This guy is a solid mechanic. He's working out of a little one man shop but he is out performing all the big flashy shops. Had to do a spark plug change... let us bring our own plugs... had the truck done twice as fast and way cheaper then anyone else quoted. My boss, who I trust 100% suggested me take my car to Jerry so I of course did. Well...the problem is a clunking noise coming from the front end... I took him around the block (less than a mile) and no clunky noise, go figure! I told him two or three times that it needed to be put on a lift and checked by a professional, which is why I wanted HIM to look at it in the first place. I can do a LOT of things and I'm very mechanical BUT...I'm not a PROFESSIONAL!! Since he heard nothing, he just said that it will be almost impossible to find and he never even tried getting it up on his lift! He also stated that it would need to BREAK in order to figure out what was wrong with it!!!!! That's not verbatim but close! What kind of a "professional mechanic" would tell ANYBODY that??? If I have an accident because of this, I'd think I'd have the right to go after HIM for it. I dunno... I was shocked that he didn't even want to try to help me. He told me that I should bring it back in when he's not so busy...I didn't just STOP BY... I took it to him when HE ASKED me too, BY APPOINTMENT almost a WEEK LATER!!!!! And from some of these other negative reviews...maybe it's a good thing I'm not taking it back to him. It's sad that we call these so-called businesses PROFESSIONALS... There's nothing professional about MOST of them anymore. They either just blow you off like Jerry did to me or take your money. My roommate decided to take his car to this guy based on 3 "5-star" google reviews....more than likely planted to stir up business. To start this off, I am the director of Preventative Maintenance at a construction company....so, I'm very familiar with this type of stuff. Anyways, I had been working on his ford and it was throwing a code for a misfire in cylinder 4 (D) After switching coil packs and spark plugs, the fault remained in cylinder 4 and I determined it was an electrical wiring issue. I did not have the proper equipment to detect the fault and told him to take it to a friend of mine. He decided against my advice when his car wouldn't start one afternoon leaving work. He got a tow to this low rent "Burnham Auto Repair" and proceeded to get ram-rodded by this shady mechanic. The mechanic obviously tried flashing the ECU because the "chip in the key don't work". We had to call a locksmith to cut and program another key. $175. The next day the mechanic said "I had to replace a bad computer and flash the ECU again." He also cut another key without asking and charged us unexpectedly for a second key. $40. When I showed up to take a look at the car, I asked him if I could see the old computer because I wanted to see if I could make it work and sell back the one he "replaced" it with. He told me, "I can't do that because i had to turn the old one in...I don't even have the old computer." I asked him to show me his work so I could verify these things had in fact been completed. He proceeded to show me a code he looked up and wrote down and said "to look at the code on google!" He got extremely defensive and told me that if I didn't pay the $780 for the "work he did" HE WAS GOING TO PUT A MECHANICS LEAN ON THE VEHICLE. All I did was ask to see his work and explain to me in detail how he came to the conclusion that the computer was bad. He said "I only charged you $75 for labor." WHAT A SWELL GUY!! He tried to make it seem as if we were getting a good deal! I told him I wanted to drive the car around to make sure it ran okay. He said, "I'm not giving you the keys until you pay what I'm owed!" I was completely astounded by this, and wanted to call the police. I decided against my better judgement and paid him the total of the bill. He gave me the keys and my roommate drove the car home a few hours later when he got off of work. It drove about 2 miles to our apartment without the check engine light. The VERY NEXT DAY check engine light came on and I re-read the code that night. EXACT SAME CODE- misfire in cylinder 4!!! He didn't fix anything!! He just cleared the code!!!So, I checked the computer and it was NOT NEW, as he had noted on the invoice. We called him the same day to tell him the same code is throwing and that we wanted him to ACTUALLY FIX the problem. The mechanic at Burnham Auto Repair said, "I ain't doin no more work for you, don't bother calling back!" ALL WE SAID WAS , "could you please take another look at it because the exact same problem had not been resolved as promised. He told me "you should've bought my $100 warranty!" Hahahahahaha oh my god I cracked up laughing. This place is a total joke and should be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. I've been posting stuff regularly on my Facebook warning people of this low brow, Joe blow, BS mechanics shop. But, I figured a yelp review would reach the people who actually care to read.
