We ordered a big order, about 10 burgers with fries. Burgers were not labeled so we had to open each one and guess which burger they were. Burger patties were dry and over cooked. I ordered garlic butter fries and all they gave us was over seasoned, salty Cajun fries. Nothing about the fry order was correct. They gave us no ketchup. The lettuce wrapped burger had wilted brown lettuce placed on the burger. Nothing about it was "wrapped" in lettuce. The pictures don't look anything like what they give you. Went in to find yet another thing in Lafayette covered in a "special sauce". The burgers were mediocre at best. If they were smithed, someone needs a new trade. There's nothing especially unique about this average bar-style burger. It's a little pricey, but that can be attributed to its boutique location. The fries were soggy and over zealously seasoned. The most interesting part of the whole experience was that a manager came to our table to check on us and make a recommendation for the next time. He recommended the Cajun Bratwurst , which is NOT bratwurst, or for that matter a BURGER! One of the only times I've had legitimately rude service. We'd asked our server (Abigail) if there were any specials, she told us no. (even though it was 2for1 burgers and draft beer) When asked about that special, she rolled her eyes and asked what we wanted to drink. To start off, my husband and I go to Smith Birger quite often cause the burgers are great. We used to go at least 3 times a month. Now we go every now and than. The reason is you guys need a better appetizer menu. It is a eat in place why not offer better appetizer beside cheese fry and fried okra. We really would like it when you guys open the one in Broussard, LA that the appetizer menu has a bit more on it than just what y'all have on it now. Absolutely disgusted! We fell in love with Burgersmith when it first opened in Lafayette LA. However, over the years we have slowly been loving less and less. Tonight (2-2-18) was most likely the very last time we will trust to dine at Burgersmith. There are entirely too many other restaurants where we can enjoy a nice meal without worry. We ordered cheese fries and okra and our waitress ask if we would like them for appetizers. Good idea so we said yes. We also ordered a Bison Burger with cheese and the special pineapple sausage with grilled onions. The okra was hot and well fried. The cheese fries were good, not great since the cheese was a glob that had cooled. Ok though. After a while the entrees arrived. The pineapple sausage was room temperature and the grilled onions were cold. No, not a little warm. They were COLD. I was rather taken back. The hamburger was the same. Cold, not even warm. The cheese looked like plastic. Our waitress said she would have our order remade. When our order returned, I noticed the grilled onions were the same-COLD-, it was the same bun and lettuce, and the sausage was simply a little warmer. My boyfriend said that the burger felt a little warm, but noticed the burger was like a hockey puck and the cheese looked worse. Concerned, he opened his hamburger to discover it was the same burger that he had taken a bite from. Yes, there was his bite taken out of it. We notified our waitress who in turn notified the general manager. We explained our disbelief and the general manager explained that it is what they do. She stated that food sent back is reheated on the grill. -Food that was bitten on or touched, that has mayonnaise and old cheese on it is reheated on the grill!- I stated that if a hamburger is ordered at a certain temp -such as med/well- it will overcook if reheated. I did not even mention the toppings or condiments or that food that has sat out then reheated should not be eatten. This is the quality that Burgersmith strives to serve? The general manager kept repeating that she has been GM for 3 years and that food sent back is reheated. She did say that the food would be remade if the customer requests it. I believe I repeated at least twice that it was our waitress who said the order would be remade. All that the GM would say is that is what is done...food sent back is reheated. She told us our meal would be comped and remade. I told her we didn't know what we would be getting. Disgusted, we got up and walked straight out the door. I do not know how the general manager of Burgersmith can be OK with this policy and we do not know how Burgersmith could even think this is OK. So horribly disappointed in an establishment we once loved. read more

There is decent selection of free toppings as well as some unique pay toppings .I like to get my "Smith" burger with the butter garlic fries. I've tried the Cajun Bratwurst which was pretty good as well. Frequent visitors also have the chance to try different things as they offer seasonal specials like fried okra. Normally I like to sit outside, but I think they could benefit from planting some nice shrubbery to help drown out the traffic noise.
