So I have been seeing this place for a while now on my social media feed through an influencer (you might know who Im talking about hehe) Service: Pretty straight forward, I did wait around 10 minutes to get my food, so I would presume it was due to how fresh it should be. Ambiance: I could see this place being very busy so having a seat is not guaranteed and the space looked clean and well taken care of. Food: well I order the fried chicken sandwich and added Cheddar Cheese to it (they have option between American & Cheddar) kept pickle, lettuce and tomato and I added to it Small fries. Well I would assure you that it is one of the best fries I have ever had and they taste so good and look at the portion, its amazing. I was in the area past midnight looking for a decent bite and the group I was with was excited to chow down on some late night burgers. I don't eat red meat but saw an Impossible burger option on their menu online so agreed to take our group there. Single patty burgers were all under 10 bucks, which is exactly what you want from a no frills burger spot. The place was only half full and totally clean. I was delighted to see a few chicken options, chargrilled or fried, which is much healthier than an Impossible patty, which makes every burp taste like chemicals. The burgers came out quickly and were pretty tasty. Perhaps not the best among its competitors but totally solid, and the fries taste like the ones from McDonald's-- the highest compliment in the fry world. Burgerhead was a nice surprise! The fries were super crispy and really tasty- definitely the highlight of my meal. The burger itself was pretty good too, but next time I'll make sure to ask for it well done, I know people eat it with a slight pink in it but I just can't. I did eat it though. lol! A nice & small burger joint in the west village! A quick grab and go type of ambiance. Menu is kinda small and quick to the point. Burgers here are charred and not smashed, it gave it a nice authentic backyard summer bbq taste. Fries were really good and were very similar to McDonald fries. Only issue I had with the burger was it was drowned in sauce so I couldn't really taste the patty. Would recommend as a good spot for a quick bite after some drinks. read more

My friend has been talking about this burger spot and how they're seed oil free for a while so I decided to check it out. The atmosphere is nice. There's a modern/nostalgic burger spot vibe here. Plus they have a decent amount of seating. The menu is seed oil free. Meaning they use healthier oil options. With a good variety of options. I ordered the beef fat fries and double patty charburger. The fries were freshly made and not too much salt on top. You could add ketchup but they're pretty good on its own. You get 2 decent sized patties on the char burger. They were cooked just right. With veggies, cheese, and sauce. This is a well put together burger I just wish it had more flavor to the patty personally. The burger pairs well with the fries too. The fries are amazing. Biting into the burgers & fries here feels like biting into nostalgia, except with a cleaner taste. Deliciousness sandwiched between two buns. My husband and I were walking by when we noticed Burgerhead, the concept of the business is similar to in and out, but it's not a smash burger. They serve chargrilled burgers, we ended up getting the cheeseburger with all the toppings. It reminded me of a whopper from BK, but a better version of it. Heard this place is as close as NYC had to in-n-out burger and so of course I had to come. I went to LA the following week, and got in-n-out, so I had recent comparison experience. DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER So here's where I see that comparison to in-n-out making sense. The bun is actually nicely toasted and has a gentle softness, but the meat-facing side is nicely toasted and has a gentle crunch, which is so nice. This burger is also similar in size, and nice structure-wise. It's SO nice and cheesy. More than an in n out burger. The lettuce is not a whole piece of lettuce but rather shredded. The pickle flavor is nice and strong throughout. The onion as well. I actually really enjoyed this burger, and if given for free with an in n out burger, I might even choose this one tbh. The downside? It's more expensive than in n out (as most things in NYC will be) BEER BATTERED ONION RINGS * gotta get this over the fries. The fries aren't bad by any means, but the beef fat adds so much depth to the onion rings and also, its texture was GREAT. Great sturdiness to the crust of the onion ring, that you can crunch through although yes the onion will still herniate through the skin at times. But less than your typical onion rings FRIES - very solid, on the saltier side, and think in n out fries just saltier and with more crunch. INCREDIBLE place!! I got the double double and beef fat fries. The burger is not a Smashburger style so it comes very hefty. It is a classic sesame seed bun so if you don't like potato buns, this is the place for you. They do not skip out on the sauce and it was a perfect combination of melted cheese and sauce. The beef fat fries were delicious. They do a great job salting the fries so there is flavor, and you can taste the beef fat. My only complaint is all of the tables were running low on ketchup. However, even with just the simple ingredients, it was still really good! It was a bit greasy / the bottom bun was pretty soaked upon arrival, but it was super tasty nonetheless & loved the grilled flavor. Also appreciated that it wasn't over-cooked and was still pink in the middle! I got onion rings on the side, and they surprisingly stayed crispy, though they weren't my favorite onion rings ever (but no complaints)! Note: Don't come in here expecting an In-N-Out style burger. Think more fancy better version of a Whopper or something instead though with a different secret sauce. This is a simple concept restaurant replacing Balkan StrEAT which was an excellent well Balkan spot. They didn't really change much here outside of making the menu looking plainer which has his pluses and minuses. It's nice in terms of it's simple look but they need to explain what's on the burger and they also have some extra toppings not listed outside of their online menu which are ketchup, mustard, grilled onions, and cherry peppers. I'm happy that this spot isn't doing the whole smash burger craze and instead is doing char-grilled burgers/charburgers similar to let's say In-N-Out or Habit Burger. The honesty should probably have that as the logo (Char Grilled Not Smashed as per someone on Insta would be excellent.) In terms of prices for food, they at this point don't have any type of combo menu which gets a bit pricey and they should probably add something like this as a lunch special at least maybe for the NYU students as otherwise it's pricey here. On a related note, they don't have tap water or at least they're alluding to that so you have to purchase one of their bottled waters or sparkling. It's $3.50 for seltzer which is a bit much and even more egregious for the bottles which are $1.90. Anyway, I went with the double Char Burger for $11.90 (or $7.90 for the single.) Said burger as per their menu online consists of two grilled-to-order 4 oz patties, toasted sesame seed bun, American cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, & house sauce. As I generally don't like raw onions on burgers, I substituted for grilled onions which wasn't extra which is good and I maybe would have added the cherry peppers if I knew of the option. The burger was the star of the show and the quality was decent with clear grill marks and it was nice and meaty and cooked properly. There wasn't much shredded lettuce which for me is a plus though I think they could have used a bit more grilled onions. There wasn't much tomato either and the pickles were standard. The sauce is different at least being a bit more mustard focused I think. Overall, it was definitely a pretty greasy burger and definitely focused more on the meat rather than any of the other toppings. The French Fries are simple; fried in beef tallow; and are $4.50 for what I would describe as a medium size option from the various fast food spots. They're $4.50 which is alright and the flavor was standard. There was a good crisp and the texture was pretty uniform. Otherwise, I definitely should have gone with the onion rings which other people were having which just looked better and were probably more worth it. I appreciate this place for what they're doing as they're grilling burgers instead of the usual smash but it's a bit greasy and a bit pricey. Luckily for me, the meal which essentially costed $22 was $14 as I had a $8 discount for some reason or another (I guess this was the machine used at the previous place or something) which made it a bit more reasonably priced. 3.4 lowered. read more

Rating: more like a 3.5 overall I'm from cali and have been craving an in n out burger so when I saw an ig post saying it's what they think in n out should taste like, I knew I had to come. I liked that there's seating available to be able to eat on the spot. Charburger: I added grilled onions and sweet peppers (which I appreciate is an available topping that is shown on the website but not the in store menu). I tried requesting whole grilled onions but I don't think the cashier understood English too well and only got the grilled onions but it wasn't a big deal cuz I mostly just wanted grilled onions. All the components were done properly and the overall burger was good but nothing remarkable in taste tbh, especially for almost $8. I did appreciate that they put a good amount of each component throughout the burger so you would get every one in every bite. As for how it compares to in n out, definitely incomparable. Main obvious differences are the totally different buns, lettuce cut, and sauce flavor profile. The buns are less buttery and flavorful and the house sauce is basically just a thick mustard and wasn't rly special in general imo. Only reason for the comparison is due to the post I saw that made it. If anything, it'd be more comparable to the habit I think. Onion rings: definitely more impressed by the rings than the burger. They were well seasoned, perfectly crispy, and loved that I could take a clean bite and not end up pulling out the entire onion inside. I am curious to try their chili so might come back for that but probably would pass on the burger. It's still an overall good burger but I think I can find better at this price point. read more

My brother and I were just exploring the city. He had some time off between his clients and I was off for the day. Three hours wandering sounded perfect this afternoon! We were walking along the west side and randomly found this place he ordered the double bacon charburger and I got the single charburger. We shared the fries. All of the food was really good. This was a nice smashed burger with some crispy fries on the side. I ended up getting a vanilla shake. Super tasty and very smooth! Some times places have ice chucks but not here. The service was excellent. We were greeted at the door, order taken quickly. The guy at the register didn't realize we were ordering separately, but once he did he was very quick to get everything in. As far as ambiance? It's a normal quick service spot. Some music, most tables were open. There were some standing tables and some seated. Ac was really nice on that hot day. If you like a good smash burger and fries, I'd highly recommend! I generally order delivery from burgerhead. Every time the order arrives the friend are scattered throughout the bag they come in and are always cold. The fries should be wrapped so they don't spill. The burgers are good, it extremely thin for the price. I recommend getting a double to feel satisfied but again, expensive for the size of the patties. Another gripe I have is that they don't allow special instructions for prep. They need to activate that feature in the app, especially for the price. As native New Yorker, BH should know that NYC'ers are discerning and particular about their food. read more

Don't get me wrong, this is a very good burger, a good amount of meat for the price, it's nice and cheesy, I didn't get a tomato slice, would've liked one and there wasn't that much lettuce. The reason for my three stars, I ordered this through Uber Eats and they put a wax type paper on their burger, the burger actually absorbed the wax paper and it made the burgers flavor change and in some spots of the burger like the center, you could taste the burger, but around the sides it was just a different taste. I didn't like the fries, they were really short, and hard. I'm willing to give this burger, another shot and go in and try it without ordering it on Uber eats. And there must've been something in the press saying this was like an In-n-Out, I'm from the Bay Area, this is nothing at all like an In-n-out burger.
