I called their store at 5:38 pm today. The friendliest gentleman answered my question about a potential repair to my watch and invited me to stop by, even though they close at 6 pm. When I arrived just minutes after hanging up, he was very welcoming at my arrival. He offered to take a look at my watch immediately. It took less than two minutes and the repair was complete! I was amazed! He certainly exceeded my expectations on all fronts! This seems to be a small mom and pop shop, tucked away in a shopping center and I'm so glad I found this gem!

My wife had some jewelry that needed to be repaired, her tennis bracelet, and a heart necklace that had lost a diamond. I took them to Burland Jewelry Center, a family owned business that has been in the Valley for 39 years. They were able to repair both pieces at a very reasonable price. Both pieces looked brand new again, and my wife was happy with the results. They also do appraisals custom and designer engagement rings they have a wide selection of diamonds, watches, and rings. A dear friend of mine bought me a tennis bracelet many years ago. After several years of wear and tear it broke. I've taken it to several jewelers and I was told with the AZ sun and dust it's just a matter of time until it happens again. My friend that had given it to me is no longer with us and the risk of losing was one I didn't want to take. However, I didn't want it collecting dust in my jewelry box. Trish @ Burland Jewelers (one of the owners)came up with the idea of putting it on a bracelet and then suggested we use the remaining pieces for earrings. This is a family owned business that I found through yelp and so thankful I did!! If you are in the market for custom beautiful jewelry from a locally owned family business, they definitely have my recommendation!!

Less than an hour and $45 later, my engagement ring was sized up to a 6.5 from a 5.5. 09/21/15

The ring & bands were custom made, and Trish was always extremely helpful & bent backwards to make sure everything was perfect.

To be honest, I'm surprised I'm writing this review, but our experience in our recent visit made it…read moreso we're definitely never returning, and would highly recommend people go elsewhere for their needs. The first time my fiancée and I visited, we were freshly engaged and needed her ring sized a bit smaller (from a 6). We saw that Schmitt had good reviews and it was in our neighborhood, so we paid them a visit. During our first visit, the employees (a young woman and a gentleman who was billed as sort of the "expert" on ring resizing) were very kind to us and worked with us to determine the correct size to go down to on the ring. The gentleman was extremely insistent that we need to go all the way down to a 5 and, despite the fact that my fiancée was honestly and vocally uncomfortable with it, we trusted his expertise (after all, we had gone in seeking advice) and paid to have it resized to a 5. Fast forward almost a year of us convincing ourselves a 5 was the right size, my fiancée is at this point having extreme anxiety about how much effort (and pain) it takes to put on & take off the ring every day, and we decide size 5 is simply too small. While a 5 fits her finger fine once the ring was on, getting it over the last knuckle is difficult and painful, and has been leaving the skin on her knuckle irritated and inflamed. Yes, Schmitt was wrong (and confidently, emphatically wrong), but we understand that nobody is perfect and we were totally willing to trust them again to get it right this time. However, when we visited this time, the energy we were given by the employee who "greeted" us at the door (an older woman with gray hair wearing a ton of jewelry) was immediately hostile. When we explained our situation and that we were hoping to have the ring resized (and obviously willing to pay to have it done), the woman was flippant and condescending and not AT ALL consultative. Without seeming to give it much thought, the woman asked if we wanted to go to a 5.75. While we were open to this, we pointed out that the previous gentleman we worked with was insistent that a 5 (from a 6) was the right size, so we were hesitant to go all the way back three quarters of a size so easily. The woman suggested that my fiancée's knuckle "must have grown an entire size" in the time since our first visit. She then again asked us if we wanted to go to a 5.75, with the impression that she didn't really want to go back-and-forth any longer. I understand that ring sizing is a sort of imperfect science and that bodies (and fingers) DO change, but the energy and attitude we received was seriously off-putting and, frankly, unwelcoming. We probably don't look or dress like most of Schmitt's customers, but we are nice people and can afford to shop there (not that that should matter). We left Schmitt's and took the ring to another local jeweler (see my other reviews) the same day where we received excellent, friendly, and consultative service. Turns out you can put beads on the inside of a ring that is slightly too big to help balance things out! My fiancée now has a perfectly-fitting ring, size 6 with two small beads on the inside to help stabilize it once over her knuckle. We gave Schmitt's an honest chance even after they messed up badly the first time, and they blew it. Please go elsewhere.

Great service! Really listen to what you want and help you create it! Their repair work is…read moreexcellent too.
