As soon as you walk in to this establishment you can tell the staff haven't been properly trained in customer service. When I asked about a type of beef, the manager giggled as if my question was stupid. It made me feel not valued. They even asked me, an African American, to put away my basket and the basket of the previous customer, who was white. Overall not a good experience. They lost a customer today. read more

Great if you want to buy meat that are grass fed (although unsure if it's organic). Yes, there's a difference. Grass can be treated with pesticide. Anyways, a very small store that sells quite expensive grass fed meat. $12/lb for chicken breast. that is quite pricey. I know they say the meat is from their farm or local farms. But I can get grass fed and organic at Sprouts, or grass fed from Central Market. I know little stores have to charge more, but the amount of meat this family eats, we can't afford these expensive cuts. We swung by to try their burgers on Sunday. It was okay. It didn't taste different or better than regular burgers, but I guess for some people's ease of mind knowing they are having grass fed burgers. However.... the wait!!! Sure there were some people before us, but not a lot. But still.... 30-45mins for one burger and one hot dog. It was not worth the wait. Every one who worked there is nice, but I don't think the ones cooking in the open kitchen were organized. They seemed confused and stumbling around grabbing ingredients. There is only 2 items on the menu I believe. burgers (with/without bacon), hot dog (with chili). So why the 45 mins wait with maybe 8 people ahead of us? I don't know.... read more

Great quality and SUCH nice people. Love these little local family businesses, and support them as much and whenever I'm able. This shop is extremely small, which is as much a benefit as a liability. They're often out of the thing I'm hoping to get on the day I have the impulse to get it (definitely good to call ahead if possible). The nature of the products means the prices are pretty high, but they carry exceptional meats that even Whole Foods doesn't stock, so it's worth it if your budget can take it. I have been a customer for a while and really enjoyed the options of all healthy items. My last visit was not very appealing. I guess the owners were in shop and basically ignored me as if I was a leach. The man with his picture on the wall sat behind the counter as i checked out. He didnt look at me say hi or thank you or anything at all. Very rude and stuck up... Maybe the customers are the reason your doors are open in the first place. I went to the Forth Worth location on 7th street for the first time to buy some frozen chicken livers and ground beef for a lady I take care off. She gave specific instructions. Which I asked the lady working that was there (lady with black, short hair and bangs). Simple questions about if they had fresh unfrozen chicken livers bc the and if they had any ice to go..., her answers to me were really snarky, Like: "no we don't have any, but putting frozen meat with ice would be redundant "...I don't understand why...she even had to answer that way.. I mean whole food carries ice for when people buy meat.. so couldn't she just answer with a simple No? I'm sure the meat is good and healthy,,, hopefully my client enjoys it.. but the employee wasn't the best, at least with me, so honestly I don't think I would go back,, at least not for myself.. read more

I really wish more places like this existed. There's a movement to go local and shop small and I am all aboard that train. I used to walk here from my apartment on West 7th and relish in the local, grass-fed meats and homemade artisan cheeses. Some locally sourced nuts and honey and all around specialty items you just can't find anywhere else line the walls and refrigerators. On weekends they've got a chef cooking up burgers, hot dogs, etc. and they are delicious! Give yourself some time to wait because they cook it fresh for you. I really enjoy the raw meat selection, and the staff has been very helpful and courteous when I've gone in to buy something. (I recommend paying the large price increase, relative to a grocery store, for a whole chicken. The chicken in supermarkets though less expensive, sacrifices 90% of the natural flavor) I can only give 4 stars, however, because I ordered a burger that was cooked well. What in the name of hell is a butcher doing serving a well-done piece of meat? The value/quality of the burger is effectively destroyed. Maybe I should have specified, but I think this one just got wayyyy ahead of the line cool, which is unfortunate - it's like adding ice to a really quality wine or like putting Toyota Prius tires on an Aston Martin. We dropped by this place on a Saturday right after lunch but almost got a hamburger despite being full because of the enticing smell from the kitchen. But one of us had enough sense and decided to come back to try it on another day. Please note that the hamburgers are only available from Fridays to Sundays. The people at the store were friendly and gave you introductions to all of their locally sourced food. They carried all sorts of cheeses, honey and of course the grass fed beef & lamb and pasture raised pork and chicken. If you are into specialty items, they also have chicken feet, beef liver & heart, bones to make beef stock and if you are too lazy to do that, they also have already made pho stock too. I forgot to mention that they also carried pet food too. It's like an adventure to just walk around and see what is available. This is a one of a kind place. There is no other organic pasture raised meat market in the DFW. ALWAYS fresh meat that was packaged at their facility in Grandview 2-4 days when you buy it. VERY VERY clean facility off 7th with really nice staff. Friday's Saturday's and Sunday's they have fresh burgers served at the market with places to sit inside! If you have never had grass fed beef you will never go back! Come check this place out! read more

Stopped in over the weekend to pick up a couple of rib-eyes ($18 for 12 oz, or $24/lb). Steep, but figured the quality was going to be leaps and bounds better than anywhere else, and certainly cheaper than going out. After checking out, I made the terrible mistake of asking the cashier if they sold veal. While a simple "No we do not" would have been an appropriate answer, I instead received a lecture about how inhumane veal is...the horrors of separating the calf from the mother, and the stress on the mothers...and how they like to have "happy cows". Wow..did I feel awful! (not really), but at least the two rib-eyes I was holding were from cows who were smiling as they were slaughtered. You can't really taste the happiness, but it was there. Now, I won't give 0 stars just because of one ignorant hipster employee with no sense of professionalism or self awareness. The encounter left a bad taste in my mouth, but I figured I'd prep/cook the steaks, not tell my wife about the cashier's attitude, and let her decide with a free mind how the steak was. The steaks were prepped/cooked as I usually do them (and I can cook a very nice medium-rare) steak. And we both agreed that these steaks were absolutely...underwhelming. Mine was a bit better than hers, but we've definitely have had better from elsewhere, and at half the price. Now, my wife didn't know that the cow was a "happy cow" and was slaughtered with a huge smile on her face. Maybe I should've told her. 2 stars earned for selling some grass-fed beef that didn't make us sick. Local business. Clean store. Convenient location. But yeah..."Meh. I've experienced [much] better". TL;DR: Got a lecture from the cashier about the horrors of veal. Paid $24/lb for ribeyes that just weren't all that great. I live next to this place. I don't eat meat but they do have eggs and on occasion some tomatoes from a local farm. They have a large beef selection and other meat things and some cheeses. Seems like a great neighborhood offering. read more

I called to apologize but little or no insight took hold--she gave me advice on how to avoid her ire in the future and gave a hollow admission that she was sorry I FELT she was harsh. What can I say about Burgundys? First, thanks for opening a store in Fort Worth!! I have been shopping Burgundys since Grandview and I'm happy to be able to get these meats right at home now. Their culinary quality is excellent in all of the foods they sell. If you stop here for a burger, you won't be disappointed. Best burger around!! I love buying all of My meats from Burgundy. Both locations have a great/wholesome team running their business. I live in N. Dallas, so I make a trip out here every 2-3 months and I stock up for My wife and Me. I am also an aspiring chef and I am classically training Myself. I guess we can call that "home schooling" with a bunch of texts and resources. I'm also a bit of an environmentalist and believe in traditional/ethical/humane farming compared to "industrial/mass farming". Integrity/respect for the animal and the farmer is what I value most. When cooking becomes your passion, you naturally want the best of every ingredient you can find. When you come into their store, everything is categorized/organized. It's easy to shop. Their meats are vacuum sealed and block hard frozen. I've never had a problem encountering freezer burn during defrosting. This is the real deal. I was buying pasture raised/grass-fed meats at Wholefoods (limited selection/quantity) and usually $2 more per pound of already defrosted meats. I come exclusively here and highly recommend them :) read more
