1/2 chicken with rice and beans
    Paula Jean K.

Get the half chicken with yellow rice and vegetables. ( I swapped the veg for black beans) The crunchy skin was excellent and I brought home leftovers. However my friends had the pork chops that very thin and a little dry. Janet ordered the shrimp in green sauce which she liked but the sauce tasted like it was thickened with cornstarch rather than a roux. It's BYOB until they get their liquor license with no corkage fee. I suggest heading over now to negate the price point. Service was fabulous!

I definitely recommend this restaurant. The owner and her husband who is the cook made us feel like we were guests in their house. I had the BBQ Half Chicken which was served with Rice, Vegetables and Chips. I also had the collard green soup. All was delicious. The restaurant is BYOB so this makes it even better. The ambience was nice. I wished I had room for dessert but I was stuffed.

    Grilled dinner for two

First time visit.....we ordered the grilled dinner for 2 which was absolutely delicious! It included marinated steak, pork ribs, sausage, bacon wrapped turkey bites, yellow rice, black beans, fried bananas and fresh chips. No liquor but you can bring your own, if desired. The owner is very friendly. We plan on returning.

So a brand new Portuguese Restaurant opened up in Bellmore and it's incredibly good. I felt the need to share it with all of you! They have dine-in service as well as take-out and is the perfect place for both lunch & dinner. Tonight, I got the shell steak and the half chicken with a salad to start and wow - everything was so fresh and tasty. The chicken was cooked perfectly and super juice. The rice was delicious and the steak was to die for, best shell steak I've ever had honestly. The salad was so fresh and the hot sauce was so good I ended up taking a bottle home to go! Here are pictures of their menu and a quick video from tonight. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!!! Manolo's Churrasqueira 516-804-5656 2518 Merrick Rd (Bellmore)

BYOB Portuguese gem. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Food takes some time to come out but it's so worth it. Everything was so good. Hot flaky rolls to start. After seeing the grilled seafood platter I had to go for that. My wife had the garlic chicken. Don't know what dish the chips came with but make sure u get them. Everything was so yummy. Can't wait to come back and try some apps and other dishes. Make sure you ask for the house spicy sauce it's amazing. We couldn't get enough of it!!!

    Mariscada in Green Sauce

We came here at the recommendation of a friend. Did not disappoint!! Food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We had codfish cake fritters for appetizer. Crispy on the outside and creamy smooth deliciousness on the inside. Wife had the Grill platter and I had the Mariscada in Green Sauce. Both were phenomenal. Some FYIs when you come: - Portions are large. (We took home enough for a full meal another day). -No alcohol. We were forewarned and it is not an issue for us but don't be deducting stars because you couldn't get an adult beverage. I was told that if you bring your own wine, they will uncork and serve at no charge, but this is second hand. -They have some Italian items on the menu. (Not sure why). We didn't try them so I will not comment on quality. I will say that the poor (one star) review I read was from someone who stated she wanted Portuguese food and ordered the Sole Francese. ...I'm just saying, that if she ordered one of the many Portuguese entrees she would not have been disappointed (although not definite as most of her other reviews are one star). -The place is small. Don't go for ambiance. Go for the food. (I have found that some of my favorite places are little "hole-in-the-wall" establishments). Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood!

Our waitress made us feel completely comfortable we were laughing, having side conversations, and genuinely enjoying ourselves all night. By the end of the evening, she even said, "Goodnight, love you!" and quickly laughed saying she didn't mean to say it. That pretty much summed up the vibe of the night friendly, relaxed, and memorable. The food was excellent from start to finish. I had the Caesar salad appetizer, which was very good, and my sister had the calamari, which she said was excellent. For our entrées, we both ordered the chicken parmesan with alavaca sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. To finish the night, we shared the crème brûlée for dessert, and it was the perfect treat. The portion is definitely big enough for two people, so I wouldn't recommend ordering one per person. The location is beautiful and right by the water true to the restaurant's name. The only small thing to note is the parking. There are two parking lots, and the first one is definitely the better option. The second lot leads closer to the waterfront entrance and can feel a little tight and snug when parking. Overall, we had an amazing time and would absolutely go back. Great food, great atmosphere, and even better service.

We sat at the bar and the bartender was very sweet and managed a basically full bar attending to every guest with care. We ordered the Italian nachos which we loved and the Picasso. The nachos had a generous amount of crumbled sausage cheese and bruschetta as well as some spicy peppers. We really enjoyed the nachos. The Picasso was a nice size, but the sandwich lacked a little seasoning and needed a little more balsamic. It felt kind of dry. For cocktails we got the strawberry lemon drop, it tasted a little medicinal and the cucumber lime spritz type drink(I can't recall the exact name). This one was very good. An overall very mixed experience but I want to give it another shot even if only for the nachos

Both were very good and we enjoyed them. For dessert we ordered a cannoli and split it. We had taken the AirTrain from JFK to the LIRR, and rolled into Mio Posto with our carry-on luggage and backpacks. It's only a block from the Merrick station and we hadn't eaten anything since breakfast. Somehow we were unaware of its existence, despite living only a few miles down the road, so we were happily surprised to see a lively crowded bar with a younger group on the right, a high ceiling, well spaced and white-table-clothed tables in the dining area with older adults (like us) on the left. The owner, "Frankee," greeted and seated us. He also dropped by to say hello and chat ... very friendly, and we saw him sit down at two other tables to chat. One time there was a live singer playing an electric keyboard at the far end of the bar, lots of songs we recognized. There were four unoccupied tables on a narrow second floor nook spanning the rear wall, maybe for a small, private party? Both times the service and food were excellent, from the salad to the entrées to the dessert (including great tiramisu). The last time we were there, I snapped a photo of the jumbo shrimp over spinach with oil and garlic, but didn't bother with photos of the dishes with Parmesan cheese because then all you see is mozzarella cheese on top and not what's under it. FYI, a lot of dishes are called "Parmesan" due to the Parmesan style of layering the entrée (whether it be chicken, veal or eggplant) with sauce and cheese. It's moderately priced. Their "half" portions are often enough for two, so you can often order for one, but get enough for two, especially if it's a three-course meal ... just ask for extra plates.

We were in a section that included a live singer and made for great ambiance. By 7:30, every table was filled. For restaurant week, I chose the 4 blue point oysters, the 6oz filet mignon and the cheesecake. The oysters were great and subtly briny and the filet was cooked perfectly (though the potato and vegetable side were pretty underwhelming). The cheesecake was considered Italian and was very lumpy, grainy and I did not like that style. We also ordered the brussel sprouts, grilled octopus and creamed spinach. The brussel sprouts were the highlight of the meal - highly recommend!! The grilled octopus was cooked perfectly The creamed spinach was a tad salty but yummy They also half bottles of wine which was a happy medium for my party My sister got the mussels, lamb shank and tiramisu as her restaurant week choices. We were able…read moreto walk in towards the end of dinner service on a Saturday and get a table for two without a reservation. Nothing but great things to say. Walk in, the open kitchen to your left (seems like a brilliant use of the space layout they had to work with). Meet the smiling host, then straight into the dining room. The dining room is elevated for North Bellmore, white tablecloths, lighting, fixtures, plates, silverware - they spent a few bucks making it nice. We ordered too much, which happens when eating late after skipping lunch.... Apps: 1. The grilled halloumi was great - sometimes it can get rubbery - not here. They were served over thick sliced roasted tomatoes which held up just enough to get some grill marks as well. I could have done without the glaze, but it was still ok. 2. Tuna tartare - deep red tuna, diced, over avocado - well plated, good dish. 3. Couldn't decide on a grilled fish app, so went with the grilled seafood sampler - amazing flavor on it all - calamari, shrimp and octopus all tender and kissed just enough on that open flame. Knife work on the garnishes and plating was done by someone who cares. Diced peppers under the calamari must've been quickly pickled - they had great flavor and kept just enough crunch to make a great dish even better. For entrees - went with the grilled salmon and ribeye steak... couldn't believe it was as good as it was for the price. Salmon was delicious, juicy, and even the skin on (plated skin down) was perfect - which I can never do, especially on a grill. The ribeye was delicious - lots of rib-cap, perfectly medium-rare, even on a hot plate, and I could swear the chef might have predicted cook time to put the more rare side plate down to make it become a medium steak by the time it hit the table. And the fries..... ohhhhhh the fries..... I'm a sucker for french fries when done right, and I ordered these fries and apps alone, it would have been a perfect meal.... perfectly hot, crispy, and plentiful. Stuffed, packed up some of the entrees for leftovers, and skipped desert and coffee - it was late. But will deffff be back and can't wait to try some of the offerings on that menu. Oh and here's a tip... if you park facing the restaurant at night, turn off your headlights as you're pulling into the spot. Was it a particularly flawless night, or is this the norm?
