We have been going to Burgondy Brook for almost 3 years. I do not recommend it for anyone with gluten sensitivity. The waitress was very diffident "We don't have anything on the menu that is gluten-free." We later approached Kevin, the owner, and asked if he could put some items on the menu that we could eat. He said it would take hiring too many new people and it would complicate food preparation. In actual fact it would only require making some items with a different flour. We pointed out that he could simply have some gluten-fee muffins or bread in the freezer to accommodate those of us who cannot eat gluten. He said his philosophy is to produce everything from scratch and that philosophy seems to be working for him and he doesn't plan to add any gluten-free menu items. The owner seems to have a take it or leave it attitude. If anyone in your group is gluten sensitive you should dine elsewhere. Additionally, the address on the website will take you to a location about a mile away from the actual location. It has been over a year since this was supposed to be straightened out and the address on the web page for the GPS still has not been fixed. read more

My husband and I and another couple decided to try this restaurant after seeing the commercial on the tv. Boy were we ever impressed!! The menu had many suggestions for both breakfast and lunch. We each had a different item to eat and no one was disappointed with their pick. This will be our new destination for brunch in the future. The place was crowded but you never felt it was. The servers were very punctual with asking for beverage choices. Then just as quickly taking our food orders. There wasn't a long wait for our meals which surprised me because of how busy they were. Went here for the first time for breakfast today. I loved it from the minute I walked In. Very cozy and homey atmosphere, lovely views of the farm next door and their horses. The staff was very friendly and my food was to die for. I had a scramble with pepperoni, peppers, home fries, and provolone cheese. I also like that they include coffee in the price of your meal. We are adding this place to our list of favorite breakfast spots. The waitstaff was extremely kind and the food was so delicious. The food is as good as it gets when it comes to good ol' country breakfast! The hashbrowns are good enough that I had my left overs with dinner. Their homemade breads are so yummy. This was my favorite breakfast place. However, when I order pancakes or French toast, the syrup has no flavor and is so watered down. You have to pay extra to get maple syrup. Normally regular syrup is sufficient for me. I have recommended this place to several people. I do find that servers/staff attitudes vary. Sometimes they are very pleasant, other times they can be rude. There is also an issue with flies. They need to be more vigilant in keeping dead flies off the windowsills. Lastly, I want to say, there are a lot of good items on the menu. I also think the variety and home cooking is great. However, I do go there less because of the above issues. read more

This is an excellent and authentic country café, many notches above an ordinary greasy spoon. It is a family run business with a half-dozen very well-trained, polite, and hard-working waitstaff. The café is also a creative and careful bakery which makes interesting breads, cupcakes, pastries, cakes, pies and meat pies. The eggs Benedict are excellent. I've only been here for breakfast but always enjoy it. They offer all the usual breakfast items such as omelettes and pancakes. I have tried various pancakes and always have enjoyed them including the blueberry ones which I particularly like. There are plenty of tables to sit at and there is also a bar type of area that you can sit at. In addition they have seating in an outside porch area. Pricing is average and fair. The service is exceptional. As soon as you enter you are acknowledged which I feel is extremely important as a customer. A simple good morning is all it takes and they always do that. A breakfast that won't break your budget with lots of choices from simple coffee and toast to a huge omelette. I highly recommend them. read more

A co-worker told me about this restaurant and praised about their cornbread. This is my 1st time to this new location and I already had a bad breakfast experience. This establishment does not have any parking on their property. You have to park somewhere near the main road. Two of my buddies and myself were at the table waiting to be served. The young waitress came over and took our orders. I ordered three eggs over medium and received two eggs almost on the sunny side. We had to let the waitress know a couple times that the table was short a set of silverware. The cornbread was edible but burnt on the sides. Not many choices to pick from the menu and they're pricey. It seems the staff are not attentive to detail or the customer needs. I don't think I'll be coming back any time ever. read more

Burgundy Brook was a pretty average eatery. I got the Mad Moose (eggs benedict on cornbread) which was delicious, but the side of hash browns was cold and soggy and didn't have a very good flavor. Service was pretty slow. read more

Mike and I went to Burgundy Brook this morning for brunch. We were sat in a corner booth that had no silverware and the person who sat us told us he would get us some. We had two creamers total, no sugar, no ketchup, etc. The same person who sat us took our drink order. After we had waited for about 10 minutes for someone to come over a server walked over and asked if we needed more time. We ordered and mike asked for silverware again and then the waiter said no problem and he left. We were still waiting another ten minutes later (mike wanted to stir his coffee) for silverware. We called over a girl close by cleaning and asked if she could get us some. She handed mike a dirty spoon. He returned it and she got us more silverware. Our food came out undercooked , again no problem we asked another girl to please have them cook it a little longer. Another person brought that out. Mike got up and went to another table to get us salt and pepper because we didn't have any. I stopped another waiter to bring us ketchup and cream cheese for my bagel. Still no one has checked to see if our food is ok or if we need anything. We aren't big complainers so we just tried to eat peacefully. When we got up to pay at the end of it all the woman took our bill and asked how it was... I responded "it was ok" she immediately became very angry and said what was wrong. So I started to explain and she began raising her voice demanding what we needed that we didn't get saying that her son was our server. When I tried to explain again she became even more angry crumpled our receipt and said it's on the house and walked away. I was appalled as we have never had an experience like that there before. We have always enjoyed their breakfast and service. We didn't expect free food or anything however after that unfortunate altercation I don't think we will be returning... read more

Perhaps the best breakfast in Massachusetts. This place is a go-to for breakfast when friends spend a night. The menu is diverse, but they also do all the basics you'd expect, and do them well. My personal favorite is the meat pie with home fries and fresh fruit. The portions are great and the prices are very reasonable. All these combined make Burgundy Brook a must try. read more

So this was one of the first places I ate at before moving up her and I loved it because the food is made to order like a dinner but better. Horses are next door and your able to feed them carrots and look out into the veils while you eat. Very popular place they have fresh bread for sale. The only thing is I think they get there pastries in from other places and if they sit too long they mold I'm glad I looked at my muffin and could see the fuzz on it before devouring it. I had a friend suggest BBC quite some time ago. We have gone several times, in every different season. And there have been times that we had to speak to our server, and in spite of the owner treating us like we should be thanking them for being there, we return bexause the food is pretty good. I have a phobia of sitting in the middle of the room, and the staff, including the owner are aware that I can't be seated in certain areas of the restaurant. Because of this, I don't mind waiting. This particular morning, my husband and I arrived and we were told that the wait would be 20 or so minutes. I said "For the inside right?" There are tables in the what can only be described as an enclosed porch, and I will only sit inside the actual restaurant. Again, the staff is aware, and I don't mind waiting. And the owner who is the host, said "Yep!" Fast forward to being seated, the owner showed us to a table on the enclosed porch, but, I knew my husband was hungry so, I tried to sit there. Once seated, I instantly got a vertigo like feeling, and my husband knew that the table wouldn't work. The server who is a sweet girl, tried to accommodate us at another table, but they all slant downward, so it wouldn't work. My husband informed the server, who understood, and said she would get us another table inside the restaurant. She even said that the owner knew we had to be seated inside. So, my husband and I returned outside to wait for the next table, after a few minutes I went back inside to see what kind of time we were looking at, and discovered he had bumped us all the way to the bottom of the list! I asked him why were we not going to get the next table and he said because we refused the one on the "porch". I said given that we are semi regular customers and coupled with the fact that I have a phobia that they were aware of, how could he treat us like that? He said "Yeah, well I guess I'm sorry." "Do you want the table or not?" I was outraged. I walked out the door, and have never gone back. Their food is really good, mostly. But to be treated like this is unacceptable. I have no idea how this restaurant has a four star review. It's nestled in a beautiful location but the raving stops there. As a single diner I was, of course, seated at the bar... Where I was ignored. I ordered the special which was a cheese omelette that had no flavor whatsoever. How can you mess up an omelette. There was very little cheese inside the omelette. It also included a few very small pieces of half-cooked bacon (1" x 1") ... you know something's wrong when I'm passing on the BACON! It was said to include home fries but that meant a couple of cubed potatoes (again 1"X1") inside the omelette and the chives where nowhere to be seen. It came with a dollop of bargain-brand sour cream that should have been called "Kreme" on top. The most disappointing part of my visit is that I left a plate with three bites taken out of my meal and no one cared to address this clearly dissatisfied customer. When checking out I SAID the meal was not satisfactory and nothing was done to retain me as a patron. The cherry on top of my visit was my $9 omelette (which I didn't eat) was taxed by the waitress on my slip and then taxed again at the register. Bad food isn't good... Double taxing is a crime. People of the valley, the trip to burgundy brook is a sojourn worth undertaking. You may think stopping at the roundhouse in belchertown for their organic breakfast is far enough, but those willing to go just a wee bit further down route 9 will be rewarded with some amazing food. Fresh baked bread, amazing specials, perfect hash browns, and super friendly owners and waitstaff make this my favorite breakfast and lunch place around. Enjoy the bucolic scenery of the adjoining farm and horse rescue while you enjoy a hearty breakfast at a great value. Pick up a homemade pie or cake to bring home, too. I go often to this place. I would have given a much better review, however they will never serve vegetarian soups. When I asked the owner if he would ever consider serving vegetarian choices. His reply to me was I should go to Friendly's as they might have some vegetarian soup. Does not make one feel welcome does it? how disappointing and insulting! I've been here 3 times within a year and I have yet to have a disappointing breakfast. I don't understand the negative reviews regarding the owner, either. I've always found him to be super friendly. So much so, in fact, one day I was talking about my love for spicy food and hot sauce with my friend and he came up to us and asked if I wanted to try a hot sauce he personally made. We are long time customers of this restaurant. We had just finished visiting my mother who had a stroke. We arrived at the restaurant at about 15 minutes to 2. We knew that the restaurant closed at 2 but in the past when we arrived there at that time we were let in and the restaurant stayed open until 3 o'clock while the employees were cleaning up. My son who ate there nearly every day in July and August Was informed coldly that we could come in but we would have to eat food by 2 o'clock .The owner who has been so friendly with my son in the past ignored him. When going into the restaurant we had to try to get around a huge mud puddle which caused us to have to clean off our shoes when we got home. My sons car was full of mud and my son had to purchase new shoes. I feel that now that the business is built up the owner doesn't care about his longtime customers . Most of the restaurants I know say that they are closing at a certain time but if you get there before the time close they let you order and eat your food and treat you in a very pleasant manner. In view of how we treated we will never be eating there again. The food is very good but the attitude is horrible. Maybe if this happens with some other customers the business might not be around much longer. we have shared what happened with our friends and relatives and they will not be frequenting this establishment either. By the way if you are interested in your customers don't you think the mud puddle right outside the door should have been taken care of ? read more
