This was on a small lake with outdoor seating and good-sized bar indoors. The menu had many choices to choose from. The service was alright, and the food came out in a timely manner. The water did taste a little funny just to note. For appetizers, the loaded potato skins ($14.99) and wings with honey BBQ sauce ($14.99) were ordered. The potato skins were filled with Applewood bacon, sweet onions, green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and melted Cheddar Jack cheese. These were very tasty. They were definitely loaded with all of the toppings. I do not recall seeing peppers, onions, and mushrooms on a potato skin before, but they did wonders with the bacon and cheese. The wings were very saucy. There were eight appropriate size wings. They could have been crispier. For an entrée, the Michigan whitefish ($26.99) was ordered. It also came with a side, and I chose the string beans, which were outstanding. They were crispy with plenty of garlic. The whitefish was seasoned with Parmesan crusted spices. The fish was of good size and cooked well. It just lacked seasoning as it needed a little more. Will I go back? Probably. read more

Won't be back, and I suggest you all avoid this place also. Restaurant So we're seated in the far corner next to the swamp, not waterfront, swamp. The walls were dirty. The windows were dirty. We had a good view of snakes and spiders and just a swamp. Service Like a lot of people are saying the wait staff here at this place is definitely rough. Not nice. Don't seem to really be too interested in customer service. That should've been the tip for us to leave right then. Food We both got the ribeye sandwich. It really should've been called a grilled cheese sandwich with grease that tastes like meat. You can see in the pictures. This is what they served us. This is what they were proud of. This is what they're saying bring the family home is their motto? For what, a greasy grilled cheese that taste like crap for $18.99 and you gotta pay $4 dollars more to get fries. We took a couple of bites and then we brought it home. And then we threw it away. Cost So here's the end of it. $18.99 for each sandwich. They weren't worth much more than five bucks. If that. Then you have to pay more for fries. And four dollars for an iced tea. I'm attaching our bill... 52 bucks plus tip out the door. Let's just say it was pretty much 52 bucks. I didn't tip much on this gig. Summary Waterfront restaurant is a swamp and not Lake Cadillac as you would expect. Customer service that is lacking for sure Food just sucks and not even worth the cost at all. They obviously don't care about keeping their restaurant clean or about serving food that customers actually like and they're proud to serve. $52 for two sandwiches and two drinks. We are locals here to Cadillac and I will never stop foot in this place again. We've been here once before and we left because we didn't even have anybody come and wait on us after we were seated. I don't know why we went back this time, but we won't be going again. I suggest all you people coming up here to enjoy the great up north don't spoil your vacation by stopping in to Burke's Waterfront. read more

On our 6 hour drive up from Western Springs, Il to Petoskey, MI we stopped here on our way for lunch. I was here with my family of seven including two preschoolers and one elementary school child. The restaurant overlooks a small section of Lake Cadillac, therefore we opted to eat outside. It was a beautiful sunny day in early August. See my pics and video. I started with my Bellaire American Brown Ale from Short's Brewing. Bellaire Brown Brown Ale has notes of chocolate, toasted malt, caramel and coffee. It is full bodied, dry and easy on the palate. I enjoyed my waterfront wet burrito, a town classic favorite with a fluffy flour tortilla with seasoned ground beef stuffed with refried beans, vine ripened tomatoes and crispy lettuce drenched in homemade burrito sauce with melted Mexican cheeses for $15.99. We stopped in here on our last day of the fall circle tour of the colors. Some beautiful shades of gold, red, purple, yellow! Some areas were near their peak, but others like the tunnel of trees were probably a week away from being at peak. Back to breakfast. Was in Cadillac on a business trip, chose Burke's for a client dinner based on reviews and it didn't disappoint. We were greeted right away and as it was a beautiful day, asked to be seated outside. The patio overlooks the lake and there is a huge tree proving shade. No photos, but we shared an order of loaded potato skins and they were delicious and not greasy as some can be. One of our party had the fish and chips, one the sirloin steak and one had the blackened ribeye. Steaks were cooked very well, perfect temps, mashed potatoes were tasty, if a bit thick and the gravy the perfect finish. I was not terribly impressed with my wine, but I admit to being spoiled being so close to CA wine country. Service was fast and friendly. I'd go again if I'm in the area. read more

Was looking for something with outdoor seating overlooking water. Couldn't have asked for a better spot. Plus, we were the only ones brace enough to be on the deck with rain threatening skies. It held off till we started walking back to our car. Food was good. Nothing fancy or full. Delicious and priced good. Couldn't have asked for something better than a nicely cut prime rib. Last minute decision to eat here as our first option had a long wait and the second was not open on Sunday. The parking lot was really crowded but there was still plenty of room inside and there is also outdoor seating right by the lake. The view is very nice. Server was prompt and friendly. It took a long time for the food to arrive, but everything was hot and the order was correct and hot. My wings were good. They serve Pepsi products. The view is great from this restaurant, if you're able to sit out on the big patio, or if you sit indoors by the big windows facing the water. The food is a'ight. We visited for breakfast, and they have your typical American breakfast foods. The only thing: My omelet was bland, and it wasn't improved with hot sauce (they only have Tabasco). It's too bad, because there were lots of good things in it, like cheese and peppers and spinach. We also got biscuits and gravy. The gravy was not at all hot, which was a bummer. They have a kids' menu (a Minnow's Menu) with breakfast and lunch options. My kids enjoyed their food, but they especially enjoyed their chocolate milk. Overall, our breakfast experience was fine. Lunch with a view. We were visiting Cadillac for a color tour to enjoy the Fall colors. Wanted to sit and watch the water while we had lunch. Found this great restaurant between lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell. Full bar, full menu and a view. Win win. We asked to be seated outside on the deck. There was a couple with a dog and the restaurant offered a drink bowl for the pup. How sweet. Our waitresses Jaelei was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Stopped here on the way home from crystal mountain. Great north woods diner vibe, exactly what we were looking for. We got the cheese curds, which were delicious. Our entrees (roast beef dinner + prime stack sandwich) were good. Price was slightly high compared to food quality but it was still a worthy experience. Would return! read more

Fantastic view inside at the lake! Even saw a cute cat that the restaurant feeds and has a warm house outside for! Five stars alone just for that . I ordered the country skillet and it came out flawless, we're staying at a hotel a few minutes away skiing and I couldn't have picked a better breakfast place. If I could give this less than 1, I would. The food is overpriced, extremely so. The wait staff was short tempered. The restaurant is pretty but generic. Nothing too special here. I wouldn't waste your money as there are much better options in Cadillac. We ordered the PO boy sandwich - there was 1 piece of fish on a large chunk of bread. It came with burnt chips and a pickle. Definitely not worth the money. The fish is unseasoned as well. I had the French onion soup as well. Not good. The flavoring is lacking and they forgot it so it came after I was almost finished eating my meal and then I didn't eat it because it was lackluster. Two of my children got the French onion burger. And paid 4.50 extra for them to both get onion rings. There were 5 small burnt onion rings on the plate. One meal we sent back completely, the other my child attempted to eat until there was something hard in it as well as the server reaching over to grab a glass and touching my child's burger, so that went unfinished as well. My mother ordered the BLT and the chicken dumpling soup, and my other child had the cheese curds. Again nothing good to say about any of these items. They were lackluster in flavor as well as the portions being very small for what they charge. They need to up their game here. The food is not worth the money as well as the staff being rude and untrained. I've been in the service industry for over 20 years and this place needs some serious work. read more

Nice spot for breakfast along the water. We were seated at a window seat overlooking the pond, with a view of the lake across the street. This place could use an update but at the same time I liked the old school charm. The Farmers omelet was a gut buster packed with veggies, hash browns and breakfast meats covered in sausage gravy. Our other dish was corned beef and eggs which was served hot but the biscuit and gravy was not as hot as it should have been. Our server was wonderful. All in all a good spot for breakfast. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and also a Friday Fish Fry. read more

Excellent spot on the SW edge of Lake Cadillac. Opened 1956, became Burke's in 1982, this is definitely one of the best places to eat and drink in the Cadillac-Lake City area. They have some amazing breakfasts! And the waitresses and hostesses are awesome. shout out to Aria for the excellent service. best things we had for breakfast: Breakfast Burrito (oh my god this was surprisingly good! scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese, diced green peppers, onions, wrapped in a flour tortilla and covered w/ burrito sauce and cheese; and it comes w/ side of crispy hash browns. SO GOOD!!) Eggs Benedict (real good; classic dish served with crispy hashbrowns) and their Coffee is good! comes in these nice big mugs. Great spot. Highly recommended. read more

Pros: Food was decent and the view on the water was nice and peaceful. Server was nice. Location is 2.5 miles off the highway so convenient location. Cons: The service overall was not good. Had to wait 15 minutes for anyone to even greet us when we arrived. Then an additional 15 minutes to be seated. (This is on a Monday for lunch). The server took a long time which is tough with young kids. The woman who bused the tables was extremely strange and rudely saying "excuse me!" several times when we weren't in her way. She was almost intentionally coming out to say that to my kids every time they stood up from our outside table (because we were trying to keep them entertained with how long the food was taking). It will be a five star place once they fix the staffing/understaffing issues. read more

Saw on google that this was a breakfast and brunch place. Got there at 11:45 on a sunday. It isn't advertised obviously that breakfast ends at 11:30. We ordered coffees and then left. Saw 3 other tables sit down, realize there was no more breakfast, and then leave. Beautiful views and attentive staff. I can't give a review about the food since we didn't eat anything, but seems like a poor business decision to stop serving breakfast before 1ish. The setting is a beautiful location, right on the water. The atmosphere feels like light nautical. Comfy. I ordered the open face turkey dinner along with the salad bar! The bad is the bread is plain store bought white bread. The turkey was very good as was the gravy.  I got Sweet potato casserole as the side. It was good, but I didn't like the nut topping. The salad bar and soup were fresh and tasty, but overpriced. The service was bad! She would disappear for large periods of time. Leaving me needing refills, the check, or any assistance. Overall I'd give 3 1/2 stars. The nice location and atmosphere is enough for me to round up to 4. Would I return? Yes. read more

Super pleased of how the food was. They have great cheese curds that are sooo tasty they weren't burnt or undone. They were cooked just right. I had their onions and they were pretty good. They were super big. I had their bacon cheese burger it was very good. Make sure you come with a big appetite because it's a really big burger. And it's just the right price. The only reason why it isn't a 5 is because there were some bugs flying around while we were trying to eat. But I get it we are right by a waterfront. read more
