OMG .. this place is amaze-zing!!!! I almost don't want to let anyone know about this place but I hope they stay around for a long time! We always take friends (local and out of towners) here - it's my favorite place on the island :-). The staff and owner are incredibly attentive and want to make sure you are happy with your meal. You really don't get service like this anymore and it's always so appreciated when we come here. The chicken is the stand out - fantastic flavor, crispy skin, juicy.. my mouth is salivating as I type this...nom nom nom! Sangria is fantastic, and don't EVEN get me started on dessert!!! We made a reservation online and were seated right away on a Friday night. It's a tiny place but it was packed! Waitress was great. Sangria: made fresh and to order. Delicious! Apps: shrimp in garlic sauce and potato chips. Delicious! Entrees: chicken in garlic sauce and I think it was called Mariscada Zarzuela which was a mix of seafood in green sauce. Salad is included. I absolutely loved it I've never had this kind of food before and I couldn't stop eating it was so good. The seafood was phenomenally fresh, everything was delicious and you know it was good because a table full of Italians was quiet. The service was spectacular, the owner is walking around serving patrons, making sure everyone is happy it was wonderful. Food comes out at a good pace, nobody was ever wanting for their food it was timed well so we could enjoy our company a bit and have food. The ambiance is lovely, it's nothing spectacular but it's just quiet. It has the perfect level of music, it's intimate and it's a lovely setting truly. This was my first time here. I Ordered churasco and this was the best that I've ever tasted it was juicy and the taste was amazing. Well prepared with yellow rice and beans. Get the half chicken with yellow rice and vegetables. ( I swapped the veg for black beans) The crunchy skin was excellent and I brought home leftovers. However my friends had the pork chops that very thin and a little dry. Janet ordered the shrimp in green sauce which she liked but the sauce tasted like it was thickened with cornstarch rather than a roux. It's BYOB until they get their liquor license with no corkage fee. I suggest heading over now to negate the price point. Service was fabulous! read more

Manoa was absolutely delicious. We ordered a bunch of things from the menu and absolutely everything was delicious. I really love the yellow Spanish rice. It was nice and soft which is what I was expected. The shrimp was incredibly fresh and I loved the sauce that they had placed it in. My husband really likes the chicken that was marinated just perfectly. The one item that I wasn't personally a fan of but maybe others will like is the cod fritters. It had some sort of crunchy sharp flakes on the outside that it was battered, and it was a little too difficult for me to personally chew and enjoy. It included marinated steak, pork ribs, sausage, bacon wrapped turkey bites, yellow rice, black beans, fried bananas and fresh chips. No liquor but you can bring your own, if desired. So a brand new Portuguese Restaurant opened up in Bellmore and it's incredibly good. I felt the need to share it with all of you! They have dine-in service as well as take-out and is the perfect place for both lunch & dinner. Tonight, I got the shell steak and the half chicken with a salad to start and wow - everything was so fresh and tasty. The chicken was cooked perfectly and super juice. The rice was delicious and the steak was to die for, best shell steak I've ever had honestly. The salad was so fresh and the hot sauce was so good I ended up taking a bottle home to go! BYOB Portuguese gem. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Food takes some time to come out but it's so worth it. Everything was so good. Hot flaky rolls to start. After seeing the grilled seafood platter I had to go for that. My wife had the garlic chicken. Don't know what dish the chips came with but make sure u get them. Everything was so yummy. Great neighborhood restaurant! When you walk in you are ALWAYS greeted warmly by Julia (the owner, and her husband is the chef). You feel like you are entering their home. The service is ALWAYS excellent and the food is delicious and very generous portions. I never can finish my meal so I take the other half home and I have another dinner for the following night. We've tried many dishes and they were excellent., my favorite is the skirt steak, it is tender, juicy and seasoned very well. Went to Manolo's Churrasqueira on Merrick Rd in Bellmore for dinner last night. All I can say is WOW! Its a small place but the food was excellent!! It's run by a husband and wife, the wife was our server and was so sweet. We had several different items and each one was fantastic. I can't wait to dig into my leftovers later on, my entrée was huge and definitely enough for 2 meals. One thing to note, they didn't have any alcohol on the menu but I did see another table bring in a bottle of wine, so I'm assuming it's BYOB u til they get a liquor license. We came here at the recommendation of a friend. Did not disappoint!! Food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We had codfish cake fritters for appetizer. Crispy on the outside and creamy smooth deliciousness on the inside. Wife had the Grill platter and I had the Mariscada in Green Sauce. Both were phenomenal. Some FYIs when you come: - Portions are large. (We took home enough for a full meal another day). -No alcohol. We were forewarned and it is not an issue for us but don't be deducting stars because you couldn't get an adult beverage. I was told that if you bring your own wine, they will uncork and serve at no charge, but this is second hand. -They have some Italian items on the menu. (Not sure why). We didn't try them so I will not comment on quality. I will say that the poor (one star) review I read was from someone who stated she wanted Portuguese food and ordered the Sole Francese. ...I'm just saying, that if she ordered one of the many Portuguese entrees she would not have been disappointed (although not definite as most of her other reviews are one star). -The place is small. Excellent food but terrible service. We went for a birthday, seated right away BUT then waited an hour and a half to get our dinner. Didn't expect to be there 2.5 hours on a Sunday night. The more or less ignored us until the food arrived. Asked for the manager but she never came to us until the food arrived. I totally UNDERSTAND things happen but its how a restaurant deals with it that matters most. They could have come over and apologized, given us something while we waited, even an apology and explanation would have gone a long way! Anything that acknowledged we were waiting way too long! Wonderful hidden gem in Merrick. The owner Julia and her husband Manolo left a similar restaurant in Oceanside to open Manolos. It is well worth the trip from Oceanside to eat there. We have been there twice and Julia is always there to greet you with a warm hello and hug. All the apps are good and the homage bread is to die for. The Whole BBQ Chicken dinner is on point. It comes with a salad rice and beans and is reasonable priced. Last time there we had the BBQ Meats for 2 with all the sides and the meat was cooked perfectly. The portion was so large we had enough leftover for lunch the next day. Make sure you leave room for dessert because all the desserts on the menu are great. We had the Treis Leches this time. Went here with a friend last night for the first time. The restaurant is very cozy and homey. Service was beyond excellent (probably best I've had on Long Island since before the pandemic). The food was incredible. We shared stuffed clams appetizer that came in a zesty garlic sauce. I had the Portuguese steak which has a slice of ham and eggs on top in a vinegary sauce. My friend had Mozambique shrimp which were Devine, not hot but flavorful. They brought house hot sauce for the table. I also enjoyed the house wine. Food was very good but the service was lacking. Their take out service was very busy so it appeared they took care of those orders instead of the patrons sitting in the restaurant. The owner was very nice but serves as the only waitress and she takes care of the take out orders too. Three people are the bus boys/ hostesses and they are not quick on their feet we needed to flag help down to get a refill on our drinks and main meal took very long to be served. The dessert I had was disappointing. I had "coconut ice cream",which was nothing but a brick hard coconut ilalian ice. Not what I expect for a $160 meal. Overall food is good but service was poor.
