Great no frills Portuguese bbq spot in Union. I usually order the whole chicken with yellow rice and veggies. The chicken is well seasoned and delicious. The cabbage is excellent-so buttery and flavorful. I've had the chorizo here too. It's so good from the grill. The garlic shrimp is very good and fresh. Ever since I was a little rib I always wanted to be loved and today after a long hike in milburn I just randomly picked a place on Yelp that was near the trail, but I am so happy I picked this place. Was it the best thing I ever had no, but it was really really good. Omg especially the cost, I went in there so hungry and made the "mistake" of thinking we needed a meal per person. Odd place on a super busy street. Tiny parking lot. Equally as tiny restaurant. Dark on the inside (I guess from the smoke). Reminiscent of a dive spot. So whether the place was clean or not was figurative. Wanted to eat there but felt cramped, and again, parking was iffy. Service was all business, no personality. But the food: DELICIOUS!!! I ordered food for a Christmas party. I paid $170. The ribs had so much fat on them. We ordered ribs, chicken, and shrimp. Everything thing was extremely salty. The restaurant staff put the shrimp in the bag and did close the rib. All of the sauce was spilled in the bag. When I called the manager, he said 'sorry that the food was not to your liking, the next time you come in, we will be careful with the amount of salt we put in the food. What?? Totally pissed off. I paid $39 for a beef short rib dinner and half chicken with pork ribs. I opened the beef ribs and there are only two beef ribs for the $26 that I paid. I was bewildered a "whole pan" of beef ribs came with only two pieces. However, I called back and after saying what was wrong, I was put on hold for 2 minutes. I am still waiting for them to resend the right order an hour after calling back. I'm not really sure what's going on, no one has called to inform me of anything and I don't know when the driver is coming. The food does taste good, the ribs are very tough and chewy but I'm not sure if I would order again. I tried it for the first time after seeing my neighbor order and BBQ sounded good. Saw this place and decided to give it a try. I truly feel they deserve 4 stars or more. When I came in it was busy and they were very quick to take everyone's orders. Definitely a very good Portuguese-American food joint. First off, there are two Burnet BBQ's in town and I've tried both, but for whatever reason I find the one actually on Burnet Ave to be better. It might just be me, but for the sake of this review I'll only be speaking for that location. The inside is small. Has 3 tables inside. Most of the time people are taking out but you'll see people eating in once in a while. Parking isn't too bad. They do not have their own parking lot, but there's a few spots out front, across the street, and in one of the side streets nearby. Their chicken is very good. There are so many Bbq places where the chicken is either too dry or too greasy. Here, you get a good smoky BBQ flavor and the meat itself maintains its moisture. I've also had the ribs, rice, and vegetables here. The ribs are decent, and the rice and vegetables are good. Chicken is definitely my favorite thing though. Something definitely worth mentioning is you usually get a good amount of food for what you're paying. You can get a full combo of chicken, ribs, rice, and vegetables for less than $20. That's enough food to feed my household of 5 people comfortably. You can also get a chicken or steak sandwich for less than $10. Both very tasty and come with plenty of French fries. Overall, It's a good place if you're feeling Portuguese BBQ, or BBQ in general. It's definitely worth the money you spend. read more

I ordered a half chicken from burnet bbq and when I picked up my order and place it in my car I notice my car had started to smell like something was rotten, but when I got closer to the food it seems like they placed a lot of garlic in the food. Was in town from San Antonio and friend recommended this place. Had the half order of BBQ chicken with rice and beans and really great. The potions are pretty large and enough for two people. Service was quick for BBQ items and anything else would take a little longer. Price was very nice for the amount of food and should offer half portions. I'm not fond of "Portuguese BBQ" except for the fact that restaurants serve huge portions of it. I've been to Burnet BBQ on Stuyvesant but can't really say I enjoyed the food. This branch seems a lot better. Whole Chicken with Rice and Fries ($15): My main complaint with Portuguese BBQ chicken is that it isn't as well-seasoned as a lot of people claim. However, the chicken at this branch was very flavorful. The meat was moist, while the skin was a bit salty and had a spicy kick. The portions are just as plentiful as other places in town; the rice was also flavorful and the salted fries were fresh from the fryer. I'm really hoping for consistency. The Burnet on Stuyvesant is pretty average, while the food at Nunzios just doesn't appeal to me. I haven't tried the ribs here, but I might give it a shot next time. So far, I was happy with what I ordered. Even if this branch doesn't have its own parking lot, finding a space was actually easier. I was going to stick with the Stuyvesant branch but couldn't find a spot since it was packed and, as usual, there's a squad car doing nothing but hogging up space. SOS?) and they said there is hot sauce on the table *aka franks red hot in a ketchup bottle* Perhaps I don't understand Portuguese meat, but I don't think it should be so flavorless.
