Went in to grab a drink while waiting for the resort shuttle today. Unfortunately, the bartender was not only very slow but also came across as rude and disrespectful throughout the interaction. There was no sense of hospitality or willingness to help, which made for a really unpleasant experience. I almost never leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I felt it was worth mentioning. I hope management addresses it, because interactions like this do a disservice to the business. read more

We recently dined at Three Rivers Smokehouse in Almont, CO, and had a really enjoyable experience. We called ahead to reserve a spot for our party of 9 (4 adults, 5 children), and they easily accommodated us, which was a great start. The staff were friendly, and the outdoor seating provided the perfect atmosphere with fantastic weather. The menu had a nice variety of options, making it hard to choose just one thing! We started with the smoked salmon dip, which came with pita bread, tortilla chips, carrots, and celery. The dip was incredible, and the portion was generous enough that we took some home to enjoy later. My wife ordered the Smokehouse Deluxe sandwich with brisket on gluten-free bread (which comes as a bun) and Hyside fries. She asked for lean brisket, but the server explained they couldn't guarantee specific cuts, as they work with what they have. In the end, she didn't have many complaints, but also didn't find anything particularly exceptional about the sandwich. I went with the brisket platter, requesting a fatty cut, but I ended up with a leaner portion while my wife's brisket turned out a bit fattier than she preferred. We swapped bites to balance things out. The brisket was tender and moist, but we both agreed it lacked strong flavors. I also found the lack of sauce options a bit disappointing; I'm a fan of mustard-based barbecue sauce, and there were only standard sauces available. The Hyside fries (tossed with parmesan and truffle oil) were a hit for me, though my wife and kids weren't as impressed. I'm still on the fence about whether the $3 upcharge was worth it, but I personally thought they were tasty. Our kids enjoyed their meals--two got the chicken tenders and fries, which disappeared quickly, and my third child ordered the Mac N Cheese with pulled pork. He loved it, and the portion was large enough for leftovers. Overall, while the brisket wasn't the star of the meal, the menu variety, atmosphere, and friendly staff make Three Rivers Smokehouse worth the extra 10-15 minute drive from Gunnison. Well start with the food. Some of the best smoked meats I've had. They smoke their own corned beef so I had to try the Ruben sandwich. Incredible! Thick slices of smoky, salty beef, balanced nicely with homemade 1,000 island. The staff is also great! Super friendly and helpful with the menu. Atmosphere was nice too. What a great place! It's located in the Three Rivers Resort. It's pretty much an outdoor place although there are a few booths under a covered roof, they are still outside. What I love the most about this place is the atmosphere. You'll find hard-working locals, tourists, fishermen, and fisherwomen, all having a great time and enjoying the chill mountain vibe. I was there in mid-September for dinner and it was chilly. Dress warm, and enjoy the food and drink. Oh yeah, the food! It's just like going to someone's house for dinner. Love it! I had the beef brisket platter. It had a really nice homemade feel to it. Loved the crust! For sides, I had their mac 'n cheese, coleslaw, and potato salad, again, all homemade and all delicious. My friend had the beef brisket sandwich and he ordered fries as his side. Loved the fries, yes, homemade. The fries were fantastic and abundant. Definitely get the fries when you go there. They have burgers, salads, sandwiches, appetizers. No problem finding something you love. Some good beer on tap, too! They are open seasonally, closing this year (2021) on October 3rd, and opening up again on Memorial day. Just check ahead to be sure. Shout out to Jason, the manager. My wife and I made a point to stop here with our dogs on a leaf-peeping roadtrip to Salida and Crested Butte, after our son and his partner told us how much they had enjoyed their stay in a cabin at Three Rivers Resort. It was just before they closed for the season, and they had crossed out a bunch of items on the menu, but they still had what my wife and I (and the dogs) wanted. Our server was very pleasant, attentive and chatty. I got the half chicken plate and my wife got the brisket plate, and both were delicious. The barbecue guys did an excellent job smoking the meat, the sides were delicious and plentiful, and they had a decent selection of beers to wash down the que with. Our huskies highly recommend that you give this place a try! read more

Waitress wasn't pleasant, a complainer! Didn't want to give us a table out of the sun! Ordered two burgers n fries, they were very good, fry's could have been hotter. Also ordered two corn beef sandwiches, mine had one bite of meat the rest was pure fat (ugh!). Showed to waitress, her answer "there's always fat on our corn beef," and walked off. So I asked to speak with the manager, well waitress and her boyfriend (an apparent food runner) didn't like this and the boyfriend threatened to physically remove me if I didn't stop complaining. Luckily the pleasant manager showed up and defused the situation with the waitress and her boyfriend, and comped my sandwich. Thanks ever so much miss manager. Having owned a restaurant for many years, I wouldn't have put up with this kind of service to my customers. Help being so difficult to get here I can see you have to settle for subpar help! To bad the idiot food runner didn't put his hands on me, would have been a assault law suit! You need to get your employees under control and be respectful to your customers! read more

Ate lunch here after a morning river rafting trip! We were able to warm up in the sun on the patio and enjoyed the outdoor seating. I ordered the smokehouse deluxe sandwich with brisket and potato salad, husband had the Cuban, oldest daughter ate the brisket Mac and cheese. The kids had burgers and brisket sandwiches. Everyone loved the bbq brisket and we are from Texas, so we know bbq! The Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy. Everything was so delicious and hit the spot after our river "workout." Came here before they closed. Yes, I hate being that guy too but hey! Nathan recommended the corned beef Reuben and he did NOT disappoint. It was one of THE BEST REUBEN's I've EVER tasted!! It is EPIC! And I've had A LOT of Reuben's! They smoke their own corned beef on site so it's fresh!! I've had the Reuben at Katz's deli in NY and this Three Rivers Reuben is better!! First time here. Was told to sit where we wanted then was ignored until we got up from the table to beg someone for service. Had to ask twice just to get water, let alone other drinks. Ordered food...it was ok for most of us but not worth the prices. Order was wrong and cold for one of us. They did take it off the bill so that's positive, but the attitude was that we eating here was an inconvenience. Won't be back. I would never recommend this place. read more

Always in the past good food and service. I know covid has affected everything but our last visit was really sad. We just stopped in for the smoked wings(still great) and cocktails and ending up ordering a lot more. Our server was basically non existent although we saw plenty of the other servers. Our orders took forever as if she forgot to put them in as everyone around us was getting their orders. When they came they were incorrect. The chef came out and did her best to appease us but what should have been a quick 1 hour stop turned into a 2 hour ordeal. I think I will wait until life gets back to a little more normal before I'll stop here again. read more
