Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Hiring Process and Store Management - North Las Vegas, NV Store Dear Talent Acquisition Team and Human Resources, I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding my recent experience with the hiring process at your Burlington store located at 2189 W. Craig Road, North Las Vegas, NV 89032. I believe the issues I experienced warrant review by Corporate Human Resources because they involve inconsistent hiring practices, poor communication, unprofessional management conduct, customer service concerns, and potential compliance issues related to equal employment opportunity and disability accommodations. I am a protected disabled female veteran who applied for the Retail Shortage Control - Part-Time position. On January 29, 2026, I attended a group interview conducted by Ron. At the conclusion of the interview, all candidates were informed that we would receive an email with the hiring decision by the end of the business day. I never received any notification regarding the outcome of my interview. Beginning July 1, 2026, I made numerous attempts to follow up on my application. I was repeatedly told that the individual I needed to speak with was unavailable. On July 2, I was informed that he was in a meeting, then at lunch, and later that he had already left for the day. On July 3, I was placed on hold several times and was repeatedly told it would only be a few more minutes before someone spoke with me. After remaining on hold for 1 hour and 16 minutes, I drove to the store to request assistance in person. When I arrived, I requested to speak with the manager on duty, Deb. I was informed that she would not speak with me. While shopping and completing a purchase, I remained on hold for an additional 35 minutes before finally ending the call. Regardless of the hiring outcome, I found this level of customer service to be unacceptable. Later, I was contacted by Alison and scheduled for two additional interviews on July 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. for the Retail Sales Associate and Retail Stocking Associate positions. Prior to those interviews, I again called the store to inquire about the status of my original application and spoke with Melanie, who was courteous and advised me that I would receive an update by the end of the day. Instead, I received an email stating: "Hi Caroline, it's Allison with Burlington Stores. We are sorry to learn that you are no longer interested in an opportunity with Burlington. We wish you all the best in your job search." This email was confusing because I had never withdrawn my application or indicated that I was no longer interested in employment with Burlington. Shortly afterward, I received notification that my 11:00 a.m. interview had been cancelled. I immediately called the store and spoke with Cindy, who was professional and courteous. She explained that she did not have access to the interview schedule and that no one was available to assist her. She suggested that I still arrive for my 11:30 a.m. interview. While driving to the store, I received another email cancelling that interview as well. I called the store once more and was transferred to Deborah. During that conversation, she informed me that I had not been selected for the original position because I was "not qualified." I attempted to explain the repeated scheduling issues, conflicting emails, and the fact that Burlington's website continued to advertise the same open positions while I was simultaneously receiving invitations to reschedule interviews. Rather than addressing my concerns, Deborah repeatedly interrupted me, raised her voice, stated that all positions had been filled, instructed me to "check my spam," and ultimately told me that I was not wanted on the Burlington team. Because the conversation had become unproductive and increasingly unprofessional, I ended the call. Based on these events, I cannot determine whether my treatment was influenced by my age, gender, disability, veteran status, or another factor. However, as a protected disabled veteran, I believe the circumstances warrant review to ensure Burlington's hiring practices comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) requirements, and Burlington's own employment policies. Stay away. This Burlington's location is horribly managed. There were only 2 cashiers and a line wrapping almost the entire width of the store. It looked like Black Friday on an early Friday night in the middle of May! What? There was no special sale or occasion. Walked in to this Burlington and the loss prevention d{o}uche was PERSONALLY insulted when I didn't respond to him as he said hello to me.. he proceeded to follow me until I asked for a manager, and then he yelled at me. I asked him if he was okay, and he said he wasn't. Once a manager came, she had no idea what she was doing because she was very young and inexperienced, sad to say. Ultimately, she told me that she did not know both sides to the story so essentially she wasn't going to do anything. She probably shouldn't be put in a managerial position as she seems to not be able to comprehend basic reports from potential patrons. She should work in a position where she is not responsible for any sort of decision making on a businesses behalf. Also, I think she may have been on something, who knows.. she just didn't seem to be able to compute reality. She also didn't seem concerned about my experience nor with the fact that the loss prevention associate said he was not okay. Those both seem like serious and logical complaints to me. She was just happy as pie with allowing someone, that greets patrons as they enter into the business in an asinine and aggressive way, to continue about their work shift. This store not only lost out on my money, but moving forward, I will NEVER visit another Burlington again. And by the way, this was the first time that I have ever been to a Burlington. I heavily recommend that you do not ever visit this store unless you would like to get verbally assaulted by the loss prevention employee serving his time in the dark corners of the store. I will be following up with the store and speaking with higher managerial authority in the next coming days to report not only the loss prevention associate, but also the "manager" associate. This type of behavior is not acceptable from people who claim a check that they do not earn. This location has the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. At checkout, 4 employees were at the registers but only 2 were checking out customers. The other 2 stood there ignoring the long line and sorted through clothes that needed to be put back. 5 different potential customers left their items in line and left. I waited in line for 20 mins, before I went to go look for a manager. I found a gentleman working. When I asked him if there is someone that can help, he was rude, dismissive and just walked off. It's like a better version of Ross and DD's, the store was fairly clean and organized. I was greeted when I walked in, they have each area labeled above head was easy to navigating through the store. I just needed to grab dress shoes for my little girl super quickly I found a few shoes that were decent and her size which felt like my lucky day. Prices were very good too. I was disrespected at Burlington today. 1/10/25. While I was there I found some sweats that I liked. Went to pay for them and was treated like a common criminal. They acted as if I had made a counterfeit. When I stated I just got this from the bank which I did and pulled out 4 more 100 dollar bills. They wanted to take my money then. Because I am black I am now a theif. I have a good job. To be disrespected like that is unforgivable. I watched a lady 2 registers down pay with a 100 dollar bill as well. After todays visit, and I horrible visit last week at a different (rainbow/lake mead) I very highly doubt I will ever shop at Burlington ever again. I was returning an item I had bought at the rainbow/lake mead location that had a broken seal (hair product). That's unsafe & of course wouldn't use it. I walked in to this store about a half hour after opening. The front door had a barricade stopping people from entering. There was no security person or store employee standing there to let anyone in. I helped myself to the rope & went to get in line for the return. There was approximately 10 people in front of me. I tried to peak over the line barricade & cod see 2 lights on at the registers. Well, after 15 minutes I got around the corner of the line to see 2 lights on but one cashier. Are you kidding me? By this time there were more people in line behind me. I stood in line for at least 30 minutes to return one item. And that poor cashier. Well no, I take that back. She wasn't even nice. She didn't greet me or apologize for the ridiculous wait time & by that point, I wad pissed & had to bite my tongue not to complain. When I made my return, which was purchased using my debit, she handed me cash back. I said no I want it back on my card. Oh no, we can't do that since it was debit. AYFKM? This is 2023 & they can't put my purchase return back to my debit? Today sealed Burlington's fate after my horrible experience the previous week at the other location (yes, I left a Yelp review for that too). It seemed like each BCF has drastically changed from when it first opened its doors. Before, it's basically just coats of all styles for each individual. Now it's a bunch of clothes wear, not much coats, and house wares. But, most places I visited and checked, it's like a discount store where clothes, kitchen house wares, luggage, & accessories were everywhere and staff attempting but unsuccessfully of keeping the place presentable.
