    Food truck

An awesome feast on a shady street corner in Gunnison after hiking in the national park. This food truck serves up delicious - and large portions - of comfort food. We had the fried chicken sandwich and the grits with shrimp. Both a big wow. Service is excellent. The friendly staff knock themselves out to get the orders out quickly. Plus they have water for road-thirsty dogs.

Talk about a little 'hole-in-the-wall' eatery, Burnell's is just a food truck (almost in an alley) with picnic tables surrounding it. We wanted a light lunch since we planned to have a large dinner later, so we ordered Burnell's mixed salad. It was terrific with vegetables (cucumber, tomatoes, etc.), sliced almonds, chunks of brie cheese, and deep red strawberries. (Yum!) My wife raved over it, and I almost did. One type of lettuce included was arugula. (Not my favorite.) But there wasn't much of it, and the rest of the salad was so wonderful that I ate everything (arugula and all). Afterwards, we learned from the chef that we could order the salad without arugula. (I'll do that for sure the next time.)

Enjoying my visit here from Texas by having a fabulous lunch with my sweet mom and her girlfriends.

Shrimp & grits, salad, brats, homemade chicken salad, all yummy! And you could have a donut icecream sandwich if your not full feom lunch!

Outstanding Food Truck food. The Shrimp and Grits were the best I've ever had. Completely Gourmet. Staff was amazing and they over heard me agonizing between the S&G and Chick Philly so they add a sample of the Philly. I rate this in my top 5 food trucks easily.

Half size order of the Stuffed French toast with bacon. Get the full size, it's too yummy to just eat half!

It's a food truck with lots of outdoor seating. What a brilliant idea! We passed by here on our way back to Denver from Crested Butte. They were open the morning of July 4th, serving their full breakfast and lunch menu. I ordered the 1/2 portion of the stuffed french toast with a side of bacon, and my partner ordered the huevos rancheros with elk. I should have ordered the full size because I was rather hungry, and it was super scrumptious, with cream cheese, strawberries, and blueberries stuffed inside the french toast. The bacon was perfectly crunchy, but not overdone. I tried a bite of the huevos rancheros and that was really darn good - apparently, it's one of the most popular dishes, and I understand why! It's a great choice if you're in a savory breakfast mood. There were a couple other breakfast spots/cafes on Main Street, but I'm glad we picked this one. It wasn't crowded or noisy, and the food was excellent.

So good it should be illegal. Every time I come to this place I am thrilled with the food.

I love this place. I have had breakfast and lunch and it always is a fun atmosphere and great food. Too much food for one person, so I can always get a second meal out of it. Best think to try is the elk chorizo. It is especially tasty in the biscuits and gravy!

OMG. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area. Delicious shrimp poboy. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the vinegary accompaniments were an excellent combination with the chewy bread. You also have to get the grits with green chillies and plenty of bacon. Yummm! Totally cool vibe too chill in as you wait for your scrumptious meal.

We stopped in for lunch today, so good. I had read about it and had heard it was a tasty food truck. The truck has a nice lot,and atmosphere is really cute. The friendly owners are serving a really tasty brunch, lunch menu. I had the sweet potato bowl with a poached egg. So tasty, a party in the mouth, greens, black beans, sweet potatoes and a delicious verde salsa. My husband had the shrimp and bacon po boy, he loved it, had a nice amount of sautéed peppers and onions. We will be going back. The only thing missing is a beer garten!!!! The owner said next year they will be adding that.

Rancheros Bernellos and Biscuits and gravy with elk crumbles....yummmmmmm

This is about as good as it gets in Gunnison, and that's saying quite a bit because there are…read moreseveral very nice restaurants here. The wine list is very nice, and you won't break the bank -- especially at happy hour, with two dollars off each glass of wine between 5 and 7 PM. We had the House Malbec, from Mendoza, Argentina, and it had a delicious flavor and aroma. It was a full bodied and smooth, dark red offering. For an appetizer, we had the Shishati grilled peppers with pesto/cilantro sauce, and they were just fantastic. They are mild, nicely grilled, and beautifully presented. It is served as an appetizer, but please be warned, one out of every nine peppers is exceedingly hot. We had about 12 peppers, and all of them were mild, so we beat the odds! I've had hamburgers all over the world, and I can honestly say I have not had a better cheeseburger than I got right here from the menu at Blackstock. It's in a traditional bun, lightly toasted, with tempura, onion, cracked pepper, mayo, Tabasco, candied and smoked bacon, and it is served with Hand-cut fries. You can add guacamole for a dollar, or blue cheese or Gruyere cheese for another dollar. But I did not add a thing; it was perfect as it came out of the kitchen for me! You will be asked how you want your hamburger cooked, and I chose medium. It could not have been better! It's on the menu at a very fair $21 including your hand-cut fries. My lovely dinner-date had the petite filet mignon, a 5-ounce offering of spectacular steak, served with goat cheese, potato croquettes, asparagus, stewed shallots, served with a Cabernet Demi glaze at $45. It was a large serving, I believe bigger than 5 ounces, because we are taking half of it home in a to-go box! Again, the food was spectacular... really good. We will finish with the flourless chocolate torte, serve with whipped cream and Amarina dark cherries at $11. If I was a betting man, I'd say you're gonna love this place! Take a few pictures, do what I did, and leave a review, because more people need to know the quality of food coming out of this little storefront on a busy street in Gunnison! And if you ask for Danielle, be advised, he's a great server and you will get exactly what you need! He's very attentive, and charming.

More recently, we sat at the bar last week to enjoy both happy hour, and the ramen menu. The bartender was great, and checked in with us regularly. We started with a small plate of the bistro fries - which comes covered in Truffle Oil, Herbs de Provence, and Parmesan Cheese - they're super good, and would say better than a certain CB restaurant's crack fries. The small order was plenty for the three of us to share. For drinks, we started with wine, beer, and I had a mojito. The mojito wasn't my favorite - for some reason, it was really sweet. Second drink was a glass of Sauvignon blanc, which went well with the ramen. On to the ramen - I went with the Boo-Tan-E-Koo Pork broth, traditional wavy noodles, pork belly, poached egg, tempura, green onion, buttered sweet corn, chile thread, fresh ginger, sesame seeds. It was delicious, flavorful, and I couldn't get through the whole bowl (I took about half of it home). That was my first time taking ramen home, and would note it heated up nicely for lunch the next day. We will absolutely be back to try more of the menu!

However, the other night we had a really lovely meal and were luckily seated downstairs, which was very prettily decorated and noise levels not too high. So good I forgot to take a photo until we'd wiped the plate clean. Meatballs were also very tasty w a very nice tomato sauce. The burrata served w radishes, beets, citrus and arugula was delicious. The sourdough with black garlic butter was incredible, easily the best I've ever had. We also shared a Caesar salad with perfectly crispy garlic croutons on the outside and a bright, lemony dressing. We had an important family event and chose this restaurant as our family dinner to celebrate. I mentioned in our reservation that this event was a special occasion and we were sat at a beautiful, intimate table with complementary shots at the end of dinner as a congratulations - We were very grateful for this hospitality. We were disappointed due to the quality of service and food. We felt we hardly saw our server and did not get refills/ service as we had hoped and spent a lot of time waiting. It was a Friday night, however we had a later reservation and the restaurant was not as busy by that time... When our meal came out, it was delivered to our table by another employee and when we said "thank you!" feeling excited to try our food, the person did not make eye contact or even acknowledge anyone at the table...? For dinner we were recommended the ribs and were extremely disappointed. They were so dry and tough and did not end up getting eaten. The chicken was phenomenal but felt that the rest of the sides were subpar. At a minimum of $50 a person, we expected excellent service and food...
