Once upon a time, there was a store located in Sacramento, on Florin Rd. That store was known as Burlington Coat Factory, and it used to be the greatest store ever. The staffs were always dressed up professionally, stylish, neat, and different everyday, and they were all welcoming. The many departments they once had were also awesome: linens, accessories, sportswear, coats to baby depot were all great departments to explore as they stocked new items occasionally. The store was so great and they had the greatest merchandises, that the only thing they lacked was not having enough security to protect their assets. Burlington stood out from all other competitors out there, which made it big and an attraction to many people from cities that didn't have Burlington store. But, today it is pretty sad that Burlington has downgraded to become just like another DD Discount and Ross(just another small retail store in the city). DD Discount and Ross are already great for being small retail stores. Definitely a lot of discrimination. The security guard win walking in, stopped me and then let me enter but he did not stop. The lady who was behind me.. then I was followed in the store and literally watched like a hawk. I had my daughter with me no bags, not giving any indication of stealing. I was followed around so bad that I had to flash my money at him. Let him leave me alone. Every African-American Customer that came in the supervisor, followed them around, literally aisle from aisle. Even a man who came in the store with his son he was followed as well. All Hispanics and white people were not. Just because you live on a certain side of town or work on a certain side of town doesn't mean everybody is ignorant, struggling, or whatever you want to think. Drove in to buy a suitcase last minute. The price tag was mis-marked by the store. Two people haggled with me over a $20 price increase because the store tagged the product incorrectly. They demanded the higher price of $20 or no sale. I asked them to honor the tag that was visible and the guy behind the counter laughed. This review may be not necessary but it's just an appreciation, I haven't been to this store in over a decade and I just thought to swing by to visit since I always drive by this place when I'm in town and question how this place has so much business and is still running strong after so many years. Well now I understand, the staff particularly the loss prevention man was very kind and welcoming everyone in to the store just as common courtesy which makes a difference in people's day like myself! The whole stuff looks in good shape and it's not messy like other competitors near them, they had a huge selection of toys, clothes, game accessories, etc. it kind of surprised me and I would personally return back just to shop because the prices are reasonable. SITREP My work-buddy Charles T. and I hit up Burlington Coat Factory because we heard about the good Clearance deals that were going on which are the best times to go explore. However, there isn't always a guaranteee that the pricing will be commensurate with the expectations for a bargain. These days, even if a store is noted as a "Factory Outlet" or an "Off-The-Rack" outlet for a department store/ fashion line, it doesn't always translate to the deals one would expect to find. The old Latin adage seems just as appropro today as it was in the bazaars and markets around the Mediterranean 2000 years ago: *CAVEAT EMPTOR!* - Let The Buyer Beware! THE SETUP The store is well laid into very clear demarcated sections. This made it easy to go find what we wanted, and some ways, easier than shopping, say, at Target or Walmart. But certainly not the variety you would want like at a department store. THE CLOTHING SECTIONS * We knew exactly well to go find Suit Separates (a la carte pricing for suit jackets and for slacks each) * We knew exactly where to find Sport Coats - laid out on the racks, divided by chest sizes and Regular versus Tall. * The suits were laid out in their own fashion label kiosks, and so there was a bit more of a variety here than in the sport coat section. * We knew exactly where to go find Shoes, and here where to find our shoe sizes clearly demarcated on the racks. The trick in this section was to see a kind of shoe in your size that would appeal - there weren't much. [In glancing at some of the women's shoe selections, I'll say this that it appears the men garner some of the better deals: shoe and purses prices here don't seem to warrant the same commensurate reductions from department store prices that I see in specific men's items.] However, props to Charles for actually finding a pair of dress shoes that he found useful, and for only $39.99 for the pair. On a related note, their associated store in the same paring lot - MJM Shoes - is right next door, and THIS is actually the place to go look at shoes if you are looking for a better variety. LUGGAGE However, clothing aside, I was more impressed with their various luggage lines, with several big suitcases - with 4 wheel roller bottoms for under $100. Business varieties. Drive all the way from Lincoln to get the store with a half hour left to shop according to hours listed on their website and phone message. To my surprise they were closed and said they just changed their closing time to 9:30 instead of 10. When I told them u drove a long distance to make it before store closed and new what items I wanted, they still refused to let me enter and purchase my item and it was only 3 min after their new closing time! I never write bad reviews, but this had to be written. I had no choice in coming last minute and if I the hrs only and over the phone were updated properly, I wouldn't wasted time or gas! I went there when they first reopened and were having sales , the racka and shelves were empty. Now that time has passed i went again amd it seems to be stocked with more stuff. As soon you enter they have sanitation station with masks. The reason ehy i dont give it 5 stars is because the fitting rooms are "temporarily" closed. I waited around the store for them to open and then asked one of the associates and he said they will not be reopening due to covid. On a very rainy, random trip to Sacramento, my boyfriend and I decided to stop by here to check out what things I could buy for around the house. This Burlington location is a bit more organized than the one I normally go to, especially with their wall art decorations. I enjoyed the decent selection that they did have and I ended up buying a couple of items. The customer service was about average, which isn't a bad thing. I didn't have to wait in a long line at all, but then again I think most people decided to avoid going out due to the weather. read more

I had a coworker at an old job who used to swear by the clothes at Burlington. She was a cute dresser with great style, but I didn't take her recommendation because I worked/lived nowhere near the store. Flash forward to now: I work near Burlington, was driving by during my lunch break and decided to finally check it out. Yeah. Yeaaaaah... It's basically Ross but with higher prices and some overflow stock from designer labels. Some of the clothing racks (I'm looking at YOU, dress aisle) are so damn smushed full of disheveled clothes that I almost dislocated an arm bone wrenching the hangers over. It seems odd that some aisles are so cramped- it's a big store with lots of floor space, surely they could add a few more racks to space the clothing out? (Burlington: No we can't. And don't call us Shirley.) I did like the jewelry and handbag aisle. I found a few cute purses from Betsey Johnson and Nine West. Plus they had a good selection of comforters and bed-in-a-bags in their home area. Still, not terribly impressed with this store. Plus you put 3 staff members at the door (to stop thieves? This is a little less ghetto approach to fashion questing as compared to ROSS or DD's. Many high fashion trends can be found here a little after the ~craze~ flaunting labels such as "Calvin Cline, MK, Anne Kline, Betsy Johnson, Guess and NIKE" to name a few. I pop in whenever I am on the hunt for my favorite scents. Designer perfume is definitely the best value here. There is a fantastic selection of threads for MenXXX always in stock- which can be very limited at most department stores. I like the kitchen supplies... There are always some cool gourmet finds like real vanilla or almond extracts at a reasonable price. There is a fantastic array of candles, even soy based, equally as delicious as Bath and Body 3-wick at a 1/3 of the cost. I am a fan of all the bells and whistles at a fraction of the $$$. read more

The way its set up now to me opens the store up more.I may not have not been here for a good minute, but shes back! I love this store for so many beautiful reasons. They sale what seems like everything, from clothes to houseware and shoes and ect... Its not so much what they sale versus the prices on what they sale. It truly Unbelievable! I am sold on buying the shoes here at Burlington because I can always find brand names for great buys. The majority of the time I come here it is busy. I am a bargin shopper by nature all day. And if you have the patients to shop and to look around /thru the stuff here, especially the clothes you can really come up on some cool and unique items. A least 8 out of 10 times I come I purchase children items, from toys, shoes,coats dresses ect. So much to choose from. I Love the kids section in this store. Honestly I love everything about this store Period. Its also a great place to purchase gifts. The store is big and its clean and the staff is super nice. I personally think that this business runs smoothly considering how busy they are all the time. I think thats good management. I have been in this Burlington twice. They have a nice selection. The store is clean, and very organized. There is also lots of parking. I had really great customer service today. Purchased a cart full of stuff, and had my small child with me. They don't allow the buggies to leave the store. The security guard asked me to pull my car up, and he loaded my bags. I was so thankful, as trying to run back and forth to get bags to the car with a 5 year old would have been a nightmare. Also, had a positive interaction with employee working in Layaway. As we were passing, she said hi to my daughter, who loves to talk. This lead to a positive and meaningful conversation. Two acts of human kindness in one day. Go Burlington. I will definitely be returning. I didn't give it 5 stars because of inconvenience of not being able to take carts out of store. Also, lines were pretty long unnecessarily. Just used there baby depot to make a baby registry. After signing up a clerk came to assist us right away. Asked if we had any questions set up the scanner, explained how it worked and how to close out the registry once we were done. She was very helpful. Looking around for products everything was organized and easy to find. They had a wide selection of products to select from. The only disappointing thing was the price tags were missing off several items I really wanted on my registry. So I couldn't add them. But overall a good experience. read more

Need new management . Nobody is trained on basic customer service 101. Should be an easy experience

Crazy long line and waited 1 hour to checkout. But that is not my issue on why I gave this 2 stars. There was a large family with 6-7 shopping cart in front of me and when they got called to checkout, they all went to the same checkout. When it was my turned, I walked to my checkout station and that family took it! I asked them if they took my checkout station and they denied it. The lady at the checkout told me to go back to the end of the line. I didn't understand why I couldn't go back in front of the line. I started complaining but they weren't listening. I ended up waiting again for another hour to check out. Their prices were good though but their customer service need to bring their A game and not their F game. read more

I love this place. It's like a really cool Ross but way way better. The people are nice and they keep the store clean and organized. Much cheaper than Ross and way way way cleaner than DDs. I come here because I'm a 4XL. I have a hard time finding clothes that fit me. When I do find em they are not usually super cool. At Berlington they have my size and the clothes are awesome! I bought a suit here it was like a 150 bucks. Really cool suit. Just don't try and put anything in the pockets....Lol I also get all my dog treats here. Like 3 bucks. Elsewhere 10 bucks easy. The first time this store appeared in my hood, all I could imagine was that it was a warehouse that massed produced coats. So since I wasn't in need of any coats, I pretty much drove past this store a lot. I also missed the old Montgomery Wards that it replaced. Eventually I came to realize from TV ads, that there was more here than outerwear. But when you enter the parking lot, the first thought that comes to mind is, where IS the parking lot? There's asphalt on the ground, but it's cracked, bumpy, crumbling, and any hint of the painted parking lines have pretty much faded away. I found myself driving in circles looking for a credible spot and probably looking more like a crazy person. Finally, I found some vehicles that appeared in a row, so I lined up by them. While I crossed the lot, all I kept thinking was, that this is so ghetto. But once I entered the store, my bleak outlook changed to a more "OK this isn't so bad" attitude. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see a nice department store with a huge inventory of clothing, assessories, jewelry, housewares, linens, etc, BESIDES their famous never ending selections of coats and jackets. All sizes, all styles, all colors. Everything was neatly organized and the store in general didn't look messy or dirty. (On that day anyway). Most of their prices were really affordable and hard to beat for the quality of the merchandise they had to offer. This place could be your one stop to shop destination. However, my only disappointment was, that as I stood in a long line of people to check out, there was only 2 registers open (out of 16). By the time I reached the front of my line, they finally decided to open 2 more registers. I will return to check this place out again when I have more time and more money. I wondered to myself-where is Dave Chapelle and is there a hidden camera? Did I walk in on a fake reality TV show with velour track suits every fifth row and stunner shades on with fluorescent lighting? Is this some social experiment? Where are the clerks? Apple Bottom Brand Bootie sweatpants are more visible... They didn't fit, but that was only after trying to ring the doorbell to call a cashier to come to unlock a dressing room but one never came... One just happened to be open after the woman and her four children- as she simultaneously yelled at them and gassed on her cellphone, finally got out of the dressing room after 15 minutes. Still there was no cashier to open the other rooms. There are ten guys out front for no apparent reason-they look at you hard as you walk in. Twenty people waiting in line and two check out counters. Thirty screaming babies 60 angry parents saying, "Stop that!" or "The last time I'm gonna tell you, girl, or I'm gonna whoop you!" or "Shut the hell up!" I saw trailing boyfriends/husbands who look visibly pissed to be there. I saw a lot of women traveling around with carts on their cellphones talking smack, "I told that girl to stop!" I know you think I'm making this up-but I'm not. I am just one little woman looking for sweatpants that fit a short woman. Burlington Coat Factory has more than great coats...literally. Seriously surprised! I always knew of BURRRRLLLINGton but never went knowing it's GHETTO. But I broke this and checked it out last November/ December. Yes it's ghetto, yes it's WAY hard to find the right items/sizes on the racks, BUT the deals are actually pretty damn good! A decent amount of clean looking light jackets and such. hell I even looked at leather jackets!? SO weird fr me. But yeah you won;t receive any REAL help from any employees (waited over 20 minutes for someone to open the cologne/perfume case) but if you look hard enough you will find some decent stuff at pretty darned decent prices. Yes you do have to DIG sometimes REALLY hard to find something that isn't emblazoned with some sort or another of hood rich ugliness. But there are clean, name brand articles of clothing here. A friend needed to get some new suits for work and I was pleasantly surprised by this Burlington Coat Factory. The others I've been to seemed to resemble a department store after the apocalypse: irregular merchandise leftover after the looting, lighting run off some guy on an exercise bike and employees just hoping to make it through the day without a raid by a motorcycle gang. But this one was well-lit, nicely designed and the employees obviously took efforts to keep everything straight and tidy. Keeping all the merchandise even close to the right places must be like the beach landings at Normandy: lots of yelling and running, nothing is going how it's supposed to and those Nazi bastards just keep mowing you down. I laugh inside [or sometimes out loud] every time I see someone in Sacramento wearing a fur lined hooded coat. Is that really necessary here? This place does live up to their name with rows and rows of jackets and coats for every weather situation and body type. The prices range from 20$ to 300$ for coats. They also have some brand name shoes and clothes. My husband found two shirts for pretty cheap but it seems like one of those places where you have to hunt a bit to find a good deal. BIG MESS ! I recently came back here to shop for a dress, since i was on a budget, and what do i see,a BIG FAT MESS! This store has not changed at all, after a year, its still messy. It was nearly impossible to browse through any clothes at all since all the clothes were clumped together, and i mean this literally! It made me have a headache, so not worth it. However, shoes and dresses were pretty cute. Burlington just need to get their act together, maybe hire more employees to actually organize everything...Just a tip. As a purveyor of fine suits and accoutrements, I'm often at a quandary as to which establishment to visit. It happened by chance that I found the Burlington Coat Factory tucked away at such a unassuming venue in the public squalor known as Little Saigon. The sheer extent of suits to choose from is extraordinarily outstanding. Paired with equitable prices, any self respecting distinguished gentleman would be at a loss should he not find an ensemble to his liking. My first impressions to my initial foray to Burlington Coat Factory can only be recapitulated to a resounding...Fuck yeah this place rocks! I have a love hate relationship with this store! Some things I love about this store are as follows, they have super cute clothes at very reasonable prices, they have a lot of name brand items, and they sell so much more then just clothes. They have jewellery, bath products, clothes, shoes, picture frames, luggage, coat's, toys, a full baby depot and a housewares area. My issues are as follows, the items though they are nice they are not always organised, the cleanliness of the store is a regular concern and the workers are not always the kindest. However we stopped in last night for my husband as he needed a new belt and left with a lot more then that. Our cashier La Keishia was very nice and very talkative. Apparently they are dealing with an issue with the air unit so it was very hot. Once we got the we realized one item was the wrong size so I returned that item today and Selena was very helpful and nice as well. read more

Burlington Coat Factory really is more than great coats. Fo' realz. This place is more than disorganized (think of Ross, twice as big but just as messy) but luckily, I'm not shopping for the perfect fitting dress or a specific brand of shoes. I'm shopping for rock-bottom deals on otherwise unaffordable merchandise. As far as jackets are concerned, they aren't kidding - some of these are literally marked down 60% off of suggested retail. It's crazy. Of course, you've always got to give them a good look over for missing buttons, zippers, etc. but you should be doing that anyway. What I really found nice was that they have a whole bed and bath section. They also have home decor and kitchen items. I grabbed a Rachel Ray 12-piece cookware set, brand new, for $100. That's just an insane deal that you'll be lucky to find anywhere else. And they had loads of em'. For as busy, ghetto, and disorganized as this store can be, the clerks are remarkably polite and willing to help. Patience, I assume, is key here, and everyone I've dealt with seems to have an overabundance of it. I know I couldn't do it. What else can I say? From my standpoint, it's just like any other department store I've ever been in - a bunch of stuffy, annoyed shoppers, a cluttered clothing section, screaming children, and cashiers wishing their shift was over. I've never been in a position of needing the fitting room or anything like that, so I've got no opinion on it. For the casual shopper, this is a great place to find quality items at very low prices. I have only been to this location a few times and none of those times have yield a satisfactory shopping experience. 1. I arrive with my sons right at 11 for the store to open and it takes them almost five minutes to open after their posted time of business. 2. The big Vin Diesel looking dude in the tailor department for men clothing is mean and plain rude with no people skills at all. He should be bouncing at clubs not working in a department store. 3.Their clothing racks are so unorganized and all over the place. 4. They have very little merchandise for men and boys but tons of items for women and little girls. So whenever I take my boys shopping there its at least an hour challenge trying to find them something or leaving the store empty handed. I love this store, looking for my grandbaby some new sandals. But I love everything about this store. I really love this store during the holidays. They have changed a lot of things around in this store and I noticed they didn't have a lot to choose from in sandals for her size. Hmmm thats strange because I have always found nice shoes here. I buy alot from Burlington store. From perfume to dresses and shoes, coats. They just have so much to choose from and the prices are to die for. And I must add the quality of their products are great. Unfortunately I did not find any sandals today. The lines are always long, but they always have enough lines opened where you do not have to wait for a long time. The staff is always friendly and professional and that's a sign of good management. Terrible. I go only when the person/people I'm with want to. Wouldnt even be so bad except you have to deal with items strewn throughout the store, employees walking pass the mess (and thats IF you find any employees on the floor), floors constantly dirty, and guaranteed for every 20 intact item you be careful of at least 1 torn, ripped, dirty, smelly or stained item.
