Things are generally well stocked, and the staff will glady check to see if there's anything in the back in case the staff haven't had a chance to restock a particular shelf yet. Only real caveats are that the pharmacy doesn't adertise what they only carry behind the counter (diabetic supplies) so you have to ask, and the in-store Pizza Hut is a ghost-station (as always). I do wish the Starbucks would re-open the area they closed down during the pandemic, but that modification seems like it's permanent, for now at least.

In the city of Chicago, you are a charged a bag tax, in order to discourage the use of plastic bags. As such, I brought my own reusable shopping bag, to carry my items out of the store. When I found a pair of shoes I liked, I put them in my reusable shopping bag to hold as I continued my rounds around the store. The manager approached me and communicated that it was not ok to do this. I explained that I intended on purchasing them, but was just using the bag to carry them around the store as I continued my search, instead of carrying them in my hand. I asked if he would rather I hold them in my hand. He said he could hold the shoes at the front. I really did not like that interaction, the way he spoke to or treated me, and his lack of understanding, but ultimately, I understood and cooperated. Despite this interaction, I continued to look for shoes. I found another pair, that I was now holding in my hand and was not in the bag. The manager approached me again and this time told me I had to leave the store because I had put the original pair of shoes in my reusable bag. Mind you, this entire time, I had never so much as gone near the exit of the store. I was simply looking at shoes, more toward the back. With the manager ready to escort me out of the store, I approached the check out area stating that I wanted to buy the shoes. He said I needed to go and it was a corporate policy. I asked if I could talk to his boss. He stated that he was the manager, or maybe even a position higher than that ( I don't recall the title) and that there was no one else I could talk to. I said "how does that make sense, that you are a store and you don't want me to buy these shoes" (the ones being held at the counter and the ones that were in my hand). I had to argue with him about buying shoes in a shoe store! Finally he agreed, and a cashier rung up the pair of shoes I had in my hand ( which I only purchased because they were on clearance and the last ones, and this was the day before the occasion I needed them for-Easter, so I was on a time crunch). He said that he could give me a customer service number to call. I asked his name, and he said Fernando. Who knows if it truly was his name. After I purchased the shoes I said "is it ok to put them in my bag now?" I was treated like a criminal and I bought the shoes anyway. I was so upset, that for the first time ever I called a customer service line to file a complaint. Naturally they listened to appease me, and I gave my contact information for follow up, but ultimately no follow up and nothing was done. Needless to say I will never return.

But if you're looking for basics, comfortable shoes, that are very reasonably priced, this is a good spot to check out. Parking is easy--there's a big lot. It's also in a strip mall with a bunch of other stores, such as Dollar Tree and Joann Fabrics. The staff were kind. I chose 4 stars because, although it has the types of shoes I was looking for, it doesn't have a big variety of colors or certain types of shoes. In fact, the cashier seemed to take it personally that I requested a paper receipt and proceeded to dangle it mid-air as if she was afraid that our fingers might touch. What poor customer service here. The employees who were there today could use a lot more customer service & diversity training. I'm sure that J Crew would not want to be represented in this way.

I now found myself in a situation of that nightmare customer that would make the transaction that more complicated for the associate behind the register. JB took care of my returns and he was patient, kind, and professional at all times and he made my returns run smoothly and quickly. Apparently this store doesn't believe in following company policy and make their own rules. They insist that a receipt or loyalty number to look up the receipt is required. They will not return without a receipt and issue store merchandise. This is the only store that I had the issue with on 3 different occasions. Cashiers always have horrible attitude as if you are bothering them.
