Wow just when I thought this place couldn't get any worse I was proven wrong. Last Christmas season, I wasted an hour of my life driving to this Burlington Coat Factory and searching the entire store for clothing that wasn't complete and total garbage. Ten years ago this Burlington had a good selection of brand named clothing from a handful of my favorite designers. The store was far from upscale but they did have tall wooden shelves/aisles that they hung the clothing from. The aisles had signs that informed customers the type and size of clothing they could expect to find there. For reasons that defy logic, they've decided to get rid of all of the wooden shelves/aisles and decided to replace them with long cheap metal racks. The long metal racks make the store look poor cheap and grungy. Since their brainless decision to redecorate the store in order to make it look worse, I have slowly found it harder and harder to find the discounted brand name clothing they used to sell. One reason for this is because a lot of the clothing is completely disorganized. I could be browsing a rack of clothes looking for pants for a 12 year old and find toddler pajamas on the same rack. It's all mixed together! Another reason why I can't seem to find any nice brand named clothes anymore is because they only sell cheap ugly no name clothing now. Not only is the no name clothing cheap and ugly, it is almost always made from extremely cheap fabric and poorly put together (lopsided shirts with loose stitching etc). To add insult to injury, they try charge way too much money for all of the ugly cheap clothes they are now selling. Even though the store has gone way downhill over the past few years I could usually find a few really nice brand named items of clothing towards the front of the store in front of the escalators. On my last visit last Christmas season I entered the I store and while attempting to grab hold of a shopping cart I discovered the one I had wasn't working properly because there was so much HUMAN HAIR stuck around the wheel that it wouldn't move!!! I took a look at the floor and it was absolutely filthy!! After muttering a few profanities under my breath (like "this is f***n disgusting...") I discovered that they no longer have brand name clothes toward the front of the store. Instead they had decided to put long ugly metal clothing racks with cheap, dirty, disorganized and overpriced no name clothes in the area where they used to have a few racks of nice brand name clothing. They also added a bunch of cheap ugly displays which had a bunch of very cheap Christmas stuff displayed on them. The Christmas merchandise on the displays was so cheap and unappealing, it was the type of stuff that, if given to me, would've wound up in the trash. I'm really disappointed with all of the horrible changes that have taken place at Burlington and miss all of the good deals and good clothing I once enjoyed. read more

I'm absolutely appalled by the condition of this store. Both the male and female bathrooms are absolutely horrible. There were feces smeared on toilets in each respective stall and there were no toilet liners provided. My girlfriend does not feel comfortable using the bathroom nor does she feel comfortable putting a child on the changing station. read more

Usually we find great bargains on good quality clothes here that we usually don't find elsewhere. I would have given this store a 4-star, except for the experience we just had. Just skip the next two paragraphs to get to the highlights: We just returned from the Fairfax Burlington Coat Factory where we bought several things. We also had in our cart a women's Calvin Klein belt that did not have a price tag. The cashier called the relevant service person to do a price check. The person took the belt, and did not return for almost 10 minutes, while we and the cashier waited. I then decided to go and check where the service person was. She was looking through the belts trying to find a Calvin Klein belt. She told me she had to find a Calvin Klein belt since that is more expensive. I quickly looked through the belts and found a Calvin Klein belt. It was marked $7.98. She said no, it has to be more expensive. I found another Calvin Klein belt which was marked $12.98. She still was not satisfied. She said she needed to find a Manager to make a decision. A manager was called, Maria, who again went looking for a Calvin Klein belt along with the service person who was helping us. Again they took several minutes until again I went looking after them. The manager didn't respond to my questions as to what had been decided regarding the price of the belt. The service person returned with another belt marked "$14.99" and said this is the price. I asked why, since none of the belts had any similarity except they were all Calvin Klein. She said we don't know the price, but Calvin Klein is expensive brand, so $14.99 is the price. I pointed out that they also had two other Calvin Klein belts which were priced lower, with nothing in common. Why decide on the higher price if there is nothing except the brand in common. The manager at this point replied that we can leave our phone number and they will call another store and get the price and call us back. I refused to buy the belt and refused to leave my number. The highlights of my experience: 1. I made to wait for over 20 minutes for a simple price check, 2. The Manager, Maria, decided that the price of the belt had to be "expensive" with no reason, and no comparison between the different belts even of the same brand. 3. It was really hard for the store manager to take a simple decision like the price of a belt without being rude and dismissive, and even though I was willing to wait 20 minutes for a belt I finally decided I was better off without buying that belt. This used to be one of the best Burlington stores I have visited, it seems to be taking a turn for the worse. read more

Every time I go into this store I swear it will be the last time. This time I'm sure of it. I always have issues here. Today, I found a couple of cute items on the clearance rack. When I got to the register the reader wouldn't read the sales ticket. The gentleman, who acted as though he'd rather be anywhere but there, sent a woman off to find out what the "right" price was as he said it was priced too low. Okay, then why was Burlington's price tag on. Do you really think I would spend the time pealing a sticker off another item and putting on the one I want to buy. That's exactly how the checker made me feel. Then, this guy wandered off to work on something electrical at another station. After 10 minutes, the slow moving turtle that was sent to find out the price still hadn't returned. Not sure how she planned on figuring out the price since this was the only sweater in the section like it. After another 5 minutes I was able to get the checker's attention. His comment, "She hasn't come back yet?" Nice that you noticed dude. I told him I simply couldn't wait any longer. All that fuss and frustration over a little $10 sweater. One other time I tried to buy a bikini and when I went to check out they said that the bottom didn't go with the top although they were connected together. After arguing with the sales lady about it, I handed her the other items I wanted to purchase and walked out of the store. While this store used to have really cute things, over the past year it seems as though all they are peddling now is the junk from three years ago that still hasn't sold. That combined with the shitty employees I've dealt with has made me decide that, even though this store is minutes from my office, I would much rather spend four times as much money on clothing and shop at Nordstrom from now on. At least I know I will get good quality items from pleasant staff. Au revoir et bonne riddence Burlington. You've just lost my business permanently. read more

This is a very hit or miss for the Plus Size section - more miss and the bathrooms are horrid, like a zombie is going to kill you in there. I hope they've fixed that, I go to the one in manassas. read more

I remember going into this store a few years back and being unhappy with the experience, but I couldn't remember exactly why. So, I stopped in yesterday to see if I could find a winter coat. I get that Burlington Coat Factory's slogan is "we're more than great coats," but where were the great coats? Slim pickins' there, my friends! I strolled around a bit and checked out the second floor, which was practically devoid of any displays or appropriate shelving. It was like they are working on dumping the existing inventory without announcing a closing... Actually, that is exactly what if felt like! A closeout sale without all those cute 75% off signs! I doubt that I'll have trouble remembering what made me unhappy in the future. Don't waste precious time here, unless you need gaudy gold jewelry for your pirate costume next Halloween. This location sucks!!! IMO. Their selections are limited, the store is always in disarray and the clothing looks outdated.

Every time I step in this store -- which is often since my office is right across the street -- I find all of the check-out assistants to be very friendly and efficient. This Burlington is one of the more organized ones and it has great clothing selection, especially designer clothes. Only complaint is that the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and probably the worst public bathrooms I've ever seen. read more

I purchased a jacket a week ago and the store tried to pull a fast one on me , saying they cannot accept returns cause it's damaged. I only wore the jacket once and did not like it and it had some lint...they also claimed the item was not on my receipt which is they sold me something with a wrong tag....all in all a frustrating experience when it comes to returns. read more

I frequent this Burlington Coat Factory location about once a week. I love it so much. I always find great deals on workout clothes, shoes, and regular clothes. The home section is also very well stocked. Most of the items I buy are marked down (hence why I can afford to shop there so often). The staff is very friendly and helpful when you ask questions. It is clean, organized and the deals/selection is better than competitors like TJmaxx, Marshalls and Ross. read more

Fatima (the manager) is very rude to her employees and has attitude toward customers. We had to deal with her twice, and she was very rude both times. She gives you a look, she rolls her eyes, and yells at the employee that was assisting us. Everybody was helpful and polite expect her. read more

I come here once every month or so, its usually well stocked & orderly. The staff is helpful enough. I usually look for sales/clearance items and they have plenty. Love all the other items (non-clothing) as well, its a big store w/ a lot of different items. I will continue to shop here as long as they are in business! read more

This location has a large selling space on 2 levels. The woman's, children's and housewares department all appear to have a decent selection; however, the men's department is seriously lacking in merchandise availability and selection when compared to Woodbridge and Bailey Crossroads; This is especially true for the Men's Suits, Coats and Big and Tall departments. read more

I used to like this store fine for its deals, but then I tried the online store in December. I was charged a lot for shipping, which I accepted, because it's a coat (not exactly a small or light item). Well, it didn't fit. Per the website, I assumed I could just bring it back to the store. So, I drove 45 minutes to my nearest Burlington Northern with the coat, the strangely incomplete receipt that came in the box with the coat, and a print-out of my order confirmation just in case. But they wouldn't return the item. It had its tags on, was unworn, etc., but apparently what they needed was to see a bar code in my shipping confirmation email. Fine, I thought. I went on my phone to find this email, and it wasn't there! I confirmed later at home: I was never sent a shipping confirmation email. They offered to let me return the coat in the store for store credit, but at this point it was clear that I was NEVER doing business with this store again, ever. Talk about fine print and garbage! I ended up paying another $15 to mail the coat back so that I could get some amount of refund. What a waste of money, time, and frustration. As I said, I'm never doing business with them again, in store or online. And I definitely recommend you at least avoid purchasing online. This is not a reliable store. I love Burlington Coat Factory!! This is the place where I tell myself to keep on driving by so I won't stop and spend more money. I like this location 10X better than the one out in Woodbridge, simply because it's much cleaner. It is true that it may be a bit of a hit or miss, but most of the times I go here I always leave with something. You've all the clothing downstairs and the home decor along with bed & bath upstairs. The home decor area can get a little bit messy on occasion but I think they are trying to clean that up a bit. When I say messy I do mean messy by this store's standards, not the one by Potomac Mills. I've always been pleased with the things I buy here, mostly the coats and summer wear. I've paid 80% less on items bought here than if I bought it at another spot. Usually if I can't find something in TJ Maxx, I'll go to Burlington and I always find something there. Be sure to take the free survey (annoying I know) but you can at least save 10% (tax) on the next item you buy and it may prompt you to go again. I would recommend this store to anyone who has the time to look for new clothing and for a good sale! read more

I bought a pair of pants for my toddler at Sterling location and notice when I got home that it was over priced for just a pair of pants so I returned it the next day at Fairfax location. The lady gave me an attitude saying they couldn't accept my return because that pant is not worth 20.00. I said that is why I was returning them it is because they are overpriced. And she said it is because it was supposed to come with a top or something. Well that wasn't my fault if it was missing the top. I bought it without the top so I'm returning it without the top. She told me to return it to sterling where I bought it from. Isn't this the same company that I can return on either location. I told her I'm returning in that location because I wanted to check the store out because I already shop at the other location yesterday and wanted to see if they have different things. Her response is "it doesn't matter". She eventually refunded me but after the nasty attitude and long time of begging. read more

I wasn't pleased with the customer service @this location. I purchased a Izod leather jacket in October and less than two months later it just ripped apart on the front my guess is it was dry rotten. I called ahead and spoke with a manager and explained my situation and I also mentioned I don't have my receipt I was told to bring it back and they will take care of me ,when I got there they told me they couldn't help me a big inconvenience read more

I love this place. They have a great selection of clothes, purses, and housewares. Their Jewelry section is a little messy sometimes, but other than that it's a great "go-to" spot if you need a quick cute outfit for a wedding or other outing! read more
