I finally get the hype, this place is absolutely delicious. A friend and I shared a full rack of pork ribs with vegetables (cabbage, carrots and potatoes). The ribs were so juicy and tender to be honest they were good without any sauce. You can almost feel the love put into the place let alone the love and care they put into the food they sell. For the price you pay, the quantity AND quality of the food is justified. Restrooms were very clean and the restaurant was inviting. The many parties that came after us barely had to wait at all for a table. People got in and got out. I will definitely be back to try more items. My new go-to for BBQ. read more

Great spot with excellent food. Upon walking in I was greeted with a friendly smile and told I could sit wherever I want. The menu is simple and easy to understand. For an appetizer we had garlic shrimp which was excellent. Chicken and rice for the main dish was the obvious choice. It was exactly as I expected. Flavorful, juicy and had me wanting more. I've been going to the location in Union for years and I love that place, but the LOCATION IN EAST ORANGE IS HORRIBLE. I ordered a platter of food and when I got home I realized that my food order was wrong! Now if we didn't have a pandemic going on, I would have opened the food inside the restaurant to check it, but regardless It's there job to put in the right order. So I called and explained to the lady that I received the wrong order. She told me I had to bring the food back and she would give me my correct order . The woman didn't even apologize about the mix up, made me pay extra $5 because that's how much more my order cost, even after they messed up. She didn't even put into consideration that I had to come back to get my correct food, which was a big inconvenience. She didn't offer any type of accommodations to me for there error! Burnett BBQ at this location is no different from Portuguese BBQ at any other location that I've ordered take out from. My co-workers (2) and I shared a whole order of chicken, rice and fries. We ordered our food drove 20 min to pick up, 20 min to get home (not the problem). They sent the wrong order COMPLETELY!!! And said they couldn't do anything, that we would have to bring back the wrong order to receive or correct order that for our inconvenience they would refund us. We drove back 20 minutes to pick up the correct order and drive home for 20 min... all I simply asked is for them to make sure my food would be fresh and hot they said of course, NOT THE CASE!!! On Thursday March 1, 2018 about 12:30 PM, I called and placed my order to the counter girl at Burnet BBQ. Approximately 30 minutes and $40 later, the food arrived. Upon getting my food, I realized that an item was missing from my order. Not a big deal, people make mistakes. So I call back, speak with the same counter girl and explain my dilemma. I ask her, if she can, have a delivery person drop it off at my house at some point during his travels. He was tipped generously upon initially delivering my food ($5). After all, I did pay for it!!! The counter girl tells me "Sorry, we cannot do that. We are too busy". After I ask why, she tells me "The next time you call and order, we will take care of it." Come on, let's be real, they are going to have no idea what I'm talking about if I ever brought that up in the future. They would probably think I'm a scam artist. So I ask one more time and she again tells me "Absolutely not". I told the counter girl, don't worry about it, I will never order from your business again. Crazy how one person could change your whole outlook. I will be taking my business to 42 Bloomfield Avenue (GrillMaster) in Bloomfield which is literally right down the street. The food is just as good and their customer service is much better than that girl that works at the counter at Burnet. I've been going to Burnett Barbecue on Chancellor Ave in Irvington nj for about 5 years or more. I have notirced the last 3 times the Chicken was really Dry!!!!
