The very careless team took the ring down to the basement, out of my sight and possession, where they do all the jewelry work, only to inform me that the diamond had a massive chip in it. I was told to lie to my fiancé about it so that she wouldn't be upset. LIE TO MY NEW FIANCE ABOUT THE $28,000 RING I JUST BAUGHT HER?! Maybe they are fine with lying at Molina/Black, Starr & Frost - I'm not. Devasted by the news, we were told that everything was our fault, after taking immaculate care of the diamond and again, only wearing the ring for TWO WEEKS! Mr. Molina refused to accept a return of the diamond, replace the diamond, or offer any sort of warranty whatsoever. The only "solution" he provided was to reduce the diamond by 20% - wonderful! Will you reduce the cost of the flawed diamond by 20% as well? Now we are in an insurance hell and my fiancé has been crying about it since we left. I was greeted by the loveliest hostess, and made quite comfortable in absolutely gorgeous surroundings. I was then handed over to one of the most fabulous sales people I have ever had the joy of working with. Her name is Janet Steinbrenner. Janet was absolutely one of the most knowledgeable, down to earth and gracious people I have ever met in my life! I had a very high-quality sapphire stone on a ring that is incredibly important to me and that I absolutely love. She made an additional recommendation for a small halo of diamonds to be put around the sapphire. It absolutely made my ring sing and was perfectly executed! From the beginning of the process to the finished work, and getting my ring back, this review barely describe how happy I am with the work and this company. Whether you need simple work done or something spectacular this is the place for you! There are so many scams in the world of jewelry, and being with a company that goes out of their way to be honest and upfront about everything is hard to find. The first time my fiancée and I visited, we were freshly engaged and needed her ring sized a bit smaller (from a 6). We saw that Schmitt had good reviews and it was in our neighborhood, so we paid them a visit. During our first visit, the employees (a young woman and a gentleman who was billed as sort of the "expert" on ring resizing) were very kind to us and worked with us to determine the correct size to go down to on the ring. The gentleman was extremely insistent that we need to go all the way down to a 5 and, despite the fact that my fiancée was honestly and vocally uncomfortable with it, we trusted his expertise (after all, we had gone in seeking advice) and paid to have it resized to a 5. Fast forward almost a year of us convincing ourselves a 5 was the right size, my fiancée is at this point having extreme anxiety about how much effort (and pain) it takes to put on & take off the ring every day, and we decide size 5 is simply too small. While a 5 fits her finger fine once the ring was on, getting it over the last knuckle is difficult and painful, and has been leaving the skin on her knuckle irritated and inflamed. Yes, Schmitt was wrong (and confidently, emphatically wrong), but we understand that nobody is perfect and we were totally willing to trust them again to get it right this time. However, when we visited this time, the energy we were given by the employee who "greeted" us at the door (an older woman with gray hair wearing a ton of jewelry) was immediately hostile. When we explained our situation and that we were hoping to have the ring resized (and obviously willing to pay to have it done), the woman was flippant and condescending and not AT ALL consultative. Without seeming to give it much thought, the woman asked if we wanted to go to a 5.75. While we were open to this, we pointed out that the previous gentleman we worked with was insistent that a 5 (from a 6) was the right size, so we were hesitant to go all the way back three quarters of a size so easily. The woman suggested that my fiancée's knuckle "must have grown an entire size" in the time since our first visit. She then again asked us if we wanted to go to a 5.75, with the impression that she didn't really want to go back-and-forth any longer. I understand that ring sizing is a sort of imperfect science and that bodies (and fingers) DO change, but the energy and attitude we received was seriously off-putting and, frankly, unwelcoming. We probably don't look or dress like most of Schmitt's customers, but we are nice people and can afford to shop there (not that that should matter). We left Schmitt's and took the ring to another local jeweler (see my other reviews) the same day where we received excellent, friendly, and consultative service. Turns out you can put beads on the inside of a ring that is slightly too big to help balance things out! My fiancée now has a perfectly-fitting ring, size 6 with two small beads on the inside to help stabilize it once over her knuckle. We gave Schmitt's an honest chance even after they messed up badly the first time, and they blew it. Please go elsewhere.

I got a call saying the repairer was not able to complete the job due to the size of the clasp i chose (it was meant for small dainty bracelets, not necklaces and it'll cost me $429.99 to get the correct sized clasp. i told them no and they said they'll send my necklaces back the following business day. And didn't hear anything back until thursday saying they COMPLETED the job and to pick it up... however i assumed they just sent the message to let me know it was ready for pickup not that they actually completed a job when i told them NO. When i picked up the nice older lady was very talkative to the point i didn't actually notice they added the small clasp. i was under the impression the job was not going to be done and id get a refund but no. even with the courtesy call, my direct no to complete or upgrade the clasp... they still did it and it came off within the week like they repairer said... however i had taken the recommendation and did not want the small clasp. the ladies were nice except the pregnant one celine or whatever.. she should've told or recommended me a size difference the first time i came in (i picked what looked familiar i had no idea) and the second time (pick up day) she looked so over it when i didn't have my physical ID but it scanned with the ID app the other lady was so nice to me i didn't realize the other one was not having it or idk maybe she felt ignored in the moment. My beef is to the one who called me tbh they should've told the repairer NO. and not done any work on my necklace. i didn't check it because i was under the impression they hadn't touched it and my money would be returned and i forgot to ask about my refund in the moment because i was having a good time talking. When my bf checked my chain he realized they had done the work and i already signed off so im not getting a refund lol. i wouldn't come back nor would i recommend this place. that was kinda shady in my opinion. i understand if i had said yes continue the job but i did not and i do not appreciate this at all. i could've lost or broken my pendant.
