Had to try this local fried chicken chain once. Came by on a Saturday afternoon a little past lunch hour. There were still people coming in and out. Ordered a fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was moist and didn't feel overly saturated in oil. Could have used more seasoning. The buns were fluffy. However, there was so much mayo. The mayo didn't taste anything special either. It ruined the sandwich a bit for me even after i scraped some of it off. They have a student lunch deal during the weekdays as long as you bring your ID. The chicken in all of the entrees is always juicy (much appreciated compared to overcooked at others). I'd say that the tenders could be a tad bit crispier, but I'm glad that the breading isn't overpowering or too much in relation to the size of the chicken. I am really disappointed after trying this place for the first time :( I got the Buffalo chicken Caesar wrap with a side of mac and cheese. I ordered takeout and when I got home and opened my wrap I saw rotten lettuce inside the wrap. I figured I could remove the rotting pieces and eat around them - no, the entire wrap was full of wilting, rotten lettuce, including some pieces that were discolored and brown. The smell coming from the lettuce made my stomach turn and I didn't feel comfortable eating any of the wrap, even after removing all of the lettuce. It's located in the East Village and is a small place with no indoor seating and some outdoor covered patio seating. For the chicken sandwich, it was slightly spicy and I really liked the homemade pickles and mayonnaise. It wasn't the crispiest chicken sandwich I've had but it was pretty good. The mac and cheese was creamy and thick; it was definitely not a soupy or wet kind but it was really good. The food came out pretty quickly which was nice because I was starving. That was literally the thing that made them famous! Now they just serve chicken tender things, like a million other places. What happened? Did they get sold? It's super sad. This was such a special spot (they also had great other things, like a perfect catfish sandwich and pimento cheese, in a cozy space), and now all that's left of this place is the name. 2 stars because their chicken tenders are fine, but who needs another buffalo chicken tender place? This is like if a famous burger place stopped serving burgers and just kept the fries. The burgers are gone, but the fries are still good, so 2 stars, I guess? Heartbreaking.
