We recently dined at Three Rivers Smokehouse in Almont, CO, and had a really enjoyable experience. We called ahead to reserve a spot for our party of 9 (4 adults, 5 children), and they easily accommodated us, which was a great start. The staff were friendly, and the outdoor seating provided the perfect atmosphere with fantastic weather. The menu had a nice variety of options, making it hard to choose just one thing! We started with the smoked salmon dip, which came with pita bread, tortilla chips, carrots, and celery. The dip was incredible, and the portion was generous enough that we took some home to enjoy later. My wife ordered the Smokehouse Deluxe sandwich with brisket on gluten-free bread (which comes as a bun) and Hyside fries. She asked for lean brisket, but the server explained they couldn't guarantee specific cuts, as they work with what they have. In the end, she didn't have many complaints, but also didn't find anything particularly exceptional about the sandwich. I went with the brisket platter, requesting a fatty cut, but I ended up with a leaner portion while my wife's brisket turned out a bit fattier than she preferred. We swapped bites to balance things out. The brisket was tender and moist, but we both agreed it lacked strong flavors. I also found the lack of sauce options a bit disappointing; I'm a fan of mustard-based barbecue sauce, and there were only standard sauces available. The Hyside fries (tossed with parmesan and truffle oil) were a hit for me, though my wife and kids weren't as impressed. I'm still on the fence about whether the $3 upcharge was worth it, but I personally thought they were tasty. Our kids enjoyed their meals--two got the chicken tenders and fries, which disappeared quickly, and my third child ordered the Mac N Cheese with pulled pork. He loved it, and the portion was large enough for leftovers. Overall, while the brisket wasn't the star of the meal, the menu variety, atmosphere, and friendly staff make Three Rivers Smokehouse worth the extra 10-15 minute drive from Gunnison. We'll be back to try more dishes since they all sounded fantastic!

The food is nothing special, way overpriced and the drinks are tiny and also very expensive. Another tourist trap.

We are so glad we came across this gem of a restaurant on a previous trip to Ouray…read more Staying nearby this time we decided to stop in again. To us, this place represents exactly what we love about Ouray: unassuming, welcoming and exceeding expectations. It's a place where you can sit inside or outside and sip a martini from a full bar. (Although we fell for the smokey Old Fashioned). A piano and saxophone combo played jazz. Conversations flowed on all sides at big tables. Located on the cozy grounds of the Ouray Riverside Resort complex, the Smokehouse recently added an enclosed patio with roll-up garage doors to give diners the indoor-outdoor feel. The rib platter and sides were terrific. The meat had a nice peppery bark and came easily off the bone. The Caesar salad and Mac and Cheese sides also were thoughtfully prepared. Desert was a rich Creme Brûlée cheesecake. Travis and his fellow hard-working servers were helpful and friendly. We can't recommend this place enough.

We ordered the Feast for 3 of us with some leftovers. Now to start off, I grew up in Texas and have opinions about BBQ. Hands down I love the ribs here, good smoky flavor, well seasoned, good bark. So yum! Brisket and pulled pork are good. I love to put the coleslaw with the pulled pork. Desserts were tasty too. Staff is so friendly. We had live jazz music while we were here. Go here! Eat ribs!

What a find! We were road tripping through the area on our way to Boulder and found this excellent…read morelittle local food truck. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Super friendly service and very accommodating for my no dairy requirements. I had the veggie burger, which was probably the best veggie burger I've ever had. This thing was so fresh tasting, there's no way it was prepared from being frozen. Full of quinoa, corn, etc. super duper delicious remoulade on a really good gourmet bun. Of course, I forgot to take a pic, but, I did manage to document my eating mates selections. See those pics - albeit, half eaten. Upgrade your order to the sweet potato tots, don't even hesitate, they're healthy and come with a mustard seed aioli sauce that makes the whole meal 360 degrees of scrumptiousness. I wish I had room in my pie hole for the donut ice cream sandwich - my only regret. Go off your intended route to try this place. McDonald's and Taco Bell don't need you. There's lovely tables and chairs under the trees that are clean and stocked with napkins and hand sanitizer. A really nice break in our trip!

They have a nice sized patio area with about 7 spaced out tables and a couple of chairs for the to go orders. There is a huge pine tree for shade as well. Simple menu written on a chalk board because it varies daily. The prices seem appropriate for a quality food truck and for the area as well. I was already debating the Philly or the shrimp poboy depending on what they had and it turned out to be the poboy. Order didn't take long and then my huge sandwich arrived. It came with a small bag of chips, but the sandwich itself is huge and loaded. The sandwich is on a soft hogie rather than the traditional french type of bread, but it's delicious and fresh . The shrimp (plump, perfectly cooked and plenty) is in a kind of dark cajun remoulade mixed with bacon and sauteed onions with multi colored bell peppers. Oh, and it has lettuce so you don't feel bad about eating it all in one sitting! :) Overall, I loved it! Bursting with flavor in every bite! Felt more like a Cajun shrimp Philly minus the cheese. Only if I was to be the one to name it of course! There is no such thing as a shrimp Philly though...yet! Oh, and ask for a fork or to have them cut it in half or you will be using way more napkins than necessary! ;-) Met Kevin, ones of the owners and he was very nice and easy to talk to. Nice place to stop if you are passing through or if you are a local, what are you waiting for!? Try them out before they go on their winter vacation! :) Or just make sure you try them out when you get a chance. They'll be back. I hope!
