss burgers. The flavor was good but they did not have nearly enough swiss cheese. If you order a salad instead of fries, make sure to ask for it to come out before the meal or they'll bring it at the same time as the burger. The place is decorated with Americana memorabilia, and there are tables and booths to choose from. They did have some larger tables at the front, for larger parties as well. We've been coming here for years. We have always really enjoyed it. The last few months have been really lackluster. Terrible service, lazy and rude servers and long wait times. They don't provide silverware anymore, either. I always have to go up to the counter and ask for it. This time the girl working told me "next time just tell her". Really unacceptable. After explaining to the waitress why I was disappointed, she said the manager (the owner's daughter) told them not to serve silverware because they were losing too much. If she's worried about losing the cheapest flatware Sysco sells, ($6/100) they have bigger problems than silverware. I really hope they get better and learn customer service. read more

This was rocking between a 3 and 4 star. The burger had a great taste and fries delicious as well. It was almost hard to finish both so some fries stayed behind. My favorite was probably the bun used. The server I had was pretty decent and burger arrived in about 15-20 minutes which seemed a little long. Onto the things I didn't care for. They mention the burger is cooked with a little red in the middle. This was not the case at all. The cooks let the burgers sit for about a minute to two minutes too long. I like a medium to medium well burger for taste. They brought me a well done. If it was not for the toppings and all it probably would have not been enjoyable. Last thing I will say is the price point seemed a little much. A drink with fries nowadays is not cheap but once it reaches a 20 dollar a person price point it had better be 110 percent perfect. read more

So I got lettuce, tomato, onions, ketchup, mustard, etc. I am not fond of hamburgers bigger than a mouthful. Although it was not too difficult nor too messy eating it, several sheets of paper towel was needed. When I was halfway finished, I worried about the bottom bun due to the liquid. The edges were soggy and I was afraid it would eventually fall apart. By the time I finished, the bottom bun was still intact. It is amusing the refills on the French fries are free. While eating the cheeseburger, I only had one fry. I did not want to spoil my appetite. I could not have another bite once I finished the cheeseburger. Now that's a burger! First time at RGs, it's in a strip mall with easy parking, there are two spots up front for quick parking/ Togo orders. We dined in, the space is nice and Texas/Americana decor with combo of booths or tables. We were sat promptly, received our drinks quickly and overall service was excellent. The servers help each other by refilling beverages regardless of who's table it is, really nice touch that adds to the dining experience. I asked for the popular dishes and learned they have a burger of the month special burger. This month (March) is well seasoned beef Patty with spicy mustard, perfectly crisp bacon, pickles and Swiss cheese topped with two onion rings. The bread is soft and not sweet like other burger spots, which I appreciate as it doesn't take flavor away from the burger itself. As you can see in my photos this burger is big! I had to smoosh it down to get a full bite and I haven't had to smoosh a burger in a long time. Absolutely delish- excellent all around for food and service this is a MUST stop so come hungry.
